00:01Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Maloney responded to U.S. President Donald Trump's criticisms of her late on Tuesday,
00:07in which he accused her of lacking courage for not joining the war in Iran.
00:12Speaking to Italian media, Maloney stood her ground in defiance of Trump,
00:17whom she had shared a close relationship with, and reiterated her disapproval of the war,
00:22which has spiraled the broader region into conflict.
00:51She also threw a jab of her own, saying that Rome's long-standing relationship with Washington
00:57does not depend on a single U.S. administration.
01:01The relationship of Italy with the U.S. is a relationship that goes on for a few years,
01:06and it doesn't concern the single government.
01:09We try to do our best, clearly, in context, considering the U.S. is our strategic ally and priority,
01:17but when we are friends and when we have allies, particularly if we are strategic,
01:22we must also have the courage to say when we are not agree,
01:24which is what I do every day.
01:34The Italian Premier added that she'll continue working with partners to secure her country's interests
01:40and push for peace in the region.
