00:03Mr. Perfect and the Hitman lock up.
00:10Trying to push off and both men basically come up with a stalemate right there.
00:15Yes, both had the same balance, the same strength.
00:18And definitely the same amount of skill in that brief encounter.
00:22And this is just a testing out period here.
00:25They're trying each other's strengths and testing their balance.
00:30Both showing a lot of caution as well they should.
00:34And here the air is absolutely pregnant with expectation of a great match.
00:42Want to write that one down too.
00:44Side headlock.
00:50To the other side.
00:53Hitman knocks down Mr. Perfect over the top.
00:57That time the Hitman, not really a hip toss as such,
01:01was kind of just grabbed him by the arms and flung him over.
01:04And that was a very, very nice move by Bret Hart.
01:07It looked for one moment that Mr. Perfect was going to be able to block that move by Hart.
01:12He couldn't and Hart took advantage and it was a sort of a swirling twirling move there.
01:19Swirling twirling.
01:19Yes.
01:22That's exactly what it was.
01:24Good go behind here.
01:25And the Hitman, oh, he nailed it.
01:27Boy, he staggered him with that elbow.
01:29Quickly, Mr. Perfect balances himself upright, but that elbow really stunned him.
01:36Yes, that was an unexpected piece of armory used by Bret Hart there.
01:42Certainly, Mr. Perfect didn't expect him.
01:45To the other side, tackle, down goes Mr. Perfect again.
01:49Tries the leg take down, and the Hitman just stepped over him that time.
01:55I like that move by Hart.
01:58Yeah, he's coming up and saying he's on top of his form tonight.
02:02Yes, he is.
02:03That was like running between tires that I see professional footballers do.
02:07Right.
02:08Great move by the Hitman.
02:12All right, the counter and elbow tie up again.
02:15And Bret Hart takes Mr. Perfect down with a side headlock.
02:19So it's Bret Hart with some great execution, great counter moves so far.
02:23Getting out of some holds, and he has really been the perfect man so far.
02:27Yes, there has been a slight edge definitely in his favor in this match so
02:32far against Mr. Perfect.
02:34But then Mr. Perfect likes to test the firepower of his adversaries.
02:38And in this case, he'd better be careful.
02:40He's going to test Bret Hart maybe too far.
02:44Holding onto the hair that time as Mr. Perfect tried to send him over.
02:50Bret Hart held right onto the locks.
02:53I think that was a little retaliation there because Mr. Perfect had been pulling the hair of Bret Hart,
02:58and they both have considerable locks there of hair, locks of hair that is.
03:03A little retaliation on the part of Bret Hart.
03:05Not headlocks, but locks of hair.
03:07Yes.
03:08Again.
03:11And the referee warning the head man.
03:14Certainly when you go up against someone like a Mr. Perfect,
03:17a man who can at any moment, Alfred, win the match.
03:20Even when you think you're in control,
03:22then maybe taking a shortcut or two is not the most dishonorable thing to do.
03:27Both these men have that ability, that astounding ability,
03:30to be able to win a match at the most unexpected time.
03:34They can sort of dig deep into their reserves of skills, and come up with some move that can win
03:40them the match.
03:40Just like that, they can pull it out of the air.
03:42And that's what plays this such an exciting contest.
03:45There was a case right there, but Mr. Perfect got out of it.
03:48Big shoulder.
03:50It staggered Mr. Perfect over the top, goes a hidden man with a sunset flip.
03:53Gets him over.
03:54Two, and that's it.
03:55Mr. Perfect's out of it.
03:57Great side headlock takeover.
04:01The action is furious in short spurts.
04:04That was really, really clever, intelligent wrestling there on the part of the Hitman Hart.
04:09And unfortunately for Mr. Perfect, his balance was slightly off when he got out of that perfect pin by Bret
04:16Hart.
04:16And he staggered right back into that headlock.
04:19Bret Hart didn't mind finding himself in that position at all.
04:25Now a little primitive move to execute an escape.
04:32To the other side.
04:34The crucifix, takedown.
04:37Mr. Perfect gets out of it again, once again a takeover.
04:41Right now, the Hitman is complete command of this match.
04:45And I would say that, Tony, is because he really has just a tiny edge on speed at the moment.
04:50I think he is the fastest man in the ring as it stands at this moment.
04:55Certainly, Mr. Perfect doing his best to get out of it.
