00:00There were so many reviews, too,
00:02which just extended the game.
00:04Could they go to reviews more?
00:07They do love to give the close-up of the refs
00:10speaking into the mic.
00:13Some of them I also don't understand.
00:15The one where they said,
00:16I can't remember who it was,
00:17his feet didn't give him room.
00:19Was it Brunson?
00:20It was Brunson.
00:20Brunson got a flag room foul.
00:22I thought that was BS.
00:24I think it was Tim Penny.
00:25He turned his back.
00:25He landed on his calf.
00:27That was crazy.
00:28How many challenges were there?
00:30It seems like there were five or six.
00:31Well, the Knicks ran out of challenges at the end.
00:34So they used all of their challenges.
00:37And we have a series now, two games to one.
00:39Man, those people that paid huge dollars for those tickets,
00:42they're probably salty this morning.
00:44They saw a good game.
00:46It was a fun game, but they're out of dough for those tickets.
00:51Yeah, well, they'll have to come back for game four tomorrow night.
00:54That happens.
00:54You're not guaranteed to see a win,
00:56even if you pay a boatload for your tickets.
00:58It's just unfathomable that, you know,
01:02some may have paid as much as a million dollars,
01:05half a million dollars, whatever the hell it was.
01:06Right.
01:07Just to be seen, just to be there.
01:10All right.
01:10Just to be in the garden.
01:11I guess it's good for your brand.
01:13Or they just have ridiculous amounts of money,
01:16and it doesn't mean anything to them.
01:18How much does John McEnroe have?
01:19I mean, McEnroe was fired up.
01:21He's been going to games for years and years.
01:23His ugly wife was there, too, so he spent double.
01:27I didn't even notice his wife.
01:29I missed McEnroe.
01:30His wife isn't a catch.
01:32I mean, Patty Smythe or whatever.
01:33Oh, yeah.
01:35Well, she's probably also 70.
01:36She's 68 years old.
01:38You've got to give a little bit of grace.
01:40I don't think she was ever attracted.
01:43But, yeah, I mean, I think Ben Stiller,
01:45I think he was maybe there with his wife.
01:47He was with his wife, yeah.
01:48So, I mean, that's, you know,
01:49if it's a half a million ticket, that's a million bucks.
01:51I mean, whatever the hell it is.
01:52I mean, it's just unbelievable.
01:54The Law & Order woman goes to every game.
01:56Mariska Hargitay.
01:58Hargitay, I believe.
01:59Is that what it is?
02:00Yeah.
02:00Sorry.
02:00It's a hard name to pronounce.
02:01It's not easy.
02:02Yeah.
02:03Yeah.
02:03Hargitay, I think.
02:04I think that's right.
02:05I still don't think I've ever watched a complete episode of Law & Order.
02:08I know that I haven't.
02:09I've seen five or ten minutes here and there,
02:11but I know I've never committed to a full episode.
02:13Anyway, late night, because that game ended about 1130.
02:16Yeah, it's just too much.
02:18In fact, I woke up this morning and I was like,
02:20and I got to, if I went straight to sleep,
02:23I would have six hours and ten minutes of sleep.
02:25And I woke up this morning and I still felt horrible.
02:28Well, you had that long trip to Chicago.
02:30Yeah, but I rested.
02:31I mean, I did rest.
02:32That's right, because you came out back on Friday, right?
02:34Yeah, yeah.
02:35No, and plus when I was out there, I was sleeping in.
02:38You know, getting up at seven and sleeping in.
02:41That's such sleeping in.
02:42I think you're being a little hard on McEnroe's wife.
02:45I'm looking at an old picture.
02:46She was pretty attractive.
02:48Oh, I'd never have known her to be attractive.
02:50Really?
02:51Yeah.
02:51It's not bad.
02:52Okay.
02:53I'm going to show you, like, right here.
02:54Was she a singer?
02:55It's not bad.
02:56Yeah.
02:56Yeah, Patti Smythe.
02:57Is she the lead singer of Scandal?
03:00Is that the same Patti Smythe?
03:01Probably, yeah.
03:02Yeah.
03:03I think so.
03:04If you think Warrior by Scandal featuring Patti Smythe
03:07isn't one of the better songs of the 80s,
03:09we might have to have a conversation.
03:11Patti Smythe.
03:12Yeah.
03:13Whatever.
03:13Not my cup of tea.
03:14But, you know.
03:15But everyone was there.
