00:00What's up everyone? I'm Wes. I work with New York Post Sports and I got to cover UFC Freedom 250,
00:06the spectacle that it was for the UFC on the White House lawn. First of all, it was a lot
00:11to get
00:11there. There was a lot of streets blocked off so we had to walk quite a bit, go through a
00:15bunch of
00:15security checkpoints to get the credentials, then another security checkpoint just to get into the
00:20ellipse which was the fan area where the watch party was going to begin. As you can tell, the
00:24White House is pretty far away so you cannot see the octagon at all from here. But there was a
00:29lot
00:29of fan service stuff where you can take pictures if you're a massive UFC fan with a bunch of props
00:34everywhere and there was a lot of exhibits open like a meet and greet. You could get a picture with
00:39the
00:39Beast, get a picture with the Budweiser Clydesdale, you could do a weigh-in if you wanted. I passed that
00:44up. I didn't want to do that. Pictures with belts and there was octagons all throughout. Hey, Sean
00:49Strickland crashed the party and fans rushed up to that ring and Sean was actually escorted out because
00:54there was concerns for his safety. He chugs a beer and then there off he goes. The middleweight champion
00:59is out of here. So then we had a bunch of service member events. The service members got into an
01:04octagon and did a little grappling match. Then the service members took the stage as a band and played
01:08a bunch of classic hits. This woman crushed it as the lead singer. She absolutely nailed it. So I found
01:14my spot in the media bleachers because I wanted to sit with the fans to get the ultimate experience.
01:18As you can tell, you cannot see anything from the White House. So it got a little delayed with a
01:24storm in
01:24the area, but the storm did not hit and the event was off with President Trump coming out of the
01:29White House, going to take a seat with Dana White. Then we had a crazy national anthem followed by the
01:34most American flyover with the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds. And the event was on. You saw a
01:40little lightning in the distance. It didn't really get anywhere close to where the White House was,
01:44but it started to clear up and then bang, we had our first knockout of the night. The crowd goes
01:49crazy.
01:49They've been standing and waiting for this moment as the lights flip on. And it was a spectacle to
01:55look around this place. It was crazy. We had a bow nickel knockout followed by a beer snake. There
02:00was a few in the crowd. And then we had another knockout followed by another knockout. And the
02:05knockouts just kept on coming with my guy, Sugar Sean O'Malley, getting another knockout. This was four
02:12knockouts in a row. And then we had our second flyover tonight. This one was absolutely insane.
02:17And then our co-main event started with Alex Pereira jumping to the heavyweight division
02:21to try to claim three title belts in different classes, but he got worked by Serial Gan. And the
02:28crowd favorite of Alex Pereira goes down and people were not happy about the result at all. I was pretty
02:33shocked too. The Potom fans started leaving for the exits, but the main event had to kick off with
02:39Ilya Teporia going up against Justin Gaethje for the lightweight title. Every fan was locked into the
02:46screen. You could hear a pin drop in this place. And after every round, the fans went wild as you
02:51could feel the tension. It was a crazy match. There was one point where the doctors thought
02:56he should have stopped the fight, but they kept it going on and the fans were getting nervous.
03:00And then they jumped up for excitement and the fight continues. But then eventually at the end of
03:05the fourth round, Teporia's Corner threw the towel in and Jesse Gaethje won on the White House lawn as
03:11American to become the lightweight champion. Fireworks at the Washington Monument went out with the big
03:15bang and then everyone headed for the exits. I had to go to the presser where Dana White and all
03:20the
03:20winners took the stage. Dana White loved the event, but complained that it cost too much money.
03:25The fighters loved it, but Dana did not want to pay the price. So after that, at like four in
03:29the morning,
03:30we taped our against the cage episode recap in the entire event where you can find it on YouTube.
03:34And we headed to our hotel at 5 a.m. Follow along for more awesome sports coverage on New York