05:00Two good looking holds applied there by Bret Hart.
05:06And he certainly managed to execute them very, very well indeed.
05:13Side headlock.
05:15One, two, three, four.
05:18Big shot from Mr. Perfect.
05:20And that was perfectly executed.
05:22It was.
05:24Both men now doing the unexpected.
05:26They're not just conforming to orthodox wrestling moves.
05:32They're both trying the unexpected on each other.
05:34And I, we should have foreseen that anyway.
05:38Legs we take down that time from Hitman hovering over a very vulnerable right now, Mr. Perfect.
05:44Certainly, of all positions to be in in wrestling, this is not one of them.
05:47No, right into the solar plexus with that boot.
05:50And now, I would say that this belt is swinging gradually more and more in favor of Bret Hart.
05:58Until then.
05:59Sending Bret Hart in hard.
06:01And then with a hard slam, Mr. Perfect tries to cover him up.
06:05Bret Hart kicks out.
06:06He picks up Mr. Perfect.
06:08Slams him down.
06:09Mr. Perfect does the same thing.
06:12Face first to the mat.
06:15Certainly unexpected.
06:16Big clothesline.
06:17Mr. Perfect over the top.
06:19Down to the floor.
06:21What power there by Hart.
06:22With that clothesline.
06:24Hit him so hard he went clean over the top rope.
06:27I can only sit and watch this match in complete amazement.
06:32Two great athletes going at it here.
06:35And you can really say that Bret Hart, and we've seen him many times, but
06:39he is really prepared tonight.
06:42Look at the look on the face of Mr. Perfect there.
06:45He's absolutely astounded.
06:47He's trying to work this one out.
06:48He's thinking very, very hard.
06:50And the one good thing about him, or the one great thing I should say,
06:53is that he is one of those rare wrestlers who are able to change their game plan
06:59at any moment during a contest.
07:02Most wrestlers come in with a set game plan.
07:05One would think that if he's changing a game plan, now would be the time,
07:08because watch this move, Alfred.
07:10Wow.
07:11You could see exactly how Bret Hart hit him with a sort of upper lifting arm motion
07:16that sent him clean over the top rope and has forced him into this situation,
07:21reassessing his game plan, obviously putting it back together again.
07:24And I would say he's going to come in with a different strategy.
07:27Fans really don't like to see this from Mr. Perfect wasting time,
07:30but I really think he's doing the right thing.
07:32He is.
07:32He's buying himself a wrestlers timeout.
07:35This is how they do it.
07:36And taking any momentum away from Bret Hart that he can,
07:40and that's exactly what he's doing.
07:41And that's a very clever, clever maneuver.
07:44And he's pulling it off.
07:46The referee cannot do a thing about it.
07:48Bret Hart really should stay right there.
07:50Well, he's done the right thing now at last.
07:52I think Bret Hart has realized that he's got to stay away
07:55to get him back into the ring.
07:57Well, it's too late.
07:59He's coming very, very refreshed.
08:01Now we're back to square one basically here.
08:04More or less.
08:05And it was a great move that got him on the outside,
08:07or a great maneuver, that big clothesline.
08:09But basically, Mr. Perfect comes back in,
08:12sticks his head through the ropes, and the fans here at the Boston Garden
08:14certainly don't appreciate that move.
08:15Now even so, lurking in the head of Mr. Perfect must be the thought
08:19that for the first seven or eight minutes of this match,
08:22he's been on the receiving end of some very, very good wrestling moves.
08:30The collar and elbow tie up.
08:32Mr. Perfect gets back to a neutral corner on the near side.
08:35Oh, and a big forearm that time.
08:37That glanced off the top of the head there, didn't it?
08:40Yes, it was a nicely placed move.
08:42And obviously, his game plan now is to come back in
08:45and try the primitive approach to this.
08:47Some more damaging physical contact blows,
08:51such as that knee lift, some kicks to the head, some punches.
08:56Maybe the wrestling is not paying off for Mr. Perfect.
08:59He's reassessed his situation.
09:01Tell you what, give Mr. Perfect a lot of credit,
09:04because he bought a lot of time on the outside,
09:07and it's turned the match around for him.
09:11Great wrestlers can definitely do that, and he has.
09:16Down on the floor with Bret Hart.
09:21Grabs him by the hair.
09:23Right hand on the face.
