00:00So Saturday night was great drama on TV
00:03as there was Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals
00:07between the Spurs and the OKC Thunder.
00:11They played a ton in the regular season.
00:14San Antonio had their number,
00:15and then there was Game 7 to look forward to.
00:18I got to say, personally, I was really looking forward to it,
00:21but a couple hours before the game,
00:24found out that we had a pinhole leak
00:27in a pipe downstairs in the basement.
00:30And who knows how long it's been leaking.
00:33I don't go to the basement all the time,
00:35and we noticed that there was kind of a dank smell down there.
00:39Not good.
00:40Not great.
00:41And you couldn't see anything in the actual basement.
00:47Check the guest room down there.
00:49No leak.
00:51There's a little gym.
00:52No leak.
00:53But we have a crawl space.
00:54And I just assumed it was in the crawl space part,
00:57but there's a little section where I had a bunch of storage bins and boxes.
01:04And you couldn't even see the leak because I guess it was landing on that.
01:08And eventually I moved it all.
01:10And it's a pretty good leak.
01:12And then I had my guy Christian come.
01:14My wife could hear this hiss.
01:16And we did.
01:17You know, he had to take out drywall.
01:19Found where the leak is.
01:20Tiny little pinhole leak.
01:22But you got to replace it.
01:23I mean, just welcome to being a homeowner.
01:26Hundreds of dollars.
01:28Thousands of dollars damage.
01:29Do they patch the...
01:31I don't even know.
01:31Do they...
01:31Eventually.
01:32You got to leave it open.
01:33Do they repair that section of the pipe?
01:35Yeah.
01:36Replace the pipe.
01:36Yeah, yeah.
01:37That's terrible.
01:38Then the drywall has to be redone.
01:40That sounds like a debacle.
01:41Yeah.
01:42So I was actually...
01:44That ruined your enthusiasm for the game?
01:46No.
01:46What I did is I went down to the basement.
01:48I went down to the basement.
01:50I had to move.
01:50Because we kind of figured it out late on Saturday.
01:54And so the game started at 8 o'clock.
01:57So I was down probably in the basement at 7.
02:00Moving all the stuff.
02:01But you also got to be careful about moving.
02:03Because it's all wet.
02:04And I took trips to...
02:06I'll be honest.
02:08There's an apartment complex about a half a mile from where I live.
02:12And they have dumpsters.
02:13You know, theoretically, you should take it to the dump.
02:16Sure.
02:17Because I'm not a member of that apartment complex.
02:19I don't live in that apartment complex.
02:21They can definitely find you...
02:22They've got signs that say it's for just the apartment complex.
02:25But I'm sorry.
02:26It's actually on my street.
02:28You rolled the dice.
02:29It's on my street.
02:30I don't live in the apartment complex on my street.
02:32I mean, you're...
02:33So the damage...
02:35You're pushing the boundaries.
02:36The stuff that was damaged, which...
02:39There's a couple of boxes.
02:40I'm going to guess if a cop came up and caught you and said,
02:43Do you live in this apartment complex?
02:45And you said, I live on the same street.
02:46He'd say, here's your citation.
02:49You're correct, Case.
02:50You're correct.
02:52But I've done it.
02:54So I was making trips.
02:56But then I go to watch the game.
02:57And I did find myself rooting for the Spurs.
02:59I don't know who I'm going to root for, Spurs or the Knicks.
03:02I think most of the country.
03:04I've seen maps.
03:05I don't know if they were real or not because of the OKC flopping and stuff.
03:08I don't know who I'm going to root for.
03:09It said...
03:09I mean, I saw one thing which had 49 out of the 50 states rooting for the Spurs.
03:15But it's Wemby's third year.
03:17And he is now kind of taking over the league.
03:21And Shea had a good game on Saturday night.
03:24Wemby didn't put up, like, monster stats.
03:26I think he finished with 23 points.
03:28But if you look at plus-minus, if you believe in plus-minus, he led the entire series in plus
03:37-minus by a lot.
03:39When he's on the court, he's just such an influence on defense.
03:44And he broke Chet Holmgren.
03:46Yeah.
03:47He broke him.
03:48I mean, he had a dunk early in the game.
03:49It looked like Nerf hoop because both those guys are ridiculously tall.
03:53They're skinny.
03:54He has the dunk on Chet.
03:56And Chet in Game 7.
04:00SGA didn't have Jalen Williams, who's been an All-Star.
04:03But he's got Chet Holmgren, who made the All-Star team this year.
