00:12Here we go soldiers, fully loaded 2000. We really deserve something good after Bash at the Beach,
00:18so fingers crossed the WWF delivered a night. We're in Dallas, Texas, it's the 23rd of July,
00:2316,500 are in the building and we've got 420,000 watching on pay-per-view. Always found it a
00:29bit
00:29weird that this show had a casino theme, but that's because the tagline for this pay-per-view
00:34was… the crapshoot. Absolute genius stuff here from the marketing team.
00:39The WWF are promoting this show as having three main events, The Undertaker vs Kurt Angle, Triple
00:44H vs Chris Jericho in a last man standing match, and The Rock defending his WWF title against
00:50Chris Benoit. I do wonder if all six men got paid main event money for this show.
00:55We kick off with Team Extreme vs Test, Albert and Trish Stratus should be a crowd pleaser.
01:06This opener centres around the Lita and Trish rivalry that really just began building up
01:10over the last month. Big Test stops Lita from getting her hands on Trish and the crowd chant
01:15Lita's name is Albert and Matt Hardy get to work. We're gonna spend the match building
01:19towards the inevitable clash between the ladies in the ring and you can tell as much by the
01:24production work, we have action going on in the ring yet the cameras cut to Trish a lot. Either
01:28that or the man putting these shows together is an absolute horndog but who knows, right?
01:33The camera cuts are quite annoying actually, I mean Matt was setting up a unique top rope
01:37arm drag and look at the way it's presented on TV. I wanna see graps ladies and gents,
01:42I'm a wrestling dork. Matt gets dumped out of the ring and Tess gets tagged in, Matt stops
01:47a superplex and the crowd come alive for a leg drop, there's a high pitched squeal from
01:51the audience when Jeff gets tagged in, the chicks dig their rainbow haired warrior, and then
01:55the men in the crowd chant we want puppies just to restore some balance. Either way the
02:00crowd's having a lot of fun here. Jeff takes a spinning sidewalk slam, we then go outside
02:05where he fires back with a plancha, another loud Lita chant begins as Matt comes into the
02:09match only to take a big boot, and here we go, here comes Trish Stratus. Test holds Matt
02:14in place but Trish misses her target. This allows Matt to try a sneaky cover but Trish kicks out.
02:20Looks like the men don't need to tag out when a woman gets in the ring but still, Matt
02:24tags in Lita and the crowd literally get on their feet for this confrontation. Unfortunately,
02:29Trish runs away and she tags in Big Albert, so the Hardys come in to lend a hand and we
02:33see some poetry in motion. Team Extreme then deliver a triple suplex to Trish and Albert
02:38before removing their shirts, not sure if the move or the removal of clothing got a bigger
02:42pop. We then get Jeff Hardy in the ring and he gets some serious elevation from a back
02:46body drop and Tess stops a comeback attempt with a full nelson slam. Tess shows how badass
02:51he really is by applying a chin lock, a chin lock in a 6 man tag, what a guy. Jeff
02:57fights
02:57out only to take a big sit down powerbomb and Tess looks to end it with his elbow drop but
03:02Jeff dodges it. What an opener right here and fully loaded, this is really good. In comes
03:08Matt with his diving clothesline and a middle rope facebuster, he finds himself getting pinned
03:13but Jeff breaks it with a swanton bomb. Matt tags in Lita, in a game, the crowd goes nuts,
03:18and she gets a little snap on her tornado DDT which looked really good. Lita performs a crossbody
03:23from the top rope to the floor, she follows this with a diving hurricanrana to test, but
03:28that bastard Albert hits Lita from the outside and Tess performs a gut wrench powerbomb on
03:33Lita. Trish wants in, Lita's now easy pickings, she covers her opponent, Lita kicks out, so
03:39Trish performs a bulldog which surprises the commentators, looks like Trish has been putting
03:43in the work. She goes upstairs, she's met with a forearm shot, the crowd goes nuts for a Lita
03:49superplex and our match ends with a moonsault from Lita. Unfortunately, Team Extreme don't get
03:54to celebrate seeing as the heels launch a post-match attack that includes Trish whipping Lita with
03:58Albert's belt, the crowd didn't appreciate this too much, but again, what an opener from the WWF,
04:04it was everything an opening match should be, plenty of action and loads of moments to get
04:09the audience excited.