09:25Bret Hart goes face first to the Mets on the outside.
09:31And that, of course, has drawn the referee away from his count.
09:34So he's going to have to start a fresh count over again,
09:37which does give a measure of respite to Bret Hart,
09:41who's now maybe this man has got to rethink his game plan.
09:46Although I don't see why he should.
09:48And what he has to do now is trying to stop this sudden onslaught
09:52by Mr. Perfect and take over where he left off a little while ago.
09:56Right hand to the side of the head.
09:59Bret Hart still on the floor.
10:00Mr. Perfect to the boos of the fans, smiling in the ring.
10:04A very confident man is that man, the head man, tries to walk this one off.
10:13Mr. Perfect allowing Bret Hart to get in.
10:18Right hand, he just turns away from Bret Hart.
10:21Circles the referee.
10:22Oh, that time he pushed on the top rope,
10:25and Bret Hart hit the safety rail very hard.
10:28He did indeed, and that move took me by surprise.
10:32Although he's being admonished by the referee,
10:34that was really a great move there by Mr. Perfect.
10:37You expect the springboard in, don't you?
10:40You do indeed, and that's exactly what I expected.
10:42That's what I was looking for.
10:43Took everybody by surprise, especially Bret Hart,
10:46who hit that steel barrier very, very heavily.
10:49And the referee's showing a lot of tolerance here,
10:51and he's allowing the man on the outside, Bret Hart,
10:55some breathing space.
10:57Would you read it that way, Tony?
10:59Absolutely.
11:02But the complexion of this match certainly has changed
11:06for the remainder of the match.
11:07I would dare say that Bret Hart is the same man now
11:10and will be the remainder of the match as he was when he first came in.
11:14Because he really took a tumble out there.
11:15Yes, he did indeed, and this is really a very, very uncomfortable time
11:20for Bret Hart.
11:21But it would be interesting to see the-
11:23Here is a-
11:25Well-
11:26I thought a three count.
11:27So did I, but Bret Hart got out of it.
11:30I was about to say it would be interesting to see that although he's taken a lot of
11:35physical punishment, if he's mentally capable of waging his own attack,
11:39and he is very mentally alert.
11:41Bret Hart sending Mr. Perfect again, good reversal.
11:43Hart hit the top turnbuckle very hard, right on the chest.
11:47And now a cover, hooking the leg, and Bret Hart is out again.
11:52There's an astonished Mr. Perfect.
11:54And to me, a seemingly impossible escape there by Bret Hart.
11:58I would have thought definitely Hart was out of this picture by now, but no,
12:03he still lives again.
12:05And while he is in there, and he hasn't been pinned or hasn't been beaten,
12:09there is always a chance somewhere along the line.
12:13Every move now from Mr. Perfect, Alfred, is executed with such force on Bret Hart,
12:19to the turnbuckle.
12:20Yes, he's beginning to pick his shots now, Mr. Perfect.
12:23And that is a sign that your opposition is tiring, and is unable to defend himself.
12:29Look at that.
12:29That was as good a standing drop kick as you'll find anywhere in the world.
12:35And only Bret Hart could kick out from that.
12:37I don't think anybody else would have the courage, the grit, the determination,
12:41or the skill to do it.
12:45Hart gets the foot right to the solar plexus, and is helped up by Mr. Perfect.
12:49Big shot, knocked him right down.
12:51Mr. Perfect right now at the top of his game.
12:55I'm inclined to wonder at this particular moment, all great wrestlers keep something
12:59in reserve.
13:00Has Bret Hart anything left in reserve after all he's taken?
13:04Or has he blown everything completely?
13:07Got a spinning toe hold on now.
13:11You see the leg, right there.
13:16And that's a painful move, as I'm sure you know, Lord Alfred.
13:20It is indeed, but is this the right maneuver?
13:23That Mr. Perfect should have taken.
13:26Face first, he goes into the corner.
13:28Actually hit his shoulder that time on the top rope.
13:32And just as I was asking myself if he should have taken that.
13:36You got your answer?
13:37I got my answer more quickly than I ever expected.
13:42Because he really was all over Bret Hart with his power attack.
13:47And then when he came to that wearing down maneuver, it didn't work at all.
13:51Bret Hart now to the attack, stomping Mr. Perfect, grabbing both sides of the head,
13:55pulling the hair, pulling the man up, sending him back to the corner.
