Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan has confirmed he will not contest in the upcoming Johor state election, despite speculation linking him to several state seats.

Ahmad, who is also Deputy Works Minister, said he has no intention of contesting either the Benut or Pulai Sebatang state seat within the Pontian parliamentary seat.

00:43those seats. Despite not contesting in the election, the Pontian MP said he would continue
00:48to play an active role in helping Barisan National and UMNO secure victory in the state polls.
00:54The election commission has set July 11th as polling day for the 16th Johor state election,
01:00with nomination days scheduled for June 27th and early voting on July 7th.
