Major improvement works are due to start next month on a key Liverpool route linking Wavertree High Street and Picton Road. The scheme forms part of wider investment to improve journey reliability, pedestrian safety and traffic flow across the city region, with disruption expected during construction.

00:00Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians in Liverpool are set for months of disruption
00:04as major improvement works begin on Wavertree High Street and Picton Road.
00:08The scheme, starting on Monday 6th July, forms part of more than £2 million of investment
00:14from the Liverpool City Region Key Route Network levelling up programme.
00:18The work will be delivered over around 26 weeks,
00:21covering the stretch from Spothorth Road Junction to Picton Clock.
00:25Planned upgrades include full resurfacing, improved traffic signal systems
00:29designed to improve flow and new push-button crossings at key junctions.
00:34Council leaders say disruption will be managed carefully,
00:37although some lane closures and temporary traffic lights will be needed during early survey work.
00:43Residents and businesses will be kept informed through Council updates on social media,
00:47with diversion information also available via Mersey Travel.
00:51Once complete, the scheme will form part of wider city-region investment
00:56aimed at improving reliability and resilience on key roads across Liverpool.

01:04allowing residents to meet the team and ask questions ahead of construction.