03:17For some reason, I miss McEnroe.
03:19Was he sitting down there?
03:21They showed him, like, relatively early in the game,
03:23just, like, celebrating, like, on the way to a commercial.
03:27He was doing, like, he was doing a dance.
03:29Yeah.
03:30Something like that.
03:31Something weird.
03:33He's not a celebratory guy,
03:35so it was weird to see him kind of in that mode.
03:38Yeah.
03:38But he's been a Knicks fan forever.
03:40Somehow they got everybody in
03:41because there were scenes outside of Madison Square Garden
03:44an hour before the game
03:45where thousands of people are lined up.
03:48And it didn't look like they were in it.
03:50It reminded me of when I went to the France game
03:53here at Northwest Stadium.
03:54Yeah.
03:55And I was outside the stadium
03:56about 35 minutes before kickoff,
03:59and I got inside with about 15 minutes left
04:03in the first half.
04:04Well, it sounded like there was a...
04:04Now, I don't know if this is all around the arena,
04:06but it sounded like there was a disconnect
04:08between the Secret Service and the NYPD
04:10because they had people, like, lined up on a certain street,
04:13and then they started heading in one direction,
04:15and then they got shifted another direction.
04:18It just sounded like a big-time clusterf in New York City.
04:22Yeah, I'm sure it was.
04:23And people were putting out videos.
04:25You saw all the watch parties.
04:26There was watch parties everywhere.
04:27My daughter sent me a picture from her office,
04:30and, I mean, it was like four-plus hours before the game
04:32where we were just starting to really get packed.
04:36Yeah, full-blown circus, I'm sure.
04:39You know, people are distraught maybe in New York
04:42because you do have a series now.
04:43I mean, it's a big difference.
04:45Yeah.
04:45I saw Derek Jeter sitting next to Eli.
04:48Jeter was there.
04:49Eli was there.
04:50They came together.
04:51Larry David was there.
04:52It looks like they came together, right?
04:53Robert Kraft was there.
04:55Yeah.
04:56He doesn't look great.
04:57Well, he's 83 or 84.
05:00Yeah, he's hanging in there.
05:02And think about this.
05:03He's 83, 84 with everything in the world at his disposal.
05:07Yeah.
05:08Like, he's loaded at 83.
05:11Well, the former mayor, Bloomberg, was also in the front row.
05:13He didn't look great.
05:14He got pummeled.
05:15He got pummeled.
05:16He got pummeled.
05:17He got pummeled.
05:18He got pummeled.
05:18That's not good.
05:19Everybody's like, you okay?
05:20He's 84.
05:21I know.
05:22You're going to tend to somebody when an NBA
05:24or crashes into an 84-year-old in the front row.
05:27I mean, it's kind of scary.
05:29Yeah.
05:30That could take you out.
05:32Yeah.
05:32I mean, it definitely can.
05:34Who ran in it?
05:35Hart?
05:35Did Hart run into him?
05:36I can't remember who it was.
05:38I thought it was Brunson.
05:39But I could be wrong.
05:41I mean, if Big Cat crashes into Michael Bloomberg,
05:44it might be over.
05:45I mean, it just might be over.
05:46Oh, yeah.
05:47You're talking about the Secret Service.
05:48I assume this was a real picture.
05:50Yeah.
05:50Did you see them wanding Wemby?
05:52I did not.
05:54All the players like Wemby.
05:56They had multiple layers of security.
05:58He had his shorts on.
05:59He's got a low top.
06:00I don't know if he wears Nikes.
06:02And he's getting wanded.
06:04I don't think that a guy who's 7'4 would be like,
06:07hey, dude, I'm playing.
06:09Everybody's got to go through the protocol.
06:11Everybody's got to get screened.
06:13Yeah.
06:13Even the players.
06:15Probably the coaches, too.
06:17Well, it'll be a poop show.
06:18Well, maybe not with the Secret Service on Wednesday.
06:21But everyone will be out there again at the Garden tomorrow night.
06:26But I watched a little bit last night.
06:29But woke up at 3.20 and watched the rest of the game.
06:33That's too early for me to wake up, man.
06:35Did you fast-forward through the game?
06:36Is that what you do?
06:36Fast-forward.
06:37Didn't care about Shaq and Barkley and what they had to say.
06:40Fast-forward through all that.
06:41They are so annoying.
06:42I got it.
06:43They're just unbelievably annoying.
06:45See, I love him.
