Transported to Rome as slaves, a bizarre series of temple accidents leads to Hengist being mistakenly hailed as a lethal, elite fighter. Through a stroke of sheer luck, he is appointed as the personal bodyguard to the famously paranoid Julius Caesar (Kenneth Williams), who is constantly trying to dodge backstabbing assassins. The political intrigue deepens when Caesar dispatches Mark Antony to Egypt to depose the enchanting Queen Cleopatra (Amanda Barrie) and install a puppet ruler. Instead, Antony falls completely under her spell, plotting a treacherous coup against Caesar. Caught right in the middle of this imperial power struggle, the bumbling Hengist must somehow fake his way through palace revolutions, gladiator arenas, and naval battles to survive.