04:06And Chet gave him 4-4 in a Game 7.
04:09Four points and four rebounds.
04:12He didn't want to challenge him.
04:13You know, he just kind of deferred a lot.
04:15It was a little weird.
04:17And a couple of key kind of turnovers.
04:19I don't know.
04:20It was kind of weird.
04:20I expected more from Holmgren.
04:24I thought it was a riveting game.
04:25All I could think about was Jason basically guaranteeing the Thunder win.
04:30Which probably is one of the reasons why I root for the Spurs.
04:34I should have listened to Valdez.
04:35He said it the other day.
04:37He said, I don't care if Jason's on a hot streak on the show.
04:41If he makes a bold prediction on the show, he will lose it.
04:45Yeah.
04:46And he said, we should have bet the whole account on it.
04:48It always turns into a giant fireball if Jason's very resolute.
04:52If he says a team, it's impossible for them to win, do the exact opposite.
04:57If he writes off a team, do whatever you can to try and bet that team or back that team.
05:03Hey, and you know what?
05:03Props to the guy.
05:05I think it was on DraftKings.
05:07I'm not 100% sure who hit his four-leg par leg for $1.7 million on a $2,500
05:15bet.
05:16What did he have in it?
05:17Well, he had the Knicks winning the East.
05:19He had the Spurs winning the West.
05:20He had Michigan winning the National Group's title.
05:23And I can't remember the fourth leg.
05:25But he could have hedged.
05:27He could have cashed out early for $650K, I believe.
05:30He let it ride.
05:31Let it ride.
05:31Won $1.7 million.
05:33Legend.
05:34That guy's a legend.
05:35I thought OKC was going to win Game 7 just because it's home.
05:38Yeah.
05:38I mean, generally speaking, home teams win Game 7.
05:42But the Spurs had OKC's number throughout the season.
05:49And props to them, man.
05:50And they are young.
05:52I mean, besides Wemby, Stephon Castle, young.
05:55Dylan Harper's first year.
05:58Dylan Harper's a stud.
05:59I'll say this.
06:01I don't love the style of basketball that we're at today in 2026.
06:05But in the playoffs, it does get ramped up.
06:07And they shot the ball really well that game.
06:12There were critical moments.
06:13There were teams that were just trading threes.
06:16And it was really, really fun to watch.
06:18Now they have to take on the Knicks, who've won 11 straight.
06:21And it's been blowing people out.
06:23Yeah, I don't know who to root for there.
06:25Part of me thinks the Knicks, maybe.
06:27I really don't like the Spurs.
06:29Really not.
06:30I don't really like either team.
06:32But I'm going to root for the Spurs.
06:34I mean, if Wemby wins a championship already,
06:38I mean, you never know what's going to happen.
06:41Like, Giannis has won one.
06:44Joker's won one.
06:46And you kind of feel like those guys would win more.
06:49And I think this is the eighth or ninth straight year
06:51where you're going to have a different NBA champion.
06:54But you would kind of think, man, Wemby's going to win five, six, seven.
06:58He's just such an impactful player on the court.
07:02And the crazy thing is, he doesn't really have a go-to move.
07:07He knocks down threes.
07:08So he shot 40% from threes in the series.
07:10In the series, he was the MVP.
07:13He averaged 27 points.
07:1511 rebounds, three assists, basically three blocks.
07:19I mean, really good all-around numbers.
07:22But any time SGA or anybody else drove into the lane,
07:28they're aware of where Wemby is.
07:31Of course.
07:32And they're throwing it out.
07:33You're going to be terrified.
07:33I mean, he just completely alters the game.
07:36No doubt about it.
07:37And you've seen other tall guys, but it's that he can move so well.
07:41I mean, he challenges threes when he's in the lane.
07:46Oh, yeah.
07:47I mean, I've seen him.
07:48He challenged one three.
07:49He was basically top of the key.
07:51The other guy was in a corner, and he just leapt.
07:53And it was a – you know, the guy was shook.
07:55Yeah.
07:55Because you could feel the guy – you could feel Wemby in his length leaping towards you,
08:00and he totally missed it.
08:02Kind of a critical junction there.
08:03I think it was in the fourth quarter.
08:05However, yeah, no, his presence is felt.
08:08He's super athletic.
08:10He's incredible to watch.
08:11We need Sarr to turn into like a mini Wemby defensively.
08:14I know he's not 7'4", 7'5".
08:16I don't think he's that athletic.
08:18He's probably not.
08:19I know I'm grasping.