04:15Edge tells Mick Foley there's a big problem, Christian has food poisoning. Mick thinks Christian
04:20actually has fraidy cat-itis, but Edge says this is serious, he wants a doctor brought to
04:25the locker room right away, but I'm not buying it. The undertaker then arrives to the arena,
04:32he wants to know where Kurt Angle is, and oh shit. Kurt makes the smart decision of running
04:38away, but Taker gives chase. Taker has no problem driving his tricycle into small rooms just to
04:43get his hands on Angle, but Kurt's able to survive, for now. Man, I absolutely love this
04:49feud and I don't want it to end.
04:52Next, we get to see Taz vs. Al Snow. Taz has been on a rampage recently and he won't reveal
04:57exactly why he's been so unhinged as of late, he challenged the real man to beat the answers
05:02out of him at fully loaded, and instead of Pete Gass, we got Al Snow. It is good that Taz
05:08is actually getting some sort of storyline in the WWF, as paper thin as it may be, though
05:12the first half of our 5 minute match was more or less Al Snow staying in control and things
05:17are already looking a bit bleak for the human suplex machine. Snow puts Taz on the map with
05:22a super kick and he follows this up with a snow bomb. He then finds himself in a bad spot
05:26in the corner though and Taz performs an Alabama slam. A few punches to the face puts Al right
05:31back in control, and gotta say, the crowd noise has seriously died down for this match,
05:36and remarkably, even after a top rope leg drop and a moonsault from Snow, the crowd start
05:41chanting boring. I think the opener was just so good and it was always going to be a hard
05:46act to follow. The crowd cheer for head because everybody loves head, but Al doesn't get
05:51a chance to use it, instead he takes a chop block and Taz gets a bit vicious, and when
05:55Snow tries to fight back, he takes a capture suplex. Snow successfully avoids the Taz mission
06:00but Taz tries one more time, Snow struggles and he has no choice but to give up. Not a terrible
06:06match but it did suffer due to its placement on the card.
06:11We can hear the vomit spill into the toilet as Christian throws his guts up in the restroom,
06:17Foley comes in along with the doctor, and Doc confirms that Christian can't compete tonight.
06:21Mick says he owes Christian an apology, but Captain Charisma doesn't wait for Foley to
06:25say I'm sorry, he has to run off again to throw up.
06:29In Triple H's fancy dressing room, Stephanie's receiving a lot, and I mean a lot of flowers.
06:36Hunter wonders what's going on, he finds a card, and the card reads… Stephanie, best
06:41of luck to you and your man tonight. It's true, it's true, Kurt Angle, oh dear.
06:46Saturn gets a shot at Eddie Guerrero's European title next and Mamacita's in bad form tonight.
06:51Perry smacked her around a bit on Thursday night, so Chyna goes after Perry at the entranceway
06:55before also trying to get her hands on Terry. Looks like Terry's Saturn's new love interest,
07:01Perry and Terry. The former radicals begin their match with a back suplex from Eddie followed
07:05by a slingshot senton. On the outside, Chyna nails Saturn with a lariat and Perry's already
07:10looking to be in deep trouble following a top rope hurricane rana from latino heat.