06:47Oh, I hate him.
06:48I like him individually.
06:50I like Shaq.
06:51I like Barkley.
06:52There's too much.
06:53They're challenging each other in your house.
06:56Then they jam Draymond Green on the saddle.
06:58Couldn't even spit him all the shots.
07:00He was trying to get in there.
07:01That is a small-ass cassette.
07:02I thought it was horrible.
07:04It was funny when they were making their Cardi B jokes.
07:08Cardi Ds.
07:09I also have no use for pregame and or halftime.
07:13In general.
07:15I'm just going to do something else to fill up my time.
07:17I think the game starts again.
07:19I think you guys in the minority, man.
07:21They're pretty much a likable crew.
07:24I pushed Draymond Green to the side.
07:27I like Barkley individually.
07:28They brought him in to eventually be a replacement for whoever steps down from the show, assuming
07:33it was going to be Barkley.
07:34Remember Barkley used to say, I'm only going to do it for one more year.
07:37Then he just keeps renewing.
07:39I like Barkley individually.
07:40I like Shaq individually.
07:41I think Shaq's hilarious.
07:42I think Barkley's hilarious.
07:44It's just too much one-upsmanship.
07:46They get pissed at each other.
07:48It just gets out of control.
07:50It just gets out of control.
07:51Then Shaq threatens to pummel everybody.
07:54It's just dumb.
07:56I didn't watch that part because I fast-forwarded through it.
07:59You didn't miss it.
08:00I know I didn't.
08:01You're good.
08:02Didn't Barkley say at halftime the series is over?
08:05He's been saying that.
08:06It's a weird bit he's doing too.
08:07I don't know why he's doing that.
08:08I'm watching it.
08:09The Knicks made their run in the second quarter.
08:11They go to halftime.
08:12He goes, it's over.
08:13The series is over.
08:14Don't even compete anymore.
08:16Don't even play.
08:17It's like a five-point game.
08:19Portnoy's doing that too, like a weird bit.
08:22Portnoy, I get it.
08:23Barkley's an analyst during the game.
08:25I'm leaning on you for expertise here.
08:27You can't lean on him.
08:28The series has been very evenly matched.
08:31You're telling me it's over at halftime of game three.
08:32No, you can't.
08:33He sounds like a buffoon when he says that.
08:35Yeah.
08:37My guy, my all-time favorite player, Charles Barkley.
08:41Daggers to the heart right now.
08:42Love the round, mound, and rebound.
08:44He does his guaranteed bit.
08:46You know, that's been a running bit for a few years.
08:49Well, maybe that's what he's doing.
08:50Guaranteed.
08:51Well, I don't know.
08:52And oftentimes it blows up in his face.
08:54Sure.
08:54So he's leaning in.
08:56Maybe that's what he's doing.
08:57But he does sound stupid when he says that.
08:59He's doubling down on his bit.
09:00I mean, yeah.
09:00And hey, usually a team that's up 2-0 and has, you know, not a huge lead, but a pretty
09:07solid lead heading into the second half at home, usually they win.
09:12Spurs played really, really well in the second half.
09:14Regardless of how the game three plays out, they're 85% to win the series.
09:17Yeah.
09:17Like traditionally.
09:18Yeah.
09:18Yeah.
09:19First time, I think since 1993, that the first three road teams had won the NBA Finals.
09:24Yeah.
09:24So props to the Spurs.
09:26First three.
09:26Wemby delivered.
09:29And Stefan Castle delivered.
09:30Castle was big.
09:31Two young guys.
09:32He was really good.
09:33I mean, Wemby ends up with, what, 32?
09:3632.
09:3632.
09:3732, 8, and 6.
09:38Yep.
09:39And shot 11 for 18 from the field.
09:41And two for four from threes.
09:42We said he had to come back big, and he did.
09:45No doubt.
09:46All right.
09:46Coming up on a Tuesday show, we've got Mike DiCorsi joining us at 825.
09:51College sports journalist.
09:53We're going to talk about the Brendan Soresby ruling with him coming up at 825.
09:58And Sebastian Salazar, soccer broadcaster and analyst, he's going to talk World Cup with
10:04us in studio because the World Cup kicks off in just two days.
10:09The U.S. plays Paraguay on Friday.
10:12So Sebastian Salazar will join us in studio.
10:15Get us up to speed on the World Cup.
10:17That's all coming up on a Tuesday here on The Junks.
10:20We'll see you next time.
