00:00Just hours after hopes of a breakthrough between the United States and Iran, a new crisis has
00:06erupted in the Middle East.
00:07And now a major question is being asked.
00:10Is Israel's continued military campaign in Lebanon helping derail a possible U.S.-Iran
00:16deal?
00:18The latest escalation began after Hezbollah struck an Israeli tank in southern Lebanon,
00:23killing four IDF soldiers.
00:25Among those killed was the commander of the 52nd Battalion, who had assumed command only
00:31days earlier after his predecessor was seriously wounded.
00:35Hours later, five more Israeli soldiers were wounded in a separate drone strike in the same
00:40area, with some reported to be in serious condition.
00:44The response from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was swift and uncompromising.
00:49He declared that Israel will not tolerate attacks on its soldiers or territory, and promised
00:55a very heavy price for Hezbollah.
00:58Netanyahu also reiterated that Israeli forces will remain inside the security zone in southern
01:04Lebanon for as long as necessary to protect communities in northern Israel.
01:09But the reaction did not stop in Lebanon.
01:12Iran responded dramatically.
01:14According to reports from Iranian media and journalists, the Islamic revolutionary Gorkharps
01:20once again moved to close the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy
01:26shipping routes.
01:27The IRGC reportedly warned that the waterway will remain closed until two conditions are
01:33met.
01:34First, Israel must withdraw from Lebanon.
01:37Second, American forces must leave the Persian Gulf and the wider region.
01:42Iranian reports also claim that warning shots were fired at ships attempting to pass through
01:47the strait, while vessels were warned to stay away or risk being targeted.
01:52At the same time, Tehran suspended talks with Washington.
01:57Iran reportedly argued that two key guarantees connected to the diplomatic process had been
02:02violated and pointed directly to Israel's continued military operations in Lebanon as a major reason.
02:09And that is where the political controversy begins.
02:13Just hours earlier, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance had suggested that Washington and Iran were
02:20close to a significant breakthrough.
02:22Vance stated that negotiators were right on the cusp of a major breakthrough before a deadly
02:27explosion in a civilian area of Beirut changed the atmosphere completely.
02:32He added that civilians with no connection to Hezbollah were killed and said that such incidents were
02:38not acceptable.
02:40Now critics argue that every new escalation in Lebanon makes diplomacy between Washington
02:46and Iran more difficult.
02:48Some analysts are openly asking whether Israel's military actions are effectively undermining efforts
02:54by the Trump administration to secure an agreement with Iran.
02:58The debate intensified further after comments from Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
03:04Ben-Gvir declared that all of Lebanon must burn and said that for every tear of an Israeli
03:10mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers must weep.
03:14Those remarks have triggered outrage across the region and added to concerns that hardline voices
03:20inside Israel are pushing for wider confrontation rather than de-escalation.
03:25So the central question remains, is Israel acting solely in response to security threats from
03:32Hezbollah or are continued operations in Lebanon making it impossible for the United States and
03:37Iran to keep diplomatic channels open?
03:40As military tensions rise, Hormuz faces disruption and negotiations stall, the future of any U.S.-Iran
03:49understanding now appears more uncertain than ever.