07:14Back to the outside, Saturn goes and… yeah, quite the bump right there Perry. The problem
07:20here is that it's all going too well right now for Eddie and I sense he might be losing
07:24his championship tonight. Eddie performs a diving hurricane rana, Saturn finally fights
07:28back with a falling power bomb, the two trade blows in the corner, and we see a diving
07:33hurricane rana from Eddie Guerrero. Looks like Perry's got a little boo boo, and when Perry
07:37sees the blood he tries once again to get into the match. He throws Eddie across the ring,
07:42he performs a flapjack, he delivers another power bomb, and then he goes for a moonsault,
07:47a moonsault that Eddie dodges. Eddie doesn't have much luck either when coming off the top
07:51rope and Saturn just dumps Eddie on the mat moments later. The top rope moves just aren't
07:56working tonight as Perry gets drop kicked out of the ring, Chyna sees this as an opportunity
08:00to launch an attack but this turned out to be a bad move. Chyna gets taken out, Terry begins
08:05walking down the entranceway, Saturn uses Terry as a shield, and she then decides to hit a
08:10low blow on the European champion. With Chyna out cold, Eddie has no backup, and Saturn's
08:16able to take Eddie's title away after delivering a top rope elbow drop. It still feels like we
08:21haven't witnessed Perry's Saturn at his 100% best in the WWF, especially when you look
08:26at his work in WCW and even ECW, but he's now the European champion and hopefully we'll
08:32be seeing a bit more of Perry on weekly TV. As for Eddie, it was a great run for Latino
08:37Heat and the loss doesn't hurt him at all, in my opinion.
08:45Christian was lying about being ill, he and Ed say food poisoning rules as they pack their
08:50bags to leave the arena. Mick Foley catches them out when walking into the dressing room,
08:55and so the tag team title match is back on. Christian tries to fake it again, he runs to
09:00the toilet to throw up, but Mick goes to check in on him and… yeah, he was faking it.
09:05The champs take on the APA next to Foley Loaded, and Edge tells the audience that Christian is
09:10actually sick, he's sick of being in Dallas, Texas. Some cheap heat here by going after
09:15the local sports teams. Christian says everyone makes a big deal about the JFK assassination
09:21here in Dallas, but it doesn't matter. If JFK would've spent one more minute in this
09:26city, he would've offed himself anyway. Jesus Christ.
09:30We've got no 5 second pose ladies and gents. The APA walk down and Bradshaw says he's
09:35sick of these boys getting cheap heat. So sick of it that he actually gets a cheap pot by
09:39saying the Cowboys have 5 Superbowl championships. He keeps this going by saying the Dallas Stars won
09:45the Stanley Cup in this very building, he puts over the Von Erichs, the Freebirds and Bruiser
09:49Brody of world class championship wrestling, and he says the acolytes are going to make
09:53Edge and Christian their own personal bitches. The bell rings and Farouk's already putting
09:58the ring steps to good use. To be fair, the promo Bradshaw cut is seriously fired the crowd
10:02up and they love seeing the big Texan perform a full away slam followed by a big boot. Edge takes
10:08a double shoulder block, he avoids a powerbomb by taking an E but he's not so successful
10:12the second time around, though Christian stops Bradshaw from trying another powerbomb with
10:16a missile dropkick. Some underhanded tactics from the champs keeps Bradshaw away from his
10:21corner. They go for a double superplex but Bradshaw pushes them away. This gets followed
10:26up with a top rope shoulder block and Big Wrong gets a hot tag before dishing out power slams
10:31and spinebusters like they're going out of fashion. Our match ends with Christian taking
10:35a dominator while Bradshaw and Edge fight on the outside, Edge stuns his opponent long enough
10:40to grab a tag team championship belt and the champs take the easy way out by getting themselves
10:44DQ'd. This gets the boys a good amount of heat and it shows the effectiveness in booking
10:49a DQ finish when you have the right characters and circumstances surrounding it. All you have
10:54to do is compare this to a WCW DQ finish where it's just expected in almost every match.
11:00The APA beat the champions all the way back up the ramp and I thought this was a good physical
11:05bout.