08:20Yeah.
08:21What I don't know about Sarr, and I have no reason to believe that he's not like this,
08:24Wemby is super driven.
08:26I mean, after the game, he's so emotional,
08:29but he said he feels like this is the purpose of his life.
08:33Yeah.
08:33Probably is.
08:35Probably is.
08:37I guess if you're born 7'6", are you going to be 7'6"?
08:41You saw the picture with his parents, right?
08:42The mom's 6'6".
08:43Yeah.
08:44If you're 7'5", and you're as athletic as he is,
08:46your mission in life is to be a great basketball player.
08:49Kind of.
08:50You really can't –
08:51There's nothing else that you should be doing.
08:53He's fulfilling his destiny.
08:54That's what you should be doing.
08:55He's fulfilling his destiny.
08:56You think he's going to become a physicist?
08:58Or, you know, like –
08:59You think he's –
09:00I mean, maybe he'll become a doctor after he's done playing hoops.
09:03Who knows?
09:03But if you're in the prime of your life, Wemby should be a hooper, obviously.
09:10And he is.
09:11I think he's mostly liked.
09:14Do you think a couple years from now he could turn villainous?
09:19He's doing a couple things here and there.
09:21I don't know if you've been paying attention.
09:22So, at the end of game five, I believe it was, they're losing.
09:28He comes out of the game, and he whispered in the ear of Biombo and Cornette, I believe.
09:34Hard fouls.
09:35He pulled Lou Dort's hair at one point.
09:38I can't remember which game that was.
09:40That kind of flew under the radar.
09:43I wonder.
09:44Like, he's likable now, but I could see – people turn on people.
09:50I could see fan bases turning on him.
09:52To me, he's borderline.
09:53To me, he's –
09:54He's also – like, it's great to be mission-focused, but then it borders on arrogance.
10:00And if he gets to that arrogant part where, you know, when SGA won the MVP, he's kind
10:07of sulking there watching it, and some people praise that, but it could go the other way.
10:13I don't know.
10:14I'm neutral on him.
10:15Yeah, I might root Knicks.
10:16I might root Knicks now that I think about it.
10:18And I was just rooting Spurs.
10:20Yeah, I don't know.
10:21But I don't really care.
10:22I mean –
10:23That's the other part.
10:24We need to get a local team in.
10:25Like, we need to get the Wizards, hopefully this number one pick, turns it around.
10:29I'm not saying they're going to be in the NBA championship, but a path to an NBA championship.
10:34That'd be nice.
10:35I wouldn't get too worked up about it.
10:38But, yeah.
10:38It is crazy, though, how long these playoffs go in both the NHL and NBA.
10:43I mean, the Spurs have played –
10:45The Stanley Cup final starts on Tuesday.
10:47The Spurs have played 17 playoff games already.
10:51Yeah.
10:52If this goes seven, they're playing 24 games in just the playoffs.
10:57Who's favored by Vegas?
10:59I believe the Spurs.
11:01The Spurs.
11:01I haven't even checked, but Spurs had a much better record in the regular season.
11:05The Western Conference was believed to be the better conference.
11:08I know when I was –
11:09The Knicks weren't even the one seed.
11:10Remember, the Knicks were the three?
11:13Were they the three or the four?
11:16Spurs are minus 205.
11:18Knicks plus 172.
11:20Yeah, that's what I'm seeing.
11:22Yeah.
11:24It's wild.
11:25The three NBA guys I watched in the last week or so, the different shows – or actually, one was
11:32on one show.
11:33They all picked the Knicks, whoever came out of the West.
11:37Well, the Knicks are playing hot, and the thought is that the Spurs don't have the experience.
11:42But that was the thought going into game seven against OKC.
11:45They're playing the defending champs on their court, a really powerful team with the two-time MVP in SGA.
11:54And SGA played well, man.
11:55The shot-making that he had in that game seven – because there were a couple times he had to
12:00shake, create space over Wemby, and was hitting rainbow shots.
12:04Yeah, but he was even saying he didn't think he played his best.
12:07Well, he didn't play well in the series.
12:08If you look at his shooting percentage, he typically shoots 55% from the field.
12:15I can look it up, but I think he was in the 40s in this series.
12:21Real quick, let's go to Rick.
12:23He kind of wants to touch in on our softball discussion we had in the previous break.
12:30Rick, what's up, buddy?
12:32You're on with the Junkies.
12:33What's up, Rick?
12:35Hey, good morning, Junkies.
