The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time appears to be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, and while Nintendo didn't show much in the trailer, there was enough to get fans talking. In this clip, I break down what was shown, what it could mean for the future of Zelda on Switch 2, and whether this classic adventure deserves more than just another re-release.

Do you think Nintendo is planning something bigger for Ocarina of Time, or is this simply a way to bring the legendary N64 classic to a new audience?

00:00The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake is Real, launching this year on Switch 2.
00:05The long-running rumors were right.
00:08The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is getting a full remake for Nintendo's Switch 2,
00:12and it's scheduled to release sometime this year.
00:15During today's reveal, we saw only a brief teaser, but it was enough to confirm the project's existence.
00:21The trailer leaned heavily on nostalgia, opening with a narration of the game's familiar setup.
00:25The Land of Hyrule, the Kokiri living in the forest with their fairies, and one boy who hasn't yet received
00:32his own.
00:32Link.
00:33We then see young Link asleep as the Triforce mark begins to glow on the back of his hand, followed
00:39immediately by the logo reveal.
00:41That's it. No gameplay, no systems, no explanation, just a confirmation that the remake is happening.
00:48And while that's enough to get attention, it also raises a lot of questions.
00:53What does this version of Ocarina of Time actually look like in motion?
00:57The brief glimpse of Link suggests a noticeably updated art style, one that appears closer to Twilight Princess than more
01:04recent Zelda entries.
01:06But beyond aesthetics, there's still no word on how deeply the game is being rebuilt.
01:10Will combat be modernized?
01:12Has the camera and targeting system been reworked?
01:15And perhaps most importantly for returning players, will Na'vi still interrupt at exactly the wrong moment with the same
01:22unforgettable level of persistence?
01:24There's also the bigger question.
01:26How faithful is this remake going to be?
01:28Is it a near shot-for-shot recreation of the original?
01:31Or will it introduce new story elements, expanded dungeons, or reimagined mechanics?
01:36A full remake of Ocarina of Time is no small undertaking.
01:41The original is widely considered one of the most influential video games ever made, and expectations will be extremely high.
01:48Any changes, big or small, are likely to spark debate among long-time fans.
01:53It also puts Nintendo in a similar conversation to recent high-profile remake projects, like Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII
02:01Remake Series,
02:01where modern reinterpretation becomes as important as preservation.
02:05Based on the brief footage shown, this does appear to be a ground-up rebuild, rather than a simple remaster,
02:11though Nintendo has yet to confirm specifics.
02:15Interestingly, the timing suggests we won't be waiting long for more information.
02:19If the game really is targeting a release later this year, then a holiday window feels likely, meaning full gameplay
02:25footage could surface in the coming months.
02:29And if Nintendo is spacing out its major releases carefully, there's even speculation, still firmly unconfirmed,
02:36that this remake could end up occupying a late-year slot with very little direct competition.
02:41But that's getting ahead of things.
02:43For now, what's clear is simple.
02:45Ocarina of Time is coming back, rebuilt for a new generation.
02:49And despite the lack of details, that alone is enough to dominate conversation until the next reveal finally arrives.
02:58Yeah, The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time.
03:02Wasn't that also remade for 3DS?
03:05Or was that a different Zelda game that I'm thinking of?
03:08I could have sworn that one of the N64 games was remade for 3DS, but I could, that just could
03:13be,
03:16I could just be remembering that long.
03:19When it comes to Ocarina of Time, I do have one question.
03:24The Skulltellas, are they still in the game?
03:27And if they are, are they going to look just as deathly terrifying as they did in the N64 version?
03:34As someone who played Zelda on Nintendo and Super Nintendo, I cannot play Ocarina of Time on N64.
03:40Or, those Skulltellas just creep me out.
03:45I mean, they make the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
03:51So, and I just thought, if they are remaking this game, you know, with modern graphics,
03:58how are they going to look in this one?
04:03Um, and I don't know what it is about the Skulltellas, you know, I don't have a problem with spiders,
04:07I don't have a problem with bugs, I, but just when, like, I, I was in the, uh, I was
04:15a kid,
04:15I was like 9, and I was playing the original Ocarina of Time on Nintendo 64 in the Deku Tree,
04:20so it was the beginning of the game, and like, just like a Skulltella drop down,
04:26and I, I could never go back to, um, Ocarina of Time after that.
04:32Um, it sucks that I missed out on that one,
04:35um, but, like, even watching gameplay from someone else,
04:40and, like, seeing, uh, like, Skulltellas, like, under a rock or something,
04:47I just can't stand those things.
04:49I, I don't know what it is, but there's just some, maybe,
04:54maybe just because they scared me as a kid, you know, what still,
04:57what scared you as a kid scared you, um, still scares you as an adult.
05:02Maybe that's something, since it, um, but, yeah, I've never been able to get into Ocarina of Time
05:10because of the Skulltellas, and I just wonder if they're gonna look even a whole lot more creepy now
05:14if they're gonna go with current Zelda, um, graphics.
05:22And, so, I mean, are you excited for Ocarina of Time coming to Switch 2?
05:27Um, did the Skulltellas ever bother you like they did me?
05:32Um, let me know in the comments section.
