00:00Apex Legends heads to Night City with the new Cyberpunk 2077 crossover event.
00:06Apex Legends is getting another major crossover, and this time Respawn Entertainment is teaming up with CD Projekt Red to
00:13bring the world of Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk Edgerunners into the Battle Royale.
00:19Following previous collaborations with Final Fantasy 7 and Gundam, the latest event transforms parts of Apex Legends into a futuristic
00:28Cyberpunk battlefield, complete with themed cosmetics, map changes, and new gameplay mechanics inspired by Night City.
00:36Cyberpunk characters come to Apex Legends.
00:39The collaboration introduces eight new Legends skins based on iconic characters from Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
00:47The featured character pairings include Axel as Lucy, Sparrow as David Martinez, Rampart as Rebecca, Crypto as Male V or
00:57Male 5, Lifeline as Female V or Female 5, Gibraltar as Royce, Loba as Panem, Ash as Lizzy Wizzy.
01:08Lizzy Wizzy?
01:11I would make jokes, but I'll move on.
01:15According to Respawn, each pairing was carefully selected to match both the appearance and personality of the Cyberpunk characters.
01:23Night City takes over E-District.
01:25The crossover isn't limited to cosmetics.
01:28The game's E-District map has been redesigned with a Night City-inspired aesthetic featuring neon lighting, futuristic architecture, and
01:36locations influenced by the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
01:39Developers say the map already shared similarities with Night City, making it a natural fit for the collaboration.
01:46New Wild Card Abilities Inspired by Cyberware.
01:50The event also brings Cyberpunk-themed gameplay changes to Wild Card Mode, introducing two new Cyberware abilities inspired by the
01:58anime's main characters.
02:00One ability is based on David Martinez's Sandivistan, allowing players to tap into enhanced speed and mobility.
02:07The other draws inspiration from Lucy, giving players access to Black Wall Breach, a powerful hacking ability designed to disrupt
02:15nearby enemies.
02:16These additions are intended to capture the unique combat style of the Cyberpunk universe, while fitting seamlessly into Apex Legends'
02:24fast-paced gameplay.
02:26New weapons and skins, including Skippy.
02:29Players can also unlock a collection of Cyberpunk-themed weapon skins for several popular firearms, including the Wingman, Charge Rifle,
02:38Mastiff, L-Star, P-2020, RE-45, R-301, and Kraber.
02:44The highlight is a new mythic alternator skin inspired by Skippy, the talking smart weapon from Cyberpunk 2077.
02:54Respawn says the weapon doesn't just resemble Skippy visually, it also features custom animations and voice lines, making it one
03:02of the studio's most interactive mythic weapon designs to date.
03:06Community Reaction.
03:08As with many crossover events, excitement has been mixed with criticism over cosmetic pricing.
03:13Some players joked that purchasing every event skin could cost more than buying Cyberpunk 2077 itself.
03:20Others pointed out that the complete edition of Cyberpunk 2077, including its expansion, has frequently been available on sale for
03:28less than the price of just a couple of premium Apex cosmetics.
03:32Despite concerns over pricing, many fans have praised the collaboration's art direction and the decision to bring one of gaming's
03:38most recognizable futuristic worlds into Apex Legends.
03:42Between the Night City makeover, new abilities, and character-inspired cosmetics, the event is shaping up to be one of
03:49the game's most ambitious crossover updates yet.
03:57Okay, I'm not going to make fun of Lizzy Wizzy name, even though I want to.
04:02But the thing is, with these cosmetics, one has to wonder exactly, I'm going to pull that up right now,
04:13how much are the Cyberpunk cosmetics in Apex Legends?
04:23See if they have, like, prices revealed, or prices, um...
04:29The Apex Legends Cyberpunk 2077 event cosmetics primarily cost 2,150 Apex coins each, roughly equivalent to $20 when purchased
04:39directly from the in-game store.
04:41Bundles and event packs are also available, which, with select character theme skins, can be unlocked for free through in
04:48-game event challenges.
04:50Okay, so, with, uh, about $20 each, I'm not sure how many there are, though, that's the thing.
05:01Uh, so, yeah, there's...
05:04Wait a minute, so is each skin $20?
05:10Because that's like, because if you get 8 skins, that's $140, I think.
05:16No, $160.
05:18Yeah, $160.
05:19If each, um...
05:21That's not counting the weapons, that's not counting, um...
05:25And that's not counting all the other stuff that you can purchase.
05:30And one thing I do not want Apex Legends to do, um...
05:35Dr. Games 101 and Darkness the Curse joined me, uh, back in November of 2020.
05:39We do not want this to follow the, um, Apex Legends to follow the, um, trajectory of Dead or Alive.
05:48Mainly 5 and 6 with their cosmetics.
05:55Um, so, yeah, 8 skins, and that's $20 each.
05:59And then, let's see how much the crossover weapons are.
06:03How much are the cyberpunk, uh...
06:06Uh, weapons in Apex Legends.
06:10See if I can get an answer for that.
06:13Uh, it says the iconic crossover weapon skins are also, are priced at $19.99 each.
06:20And that's for 8 weapons.
06:23So, so far, you got 8 weapons, you got 8 characters, $20 each.
06:31So, yeah, 20 times 8, that's 160 times 2, because it's for the characters and then for the weapons.
06:39Um, that's $320 in cosmetics.
06:43And that's not, I mean, they did say that some of this can be earned in-game, um, if you
06:49don't want to have to buy Apex Legends coins.
06:54But, it's, it's, it just, it just sounds, it, it sounds so much for a cosmetic.
07:00I mean, keep in mind, you're not actually buying these characters.
07:03You're just buying a skin that looks like them.
07:06Um, maybe you got the money to spend it, on it.
07:10But, would you really buy it at $20 a pop?
07:13And that goes the same for the weapons that resemble, uh, the weapons from cyberpunk.
07:19Um, it, it sounds overpriced to me.
07:23Um, but, I'm also not the, I'm not an Apex Legends player.
07:29Um, I do wish Dr. Games 101 was here.
07:32But, I mean, I could imagine that if he was here and, um, we were covering the story together, he'd
07:39probably say he wouldn't have the money to buy it.
07:41Or he'd have the money to get one.
07:43With all, with still keeping on top, uh, top of the bills that he had to pay.
07:51So, you know, let me know what you think.
07:52Maybe, maybe I'm wrong, because I don't spend money in online games.
07:56I don't play free-to-play games, um, because the games that interest me most I'll actually buy.
08:03But then, then I hate when they, when you buy a game, and then they want to charge you more
08:08on top of that.
08:09That usually kills my interest in the, uh, franchise.
08:13Maybe I'm wrong.
08:14Maybe I'm wrong.
08:15Uh, let me, let me know what you think.
