00:01We go now to Australia, where national team great Joe Ingles is returning home,
00:07signing with Melbourne United in the National Basketball League.
00:11The 38-year-old began his professional career in Melbourne with the South Dragons 20 years ago,
00:17earning Rookie of the Year honors and winning an NBL title in 2009.
00:24He would then move to Europe for successful stints with Granada, Barcelona, and Maccabi Tel Aviv
00:31before 12 years in the NBA with Utah, Milwaukee, Orlando, and Minnesota.
00:39He was runner-up for the league's sixth man of the year award in 2021
00:43and is Utah's all-time leader in three-pointers made.
00:49Ingles has represented the Boomers at four FIBA World Cups and five Olympics
00:53and was part of the team that took home a historic bronze from the Tokyo Games.
01:02Also in the NBL, World Cup winning coach Gordon Herbert has been appointed to lead the New Zealand Breakers.
01:11Herbert famously led the German national team to glory at the 2023 FIBA World Cup
01:17having also claimed bronze on home soil at Eurobasket the year before.
01:21He would step down after the Paris Olympics where Germany finished fourth.
01:28He has also had a stint in charge of the Georgian national team
01:32and overseen success in the club game,
01:35winning Bundesliga titles with Skyliners Frankfurt in 2004
01:39and Bayern Munich last year
01:41and a French Cup with Paolac Ortez.
01:44Other stops include Wurzburg, Aris, and Alba Berlin,
01:48assistant with the Toronto Raptors.
01:54Herbert also serves as head coach of Canada,
01:56who he represented at the LA 1984 Olympics as a player
02:00and is now set to take the side to next year's World Cup in Qatar
02:04and another LA Games in 2028.