11:08Hunter's giving Stephanie a hard time about the bouquet she's received and Steph's a bit fed
11:13up. She tells her husband to go and talk to Kurt if he has such a big problem, but Kurt's
11:17found himself in a bit of trouble. You see, earlier on, The Undertaker was talking about
11:22how he's gonna stuff his boot very very far up Kurt Angle's Olympic bumhole but then
11:27Taker caught Angle messing around with his motorbike. Angle just wanted to be a real biker michael
11:32like her for a little while but Taker's having none of it, so Kurt ran away when approached
11:37by the dead man. We then see him tell The Undertaker he's sorry and it was just a joke, but
11:41The
11:41Undertaker wants to hurt Angle before their match. Angle outsmarts his upcoming opponent
11:46though by attacking him from behind with a wrench, so it looks like Taker's going into
11:50his match at a disadvantage. Kurt damaged that knee pretty badly on Smackdown too, so the Olympic
11:55gold medalist has a target later on. Before that match takes place, we've got Val Venus
12:00defending his intercontinental title against Rikishi inside a steel cage, and the WWF's
12:05been making an effort to make Val a bit more serious. He said Rikishi represents everything
12:09Venus used to be, what with all his crowd pleasing clownery and what not, so Val wants to beat
12:15the big man up inside a steel cage. Trish Stratus comes out with Val, he's wearing plain black
12:20trunks tonight in an effort to show he means serious business, and after all that tough
12:24talk on Raw this past week, Venus decides he wants to leave the cage ASAP, but Big Goose
12:30won't allow it. Rikishi dominates in the early going, throwing Val from one side of the cage
12:34to another, Kish already thinks he's done enough to win the match and he goes to climb
12:38out, but Val tries to crawl out the door, causing Rikishi to climb back down and do some
12:43more damage. It's time for Venus to control the match for a little while but this doesn't
12:47last too long, a corner clothesline sets Val in position for the stink face and Venus finds
12:51the perfect counter for this move, a low blow, why hasn't anyone thought of this before?
12:57Unfortunately, Val's follow up bulldog looked like shit, though his follow up clothesline
13:01looked really good, and Val uses the top rope to add a little spring to his elbow drop.
13:06The two then have a struggle in the corner while trying to leave the cage, Venus gets busted
13:11open during this little scuffle and Rikishi gets crouched on the top rope, I'd rather get
13:15busted open if I'm honest. Venus getting colour feels like another effort from the company
13:19to try and make people take him a bit more seriously, but it's a bit hard to see past
13:23Venus' previous character because the gimmick was so out there. Rikishi's got it won after
13:28a corner hip attack and a banzai drop, he tries to leave the cage, but Trish slams the door
13:33into his head. With Rikishi stunned, Venus is able to pull off the money shot but Kish kicks
13:38out at two and the match continues. Not happy with Trish's interference, Leda runs down,
13:43holding a belt, she gets some payback for earlier on by whipping Trish across the back over and
13:47over again and this means Trish is no longer part of our match. These two fight back up
13:52the entranceway while Rikishi manages to wake up, and the referee takes a bump when Venus
13:57falls on top of him. Sorry, when Venus slightly grazes him. Ok, when Venus doesn't even touch
14:03him. We then see the spot of the match. Rikishi stands on top of the cage as the crowd goes
14:08insane. It's hard to imagine someone the size of Rikishi jumping off the top of the
14:12cage but by god King, he does it and it looked pretty damn good too. Rikishi deserves the
14:17IC title after this move but unfortunately, Taz shows up to hit the challenger with a TV
14:22camera and that's it over. Taz ruins everything, Venus wins via pinfall, and I'll admit to
14:28having low expectations going into this one but it turned out to be pretty good. Fully loaded's
14:33turning out to be a good show and we've still got the 3 main events to look forward to.
14:42There's a good shot here of the undertaker rubbing out a sign on the wall that said,
14:46this department has worked 40 days without a lost time accident. The American badass is
14:51once again going on the hunt for Kurt Angle in Soul's Triple H. He bumps into Harvey Whippleman
14:56who was just about to deliver more flowers to Stephanie, and Hunter says, tell me where he is, take
15:02me to him. Harvey brings Hunter to a door, Triple H says Kurt Angle's about to get his ass kicked,
15:07and Harvey looks a little perplexed as Triple H enters the room. After some banging, some
15:12shouting, a few moans and perhaps a little smooching, the door opens up and it was Chris Jericho
15:18sending the flowers, not Kurt Angle. Hunter's been let out, Jericho has the early advantage
15:23before the last man standing match, and back in the arena, Shane McMahon makes a surprise
15:27appearance. Shane's here to prove that he's not that vulgar word that people keep calling
15:31him, Shane is not a pussy, cat. No, he's the giant killer in the king of sting, so he's
15:37challenging Rock right now to a match inside the ring. He doesn't want a title shot because
15:42that would be unfair to Chris Benoit, he just wants to go one on one with the great one.
