00:00but you're despicable. Drew Anthony, Kayla, you're cowards. You wouldn't even show up
00:08for your son's sentencing or victim statement impacts. You abandoned your kid. You left him
00:16there. I guess he's no more used to you because you can't get any more GoFundMe money or GoSendGo
00:21money. You are grifters. You should be ashamed of yourself. You raised that child, and I swear to
00:28God, CPS, for sure. I'm checking on those other three that you still have.
00:34So that is Jeff Metcalf, the father of Austin Metcalf, the young high schooler that was stabbed
00:45and unfortunately passed away due to Carmelo Anthony stabbing him. That's his dad. And
00:56now that the gag order is off, he is not holding back whatsoever. He is letting it fly. And I
01:05want
01:05to talk about it because of course you can bet your bottom dollar that the liberals are going to be
01:15really, really angry about this one. So with that being said, let's hop right on into it, shall we?
01:21Or at least some of it because it's pretty darn long. So I'm not going to show you guys all
01:26of it, but here's
01:27just a snippet. Let's jump in. Support somebody blindly, even though they did wrong. You're going to support
01:35someone who does something against the law. You're encouraging and saying it's okay because he's a certain
01:41color. Oh, you've got more melanin than me. Ooh. So you get more in privileges, more entitlement
01:50because 400 years ago, someone actually sold you to us and we took you over here and put you to
02:00work.
02:00And then we had a civil war to free your ass.
02:06And now you want to talk shit. Oh, I've been so oppressed. You couldn't even vote 1960.
02:14Look how far you've come. Look at all the free shit we give you.
02:21You're not oppressed. You're fucking entitled. You know what D.E.I. stands for? Yeah. Means I don't
02:29have to be fucking qualified. I just have to be a certain color or a race or gender.
02:37Whose broad ass ideal was that? I don't know about you, but when I grew up, there was no participation
02:44trophy. Yeah. There wasn't a safe space created for me because my feelings were hurt.
02:56We had to take actual responsibility for our own actions. Wow. What a concept.
03:08If you want society to change, if you want a better place for your kids, then get involved
03:15in your kid's life, in your community, in your church. But don't sit on your couch and bitch
03:23when it doesn't go your way. Next question.
03:28The next question is, are you satisfied with the sentence that Carmelo Anthony received?
03:33Do you believe Austin has received justice?
03:38That's a real easy question for me to know. Hell no.
03:42What is justice?
03:45Justice for me is when Austin walks through that door and can hug me.
03:50That's how long he should stay in jail until he comes, my son comes back through that door.
03:56Do I think justice was served? No.
04:00There's all types of justice. Street justice, legal justice, but no justice. No.
04:11Austin will never come back to that.
04:12So yeah, you heard a little bit of that there. He also did an interview with a local news station
04:19that I think you guys should hear as well. Check it out.
04:25As Anthony now begins paying the price for his conviction,
04:29Austin Metcalf's father tonight is talking only with our J.D. Miles
04:32about the price that his family is paying.
04:46Jeff Metcalf finally had a chance to read the words he's been writing in a notebook to address his son's
04:52killer.
04:53You said people think that grief is sadness, but it's not. It's rage.
04:58Oh.
04:59Pure, unfiltered rage.
05:01You failed yourself. You failed your parents. You failed society.
05:06You don't belong in this community.
05:08That's correct.
05:10Metcalf's victim impact statement came at the end of Carmelo Anthony's murder trial.
05:14For months, the father of Austin Metcalf has been silenced by a gag order imposed by the judge.
05:20Now he's free to speak publicly and says he's also free of something else.
05:26When I woke up this morning, it was a very different feeling.
05:34When I woke up, I felt like a million pounds had been lifted off my shoulders
05:39because I used to wake up every morning with this anxiety, with this feeling of dread.
05:47And this morning was the first day I woke up with a feeling of peace, comfort, tranquility
05:59that I haven't experienced in 14 months.
06:04And I felt Austin.
06:09Metcalf was in court every day of Anthony's trial.
06:12The 19-year-old now convicted murderer not only took his son Austin's life,
06:17he did it right in front of Austin's twin brother, Hunter.
06:21What killed me was the body cam footage when I could hear Hunter screaming.
06:29Oh God, oh God, oh God, my brother, my twin.
06:36You know, as a parent, you always want to protect your kids.
