00:00I think we can be cautiously optimistic, but only because this time we're actually hearing from Iran all the other
00:07times that we've been told.
00:09And I've counted and we have been told by Donald Trump 38 times that a deal is imminent.
00:15But this time we're actually hearing from Tehran as well as Washington.
00:20And so that's where sort of the cautious optimism comes from, you know, because before they were either staying absolutely
00:27silent
00:28or refuting Trump's claims.
00:30Now, looking at this, you know, there is there is optimism in this deal.
00:35But all the optimism is for Iran because I'm not sure who else is benefiting from it.
00:41I have to admit, I was sceptical when I first saw this list because I couldn't see what the U
00:47.S. was getting out of it.
00:48And I wasn't sure how the president was going to sell it to the American people as a win.
00:55Now, the reopening of the Strait of Hamas has obviously been a key part of the deal,
01:00along with, you know, de-escalation of military tensions, rolling back of major economic sanctions,
01:05which have been in place, you know, for decades.
01:07And this talk, as Michael said, of 300 billion dollars worth of investment.
01:12Now, more importantly than perhaps, you know, my opinion, the financial markets seem to find the agreement at least vaguely
01:19credible
01:20because we've seen oil prices fall just on the expectation that shipping and energy exports will soon return to normality.
01:27But so many points still remain unclear.
01:30You know, there's no full terms here.
01:34In fact, Kamala Harris called this the concept of an agreement.
01:37And I have to admit that I sort of agree with her in that respect.
01:40So there's still key questions about sanctions relief, the unfreezing of assets, you know, which assets and where inspections,
01:49enforcement mechanisms are still unresolved or only partially disclosed.
01:53And obviously, one of the key components, you know, for Trump, his key component is that Iran will not develop
02:00a nuclear weapon.
02:01But for me, the key component is involving Israel here and Lebanon and Iran's many proxies,
02:07because those issues have not magically disappeared with this, you know, piece of paper.