15:47Shane tells Rock to just bring it, Rocky's music plays in the arena, the crowd goes nuts,
15:52and Shane backs off a little when Rock grabs a microphone. Rock knows this is a setup, a pretty
15:57crappy setup at that, so the champ wants to know where Benoit is because we don't have
16:02to wait until later on, we can have that match right now. Benoit appears on the titantron,
16:07he says he's going to make Rock tap out later and he's going to strip Rock of his title.
16:11And right now, Benoit feels like stripping Rock of his GQ clothing which does sound very
16:16erotic, but Christopher doesn't want to do this face to face, he wants to rip up Rock's
16:21clothing just to piss the champion off. Benoit ruins everything, he even damages the stuff
16:27in Rock's bag, a solid $35 down the drain here and Rock isn't happy.
16:36It's time for Kurt Angle vs The Undertaker, the build up for this one's been really good,
16:41and it's consisted of Angle trying to prove he's not afraid of The Undertaker, only he
16:46is afraid of The Undertaker. He tried to apologize for costing the brothers of destruction the tag
16:50titles on Raw, he tried to give Taker a brand new sweet ride after Kurt had damaged Taker's
16:55bike, but Taker doesn't want an apology, nor a new tricycle, he wants Angle one on one.
17:01Angle's a nervous wreck during his entrance, he jumps out of his skin when his pyro goes
17:06off, and Kurt had every right to be afraid because The Undertaker shows up a little early
17:10in the fights on. Kurt fails when trying to use his giant oversized wrench, instead finding
17:16himself in the audience where he takes a beating, and when the two get back over the guardrail,
17:20the undertaker beats Kurt all around the ringside area. Tim White wants the two to get in the
17:25ring so the match can officially begin, and when they do, Angle takes a big boot followed
17:29by an elbow drop. Taker makes the cover, he breaks it moments later so he can dish out
17:33more punishment, and Taker gets a little cocky when delivering a vertical suplex. He again
17:38breaks his own cover and he says F you to Tim White, something that Jim Ross had to apologize
17:44for, and when the action resumes, Angle gets a boot up in the corner and he locks in a desperation
17:48sleeper hold. Angle needs to do something here or Taker's gonna kill him. The hole gets broken
17:54up, Taker performs a sidewalk slam, and Kurt gets sent out of the ring again which actually
17:58works out really well for him, because he's able to use that wrench and he smacks Taker
18:03right on the knee. Now Kurt can try and focus on the injured body part. This doesn't work
18:08out too well at first, a takedown attempt gets answered with a punch to the face but moments
18:13later, Taker does go down, Angle brings it to the mat where the crowd chance Angle sucks,
18:18and Taker drops his leg over Kurt's face which allows him to get back into the match.
18:22A chokeslam attempt fails when Angle once again goes for the injured body part, and Kurt applies
18:27that knee submission again which is simple but very effective. He switches it up with a
18:32step over leg lock, but the undertaker plays Kurt at his own game and he successfully counters
18:37the move. The two stand up, they share right hands, Kurt knows he can't succeed here so
18:42he goes for the knee again, but this time the undertaker stays on offense. This is where
18:47our match ends ladies and gents, Kurt takes a chokeslam, Undertaker says this isn't
18:51enough, he raises his fist for the last ride and yeah, last ride indeed. The undertaker wins
18:57via pinfall, the american badass defeats the american hero, and the good news is, this isn't
19:03the last time these two are going to meet on paperview.
19:11Chris Jericho kissed Stephanie McMahon at King of the Ring. No, let me rephrase that. Chris
19:16Jericho kissed a married woman at King of the Ring. And now, that married woman's husband
19:21wants some revenge. Totally 100% justified. Jericho caused Triple H to take a stingface on
19:27Raw, something that greatly embarrassed the game, and Triple H got payback by setting up a pretty
19:32brilliant plan that led to DAX wrecking Jericho while commissioner Mick Foley was gone on an
19:37overseas tour. Jericho then requested a last man standing match against the game, Foley
19:41granted it, so here we go. Jericho vs Triple H, it fully loaded.
