00:04Now, Katie is an adaptive athlete who documents her life with a limb difference on her Instagram called Slightly Off

00:11What caught everyone's attention recently was a video that she posted of her run-in with police while driving.
00:18So I'm going to let you hear it and I'll explain what happened.
00:21So she gets pulled over and the police officer with his body cam footage shows up to the car.
00:34So at this point, she holds up her right hand because he says, you're distracted driving.
00:39You are holding a phone in your right hand.
00:41She raises her right arm on the end of which is not a hand because she is an adaptive athlete
00:48with a limb difference.
00:51And she doesn't have a right hand.
00:53Wow.
00:54Yeah.
00:59So he is continuing to argue with her.
01:05He's saying you had a hand up holding the phone.
01:08She's like, but you said it was my right hand and I don't have a right hand.
01:12I mean, that's a big difference.
01:14Like your left hand is the driver's side, the driver's window, right?
01:16Like that would be.
01:17Yeah.
01:18So they go back and forth for a while.
01:27So she goes hand to God and she lifts her right arm without a hand.
01:33So you think it would be done at this point, right?
01:37He's just going to check her.
01:39So no, he cited her.
01:40Wow.
01:40He cited her $116 for driving distracted, even though he said it was she was holding her phone in her
01:47right hand, of which she does not have.
01:50This is an amazing story.
01:52Ended up having to go to court.
01:53And they dropped the charges for insufficient evidence.
01:57Thank you, officer.
01:58I mean, just a really cringy moment here.

02:03But some good news came out of it.
02:06Dairy Queen made her a cake.

02:08With a cell phone and her arm.

02:13Obviously not holding the cell phone because it can't.
02:16And she actually has a whole website now where she sells hand to God merchandise with all of the profits
02:24benefiting Shriners Hospitals.
