00:00Just last month, former President Donald Trump was found liable of defamation and battery against this woman, E. Jean Carroll.
00:07Trump was ordered to pay a total of $5 million for the offenses, but now he might be ordered to
00:12pay much more.
00:13Carroll had already filed another defamation case against Donald Trump, this one back in 2019.
00:18The case was brought forth after the allegations were first made, with the former commander-in-chief saying the assault
00:24never happened and that she wasn't his type.
00:26Now that case is being amended, after both a liable verdict was handed down by the courts and after Trump's
00:32own blathering.
00:33The day immediately following the New York court's verdict, the former and now campaigning to be future president appeared on
00:39a CNN town hall.
00:41During that event, he was asked about the verdict, then calling Carroll's allegations fake and calling her a whack job.
00:47The new revision would fall under the Adult Survivors Act, which did not exist at the time of the initial
00:512019 filing.
00:53Trump also asked for the U.S. Department of Justice to be substituted and named instead of himself, a move
00:58that would have effectively stopped the lawsuit in its tracks.
01:01However, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan says he will be named and the case may move forward, including with
01:06the amendments, with Carroll seeking $10 million in damages.