19:46Chris has spoken many times about how he and Triple H didn't really get along during this
19:50time period, and Jericho always felt Hunter didn't see Chris as his equal, so having
19:54that little bit of info in the back of your head does make Y2J vs Triple H attitude era
19:59matches a bit more appealing. It's all Chris Jericho at the opening bell here, and when
20:03the two go outside, Chris uses the broken Spanish announce table to do more damage to his opponent,
20:08the table broke during Saturn's attack on China. Jericho and Steph talk a bit of smack
20:12before Y2J performs a smooth top rope back elbow, and Triple H decides to put an end to
20:17this silliness with his facebreaker knee smash. Oh yeah, Jericho's taped up due to that
20:21DX attack two weeks ago on Raw, forgot to mention that. We go outside where Jericho gets dropped
20:27on the guard rail and dropped into the ring steps, inside the ring we get that usual systematic
20:31offense from Hunter, some say it's boring but I don't mind it. Hunter targets the injured
20:37ribs with a kitchen sink, he then removes Jericho's bandages that were definitely 100%
20:42providing him with some great extra protection. The game chokes Y2J out while Stephanie terrifies
20:47kids in the front row, and the beatdown continues with a Triple H knee to Jericho's midsection.
20:52We go outside where Stephanie gets in a few sneaky slops before Jericho gets suplexed on
20:57the romp way. The ref begins his count, Jericho gets to his feet, so we head back into the
21:02ring for more punishment. Hunter applies an abdominal stretch, he says ask him to the referee
21:07but I don't think you can win this one by submission mate. Stephanie looks turned on
21:12by all this violence, she's starting to give me the creeps, and the referee gives Hunter
21:16a 5 count when he uses the ropes for leverage. I don't need to point out the issue here, and
21:21when Jericho breaks the hold, Hunter rightfully gives the referee an earful. Mike Chioda, the
21:26hard man that he is, doesn't back down. Triple H gets his knees up when Chris goes for a lion
21:31salt, that'll mess up your ribs even more buddy. The game performs a DDT but Chris gets
21:36up at 7, and JR says Jericho should've stayed down for the sake of his own career, they're
21:41making Hunter out to be a very dangerous man tonight. We get a sleeper hold and… dude,
21:47Stephanie, come on. Hunter thinks Jerry goes out for the count but he's up again, this
21:52time at 9, and Y2J invites Triple H to give him another shot, Hunter's like, not a problem.
21:57Chris won't quit, he won't stay down, he tells Hunter to suck it and so Triple H performs
22:02the pedigree, totally deserved that to be honest. The arrogant Triple H waits for the
22:0710 count, Jerry goes up again at 9, so Hunter says fuck this and he grabs a steel chair, you've
22:13gone done it now, Mr. Paragon of Virtue. A shot to the ribs and a shot to the back should
22:18do it but Hunter wants to make sure Chris is well and truly done for, he wants to pedigree
22:22him on the chair and Mike Chioda, being the concerned referee he is, tries to stop Triple
22:27H from murdering this poor lad. Hunter shoves the official away, this allows Chris to hit
22:32a low blow, and Chris follows up with a chair shot that causes Triple H to bleed all over
22:37the place. Serious play job right here folks. Jerigo sees the blood and he sees his opportunity,
22:42he goes on the attack and Hunter goes down following a jumping forearm. Chris then performs
22:46a missile drop kick as the scary look gets wiped off Stephanie's face and Jerigo uses
22:51the chair again when performing a bulldog. Chris gets cocky, he stops the referee's count
22:56so he can hurt Triple H a little more, and this was maybe a mistake seeing as Jerigo gets
23:00thrown into the ring steps when the two go outside. Chris avoids a pedigree and Hunter crawls
23:05to the announce table, he and Jerigo then have the same idea as they take each other out
23:09when using the commentary monitors as weapons. The referee begins his count and no, don't
23:16let it end like this. Both men get to their feet, thankfully, and they roll into the ring,
23:21and there it is, waltz of Jerigo. Triple H taps out and the referee's like, no submissions
23:27in this match matey. Hunter then crawls to the bottom rope and the referee's like, no rope
23:32breaks in this match either, matey. The hypocrisy of this official is off the charts, so Stephanie
23:37gets in the ring to help out her husband, but she too gets put in the walls of Jerigo.