13:59Right hand, right on that shoulder.
14:02He's working out the shoulder that hit the top rope that time.
14:04And this match proving to be everything we thought it would be, living up to all his
14:09expectations.
14:10Two great athletes, two great wrestlers, really taking their toll of each other.
14:15And by now, both men really showing signs of a lot of wear.
14:19I think either of them are ripe for the pickings if they want to execute.
14:23Look!
14:27You wonder now how much more pressure Mr. Perfect can take.
14:31And ironic, because it was Bret Hart that hit the outside rail.
14:35And it was Bret Hart that we thought was sustaining the most damage.
14:39But now it's not the case.
14:40It's Mr. Perfect who's sustaining a lot of damage.
14:43But he reverses the crucifix again.
14:47And Mr. Perfect goes back with him.
14:50You might catch Mr. Perfect with one move once,
14:53which Bret Hart executed perfectly a little while ago.
14:55And here's a three count coming up.
14:58So close.
15:00And I was going to say, you'll never catch him with the same move twice.
15:04And that's exactly what Bret Hart tried to do.
15:06And the results were almost curtains for Bret Hart.
15:13All right.
15:14Mr. Perfect helping him up, at least momentarily.
15:17And then knees him right down again.
15:20The fans trying to rally behind the Hitman.
15:24The sign of two remarkable athletes.
15:26When you think one man has the advantage, the other man will fool you.
15:29Yes.
15:30Isn't that absolutely incredible?
15:33Both these men, what excellent wrestlers they are.
15:36And just as you say, the moment you think one is taking the upper hand,
15:39the other will come around and reverse that situation.
15:47Now, into the ropes.
15:49Bret trying and getting the abdominal stretch.
15:52Here we go once again.
15:54Thinking Mr. Perfect has the advantage.
15:56What does the Hitman do?
15:57Great counter move of the abdominal stretch.
15:59Mr. Perfect gets out of it.
16:01It came out the crude way, the hit for Mr. Perfect.
16:03However, terribly effective.
16:05And although Bret Hart showed the edge in speed when they went round and round,
16:09trying to get that abdominal stretch on each other.
16:12A domino, I should say, stretch on each other.
16:16The victor was the speedier Bret Hart.
16:18Over the top, Mr. Perfect.
16:21Sending Bret Hart into the ropes.
16:22Rolling the man up.
16:23One, two.
16:25And Bret Hart pushing Mr. Perfect out.
16:31What a great move there by Bret Hart.
16:34Obviously, there's still a lot inside that man.
16:37He does have those reserves of energy.
16:38We were talking about over the top rope.
16:41But he'll never pull him out.
16:42Pin him from here.
16:45He won't pin him, but he certainly didn't level the man.
16:47One, two.
16:49Head first.
16:51For the wooden steps.
16:52Actually, mouth first, as you can see right there.
16:56Rolling now, Mr. Perfect in.
16:58Bret Hart right behind.
17:00And now, Mr. Perfect trying to beg the Hitman off.
17:04And Bret Hart, that adrenaline is flowing.
17:06He's got a lot of energy now.
17:08A lot of reserve energy has come through.
17:10And he's showing it.
17:12Tremendous snap suplex.
17:16Everybody waiting for that three.
17:18One, two, one.
17:21Tremendous encounter between these two men.
17:24The Roll Up.
17:26Two.
17:26And Mr. Perfect out again.
17:29But this time, not quite so close for that three.
17:32But nice out there by Mr. Perfect, who's trying to pull himself together.
17:35But at the moment, everything going in the direction of Bret Hart.
17:38Look at the power in him now.
17:40One handed.
17:42Backbreaker.
17:43And the bell sounds.
17:45On one count, the bell sounds.
17:52The timekeeper and the referee with some discussion here.
17:56We'll have to get the official verdict on this.
17:59Let us go to our MC.
18:02Ladies and gentlemen, the time limit on this bout has expired.
18:05The official decision, a draw.
18:11I didn't notice that time, that precious time ebbing away.
18:14And I believe neither did the two contestants.
18:17So close was it contested all the way.
18:21And yet that is the official verdict.
18:23Time has elapsed.
18:24Therefore, this is ruled a draw.
18:26And here's the hit man.
18:27He's got the microphone.
18:28Hey, Mr. Perfect.
18:30I think you showed everybody here that you're not so perfect after all.
