00:09Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his Japanese counterpart, Sanae Takahichi, have called for greater transparency within the Council, while backing
00:16each other's future bids for non-permanent seats.
00:19Takahichi also expressed appreciation for Malaysia's continued support of its long-standing bid for permanent membership of the UN Security
00:27Council.
00:28Malaysia and Japan have agreed to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership, expanding cooperation in security, defense and maritime affairs.
00:36This includes collaboration under Japan's official security assistance program, continued joint exercises between the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and
00:45the Royal Malaysian Navy, and closer exchanges between defense agencies.
00:49The leaders welcomed expanded military and Coast Guard cooperation, saying stronger ties would help ensure safe and free navigation in
00:56key waterways, including the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea.