23:42You don't turn your back on Triple H Chris, and he learns this the hard way as we go outside
23:47for the finish. Although Chris is able to take Hunter's sledgehammer away from him and
23:51the game takes a shot, Chris gets a little too confident again when he goes for a moonsault
23:56onto the announce table. Hunter wakes up, Y2J takes a low blow, Hunter performs a back suplex
24:01through the table and that's it over. Hunter manages to get to his feet at the count of
24:05nine while Jerigo stays on the floor, so Triple H wins a very physical match that I thoroughly
24:10enjoyed, actually forgot how good this one was. The back suplex through the table, something
24:15I maybe would have changed, a pedigree or something a bit more devastating, but still a fantastic
24:21match. Stephanie freaks out as she gets her husband's blood all over her hands, the severity of the
24:27match is highlighted as officials take a long time helping Triple H do his feet, and there
24:32you go, Triple H wins another one.
24:38The Rock and Chris Benoit have a tough act to follow, the WWF title's on the line here
24:43and on Smackdown, Mick Foley made a special stipulation. Because these two have been beating the crap out
24:48of each other recently, and more specifically, because Rock kicked the crap out of Benoit on
24:53Raw this past Monday, Mick announced that the championship can change hands tonight on a
24:57DQ victory. I did find it a bit strange that they made Rock look so strong on the Raw before
25:02fully loaded, but now it makes perfect sense. Rocky's actions now have potentially dire consequences.
25:08Chris Benoit comes out wearing one of Rock's ripped up shirts while Shane's wearing the
25:12Rock's sunglasses. This is Benoit's first WWF PPV main event since jumping to the company
25:17earlier in the year, he and Shane set up a trap for Rock after the people's champ makes
25:21his entrance, but it doesn't really pay off and Rock goes on offence after a failed
25:25arm trap attempt. Outside we go for a bump at the ring steps, we think Rock's gonna fall
25:30for the old kitten mouse trap, but he runs through Benoit while still chasing Shane, this gets
25:35a great crowd response. Unfortunately, Shane was out of position for the next spot and he
25:40has to awkwardly get back in the ring and under the apron, and he then falls down when Rock
25:44performs a catapult. Rock fails at locking in a crossface, Benoit rolls out of the ring
25:49for a breather. When the action resumes, we've got Benoit taking control with a gut buster,
25:54and the moment he gets the chance, Shane gets in a cheap shot. It's what he does best, ladies
25:58and gents. A kitchen sink from Benoit only gets a two. Rock drops Benoit on the top rope
26:04and he gives him a swift kick for good measure. This is followed with a back suplex from the
26:08top rope, and both men hit the mat where they lay in Triple H's dry disgusting blood. As they
26:13get to their feet, the boy wonder passes Chris the WWF title. Hebner gets distracted and Rock
26:18takes a belt shot, the champ still kicks out of two though and he stays in the match, but
26:23Benoit now has a chance as he performs a snap suplex, a back suplex, and then he locks in
26:28a sharpshooter. You don't want to find yourself in a sharpshooter when there's a McMahon standing
26:32at ringside. Rock reaches the rope so Benoit looks for another sharpshooter, he can't get
26:37it locked in, though Shane provides a low bridge and Rock tumbles out of the ring.
