00:00Now turning our attention to landing spots, one of those big rumours is Izzy Folau.
00:06Now we've tried to land and there'll be a lot more of this on Zero Tackle or pinpoint a few
00:11landing spots.
00:12Now it's a train and trial or train and sign type scenario where he's going to have to impress
00:18and obviously show that he's still capable given his time away from the competition.
00:23He'll be 38 next season in about round two or thereabouts.
00:28So obviously getting towards that real later stage of his professional career.
00:34But we'll start off with a couple of clubs that he has played for previously.
00:38First of all, the Broncos.
00:40Yeah, well, I mean, it's a risk-free investment for a club, isn't it, Hugo?
00:44We'll take a punt on him for the rest of the year and see if it works.
00:47If it doesn't, nothing lost.
00:48If it works, maybe it leads to something.
00:51The Broncos, obviously, we've talked a bit about this episode.
00:54They've got some injuries going around their outside backs right now and, you know, he could
00:58potentially be an option there to just add something to their squad for the rest of this
01:03year.
01:03As I said, train and trial, so nothing lost.
01:06Melbourne Storm now, obviously, played there, had some success.
01:10Obviously, they're a market where, you know, a big marquee type player like that's going
01:14to draw headlines.
01:15Given they're still slightly off-Broadway, even though they're a very popular side down there,
01:19is there a chance maybe that he returns, in inverted commas, home?
01:23Well, if there's one coach who I'd expect to get anything out of Israel for that at this
01:27point of his career, it's Craig Bellamy.
01:29The Storm, obviously, are not where they'd want to be on the ladder and have their own
01:33injury and contract hassles heading into next season.
01:36So, there is an option there for them to go, well, how is he come play here?
01:41Obviously, the Storm now have their own New South Wales Cup team, so that helps as well
01:45in terms of being able to assess his performances at reserve grade level.
01:48So, potentially.
01:50How about the Bulldogs?
01:51I find them interesting.
01:52Obviously, a team that's underachieved.
01:54They had some high-profile signings in the middle of last year, and obviously, that's
01:59been heavily scrutinised.
02:00Could they be gun-shy, or do you think there's a chance they'll do something here?
02:04Well, Phil Gould's under a lot of pressure, isn't he?
02:06I think there is question marks both all the way around on the Bulldogs at the moment,
02:11right across their 17.
02:12One of the big ones has been, though, Marcelo Montoya.
02:14His form just hasn't been where it needs to be.
02:17Obviously, Jacob Karaz is quite injury-prone, and their young kids haven't really hit the
02:22mark, for what it's worth.
02:23So, you know, Folau could actually be closer to minutes in a Canterbury jersey than a lot
02:28of the other clubs on this list.
02:29Quite possibly.
02:30One side that's probably had maybe the loudest noise around them at this stage, or at least
02:35the most conversation, is the Tigers.
02:37Where are we at with them?
02:40Well, the Tigers were the club linked to Folau originally, and if you listened to reports
02:43that came out last week, it was that Benji Marshall and Folau had been in talks.
02:47Now, Benji Marshall came out and said, not happening, we're not signing him, no way, Jose.
02:51However, the Tigers have had a revolving door in their back five this year a little bit.
02:57Those guys playing there have ultimately paid the price whenever they've lost.
03:01Benji Marshall has been very trigger-happy on making changes there.
03:04So, could he go for some experience in the back five?
03:07Yeah, potentially.
03:08Folau would certainly bring that, and, you know, for what it's worth, Folau during his
03:12day was, you know, on track to become one of the best NRL wingers of all time.
03:16Obviously, that didn't happen.
03:17He went to the AFL and he went to rub the union, but, you know, is there something still
03:21to offer there?
03:22Maybe.
03:23Two-parter, could he, and would you like to see him in a Dragons jumper?
03:29Could he?
03:30Yes, because the Dragons outside backs have not hit the mark this year.
03:33Obviously, there's been talk around some of the guys leaving at the end of this season
03:36and the signings they did make this year, Setu 2, David Farley, just haven't really worked.
03:41So, could he?
03:43Yes.
03:43Do I want to see it?
03:44I'm not sure a 37-year-old is the right way to go about things for the Dragons, but it
03:48has to be noted the Red V are a desperate club at the moment trying to get away from a
03:52wooden spoon.
03:53So, it's a risk they may look at taking.
03:56No questions.
03:57That'll be a continued watch.
03:58He's going to take headlines with him wherever he goes.
04:01Izzy Folau, and if it does work out, certainly some excitement around the competition, despite
04:07his age.
04:08I'll be right back.
04:11I'll be right back.
04:12I'll be right back.
04:13I'll be right back.
04:15I'll be right back.
04:15I'll be right back.
04:15I'll be right back.
04:15I'll be right back.
04:15I'll be right back.
04:16I'll be right back.
04:16You