06:39And to hear my son and the fear in his voice,
06:48and I'm not there to fix it.
06:50What was it like sitting in that courtroom with Carmelo Anthony for five or six days?
06:56Challenging is the first word that comes to my mind.
07:02And I'll even say this, I had a little bit of sorrow because I'm human.
07:10And that poor boy is fixing to experience a life that I would not wish upon anyone.
07:17Metcalf says even today he's received death threats
07:20and has previously endured doxing of his personal information
07:24and multiple swatting calls to his house
07:26from people who he says have tried to villainize Austin and the family.
07:31I would hope they take a look in the mirror.
07:35And if you have children, and if it was your child who was murdered,
07:40would you like people dragging his name through the mud,
07:44making memes, making jokes, and just really vile comments?
07:52Where do you and the Metcalf family go from here?
07:55Well, I mean, this is day one of a long healing process
08:06because, honestly, it's been impossible to start healing
08:11until this trial was complete.
08:14The trial may be over, but the racial polarization among Americans
08:18on display outside the Collin County Courthouse continues.
08:23Look at the effect, not just the effect here
08:28between the Metcalf family and the Anthony family.
08:33Look what it did, one, to those kids they have to live with.
08:39Two, it took on this huge, wider, let's have a race war
08:47throughout the nation.
08:50Metcalf insists that his son had no racist motives
08:53when he approached Anthony about leaving a track team tent.
08:56This case was never by race.
08:58There's going to be those people now that just, you know,
09:01try to throw shade on the whole trial,
09:03with the jury makeup and the speed of it and that sort of thing.
09:07I mean, those are the same people that said
09:09he was jumped by four people, his phone was broken.
09:13You're going to spend whatever story
09:15to try to keep yourself afloat.
09:17Metcalf believes Anthony should have received a life sentence.
09:20He says if Anthony is up for parole in 17 years,
09:24he will be there in some form to argue against it.
09:27If I'm still alive, yes, I will be there in person.
09:31If not, I am going to make a video, if I'm passed on, that can be played.
09:37There are no walls in Metcalf's home
09:39without photos or paintings of Austin and his twin.
09:42These images and a scholarship in his son's name
09:45are what remain for this father,
09:47who says he's ready to finally forgive, but not forget.
09:52But people need to understand about forgiveness.
09:54Forgiveness was not for him.
09:56Forgiveness was for me, so I don't carry the rage, the hate, and that around.
10:00It will eat me up like cancer.
10:01J.D. Miles.
10:04So, yeah, I just wanted to let that play
10:06without interrupting it a thousand times.
10:10So, yeah, obviously a little more subdued
10:13in the, you know, news interview
10:16than he was in the live that you guys saw at the beginning.
10:21Because in the live, boy, was he letting it rip.
10:24He was letting it rip, letting it fly all over the place.
10:27And listen, I can't blame him.
10:29Like, every single person would be angry
10:31if that was their child.
10:32We all know that, you know?
10:34Like, everybody would be angry and upset
10:37if their kid was stabbed to death at a track meet, you know?
10:42Obviously shouldn't have happened,
10:43and I talked about this yesterday.
10:45It's weird to go sit under somebody else's tent
10:47just because you know somebody.
10:49Everybody knows that.
10:50Anybody that's ever run track knows that.
10:52You don't sit under other people's tent.
10:54And if they ask you to leave,
10:56you don't then cause a scene.
10:57Just get up and leave.
10:58If the team is asking you to leave, go.
11:01That's not your tent.
11:02That's not your school.
11:03Go to where your school tent is, you know?
11:06Like, this ain't rocket science here.
11:09But condolences to the family.
11:12Obviously, you know,
11:14Carmelo's family is going to file an appeal,
11:17which they already did.
11:18We'll see how that goes.
11:19Y'all can let me know in the comments section.
11:21Do you think he'll get off on the appeal?
11:24Do you think the sentence will be reduced?
11:29What are you guys thinking?
11:30Let me know because there is an appeal coming.
11:33Well, it's already been filed,
11:34so it's most certainly going to happen.
11:38So, yeah, let me know in the comments, man.
11:40What are you guys thinking?
11:41And how would you feel if this was your child?
11:44Would you have said some of the same things
11:46that, you know, Jeff Metcalf had said?
11:49Let me know.
11:50Stay safe out there.
11:51Peace and love.
11:51I'm out.