26:46Benoit gets thrown into the ring steps and Rock stays in the driver's seat during this
26:50brief ringside scuffle. Back inside the ring, Rock applies a figure four and Shane makes
26:54sure the referee doesn't see Chris submit, but the crippler didn't give up anyway, the
26:58spot was a bit pointless. What wasn't pointless was Shane Otake and Rock out with a clothesline
27:03when the champ gets sent back to the outside, and another clothesline sends Rock into the
27:07audience but thankfully we don't see a brawl through the crowd. We do see Benoit getting
27:11a drink thrown on him though, which was way more entertaining. A suplex brings Rock back
27:16over the guardrail and the ref tells Chris to get it back in the ring. Rock performs a
27:20DDT, Benoit performs a backbreaker, Shane McMahon chokes out the great one, and Rock takes a neckbreaker,
27:26Rock will not stay down for a three count. We then see an alley-oop hotshot from the Rock
27:31and… yeah, looked a bit rough didn't it? Still, Benoit just shakes it off and after a body slam,
27:37he says it's over. We then see the diving headbutt, this should be enough to end the match,
27:42but Benoit takes way too long going for the cover. The match starts up again, the crowd get on their
27:47feet when Rock delivers a spinebuster, we then see the people's elbow and Shane McMahon makes sure
27:52Earl Hebner's kept busy and Chris gets time to recover. Rock only gets a two count, there's a feeling
27:58now that the bell could change hands, same as we just saw the people's elbow, and we see the master
28:03plan come into play after Benoit delivers the superplex and a stiff clothesline. Chris grabs a
28:08steel chair, he gets in the ring and Hebner takes it away. While this is going on, Shane gets in
28:13the
28:14ring and he nails the referee with a chair shot and Rock takes Shane and Benoit out. Rock grabs the
28:19chair
28:20and he chases Shane out of the ring, the referee sees the chair in Rock's hand, the champ puts the
28:25challenger in his own submission hold and Hebner tells Rock to break the hold, the match is over.
28:30It's then announced that Earl Hebner's disqualified the Rock, he must have thought the Rock hit him
28:35with that chair, so Crispin was announced as the new WWF champion. The icing on the cake is Shane
28:41busting Rock open with his signature jumping chair shot, so that's it guys, we have a new WWF champion,
28:48the crowd feels totally defeated and that's the end of our show.
28:52Or is it? Mick Foley comes out and he walks right past Shane and Benoit, he grabs a microphone and
28:58he
28:58says yes, the belt can change hands tonight on a disqualification, but Mick didn't see a disqualification,
29:05nobody in the audience saw DQ, so as WWF commissioner, Mick orders that the match must continue
29:11as a bloodied up Rock tells Benoit to just bring it. The crowd love this announcement, the Wolverine marches
29:17back down looking focused and ready to kick Rocks ass again, and we restart the match with three
29:22german suplexes from Benoit. The crowd chant Rocky's name as Benoit looks for a crossface,
29:27Rock can avoid the first attempt, but he can't avoid the second. The move gets locked in and
29:31Rock has to struggle his way to the bottom rope, so Benoit releases the hold and he lays the boots
29:36in.
29:37Rock gets to his feet and Chris looks for the arm trap, but it gets countered and just like that,
29:41the Rock wins after a rock bottom. It was a real sudden ending, but I'm not complaining either.
29:47I went into this one knowing it was going to be alright, but it's another match that surpassed my
29:51expectations and that's because Rock let Benoit get a lot of stuff in here. Benoit beat the crap out
29:57of Rocky and both competitors ended up looking better for it.
30:05Guys, I think I found my favourite WWF pay per view of 2000 so far. Backlash was great and all,
30:11but the quality of matchups here along with just the right amount of backstage promos make it a
30:15very enjoyable show overall. There really isn't a bad match here and yeah, Taz vs Snow didn't exactly
30:22please the audience, but again, I think we were all spoiled by the match that went on before it.
30:28Even Rikishi vs Val Venus was good and I wasn't looking forward to that one at all. It's been so
30:33so long since I've watched this show and I'm really glad I watched it today. It comes highly
30:38recommended and do remember to watch it all from start to end. Compare this to Bash at the Beach 2000
30:43and well, it makes WCW look like an absolute uncoordinated clown show and it pains me so much
30:50to say that, but it's the truth. Brilliant pay per view right here from the WWF and I can't wait
30:55to get stuck in the raw in the next episode of reliving the war. I'll see you all on Thursday,
31:00the soldiers, thank you for watching and please take care.
