00:00This is crazy. I want to speak to the members of Dr. Muhammad Zahid Ibrahim,
00:14the former Secretary of the U.S. of Malaysia, the former Parliament of Kota Baru, Kelantan.
00:22Former Law Minister Zahid Ibrahim has applied for membership in PAS.
00:28Party Secretary General Takiyudin Hassan announced last night, describing it as a surprise.
00:35In announcing Zahid's application, one of 14 who seek to join the party,
00:40Takiyudin said he's the one who can break the Kota Baru seat,
00:44a reference to the time Zahid was MP for Kota Baru from 2004 to 2008 when he was with UMNO.
00:52The others who sought to join PAS included Rafi Abdul Malik, a former Negeri Sembilan Executive Counselor,
00:59and former Ampangan Assemblyman Rahimi Osman, a former aide to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim,
01:05and Hamida Othman, a former Besadu Vice President.
01:23In a Facebook post, Zahid vowed to dispel the perception that PAS is an extreme
01:29and undemocratic party unsuitable for Malaysia's multicultural society.
01:35He argued that PAS was the only Malay-based party with the strength and resolve
01:40to eliminate inequality and class privilege,
01:44saying Islamic principles would guide governance to ensure genuine equality for all.
