Notable sights and scenes along the Monaro Highway, south of Canberra.
Transcript
00:00There's many landmarks on the drive along the Monero Highway between Canberra and Cooma.
00:04There's the beady eyes of the Royale Robot and the National Gallery of Australia's Green Mountain Blue 2 sculpture.
00:13Yes, that's what it's called, near Bunyan.
00:16But arguably the most memorable stretch of highway is the Bililingra Strait.
00:21For those who drive it for the first time, the long stretch of bitumen is unexpected due to the surrounding
00:28mountainous terrain.
00:29In fact, it's one of the straightest stretches of single lane highway within the Canberra region.
00:36But just how long is it?
00:39While it might seem a bit longer, it's only about 5 kilometres, which means if you travel on the speed
00:46limit, or just below, it takes about 3 minutes to travel.
00:51Oh, and if you're a passenger, keep an eye out for the ostrich.
00:55It's about halfway along in a paddock on the western side of the road.
01:01The Bililingra Strait, a landmark of the Canberra region.