12:36How are you, man?
12:38Good.
12:39Long-time listener.
12:40Appreciate you guys.
12:41Thanks, man.
12:41Appreciate you.
12:42What's up?
12:44Hey, so I just want to give you a back story.
12:46So the two pitchers that you watched last night for Texas Tech, first of all, Najeear Kennedy, she signed a
12:53$1 million NIL deal to transfer to Stanford as the number one pitcher.
12:59Yeah.
13:00And then also, Kaylin Terry, she transferred from UCLA to Texas Tech and then pitched against them last night.
13:08Yeah.
13:09So Texas Tech, apparently, they got the new manager, coach, whatever they call him in college.
13:14He completely redid the roster.
13:16I think from when he took over, there was one girl still on the roster, and he went all in
13:20on NIL.
13:21I mean, how about Texas Tech having that kind of dough to load up on softball girls?
13:28They've got deep NIL pockets.
13:30I mean, my God.
13:31Props to them.
13:32That's amazing.
13:33That's why their football team's so good all of a sudden, too.
13:35Yeah.
13:35They've got that oil money coming in.
13:37That's awesome.
13:38Yeah, they got the bag to pay.
13:39Yeah, that's very cool.
13:41No, I just was amazed by the whole thing, the fact that these girls just keep throwing, the fact that
13:46you could take them out and bring them back in,
13:48the fact that they're pitched game after game after game.
13:51It's unbelievable to me.
13:54Yeah, there's no substitute restrictions on going in and going out as a pitcher to a positional player.
14:01Right, right, right, right.
14:02No, it was fascinating.
14:03I'm all in.
14:04I'm rooting for Texas Tech.
14:05I assume they'll lose to Alabama, but I think they're one of the highest run-scoring teams in the country.
14:13So, maybe they got a shot.
14:14Yep.
14:15All right, thank you, Rick.
14:16Appreciate it, buddy.
14:17I tell you, my youngest, both my daughters played softball.
14:20Well, my youngest was pretty good at it, but I think I've said this before on the show.
14:25You know, kind of in a critical time, you know, the way we raise our kids is you try all
14:29the sports and you settle on a couple that you like and whatever.
14:32And she was good at softball, but I looked around and go, you're not built like any of these other
14:36girls.
14:36These other girls got big butts, big legs.
14:39You're just not built like that.
14:41And I don't know.
14:42I don't see that.
14:42I don't know.
14:43You don't see a pathway.
14:44I mean, I know.
14:44I guess they have these slap hitters.
14:46I didn't see any last night.
14:48But I guess, you know, they get these girls, they go up there, they bat lefty.
14:50And they just slap it and then they just take off.
14:53But I don't know.
14:55Also, there's only so much time.
14:56Like, I'd like my daughter probably to play lacrosse.
14:58Like, she'd be good at it.
14:59Sure.
15:00But she's got swims.
15:01She's got soccer.
15:02She slides in.
15:02Yeah, you've got to pick a couple.
15:03Slides in track.
15:04Slides in basketball.
15:05Slides in certain seasons.
15:06I'm telling you why I quit softball.
15:08If it wasn't for that, if I looked around and I saw a bunch of girls look like my girl,
15:12then maybe we'd have still been playing.
15:13They didn't look like her.
15:14By the way, SGA in the series, back to the OKC Spurs Western Conference Final Series, he averaged 25.9,
15:24which is solid, right?
15:25But he only shot 40%, and he shot 55% from the field in the regular season.
15:31So that'll tell you about the Spurs' defense.
15:33Wemby, obviously the biggest factor.
15:35But, man, Stephon Castle is a dog.
15:38And I like Alex Saar, but the way Stephon Castle has been playing in the playoffs, I'm looking at that
15:43traffic like, maybe they should have gone with Castle.
15:46He's got a new man crush.
15:48Yeah.
15:48He's just adding to his collection.
15:50Have you watched Stephon Castle?
15:51He is good.
15:52A little bit.
15:52Not as much too clearly, but a little bit.
15:54They were never going to take him.
15:55He was never in a discussion.
15:56He couldn't end up being a Hall of Famer way better, but they just were never going to take him.
16:00I mean, Saar's good.
16:01And they're different players, different positions.
16:03But, man, Stephon Castle, that team, here's the thing, if the Spurs win it this year, and you probably would
16:11have said this about OKC last year, but they're so young.
16:15Dylan Harper's going to get better.
16:16They've got Castle.
16:17They've got Wemby.
16:19Just those three guys, I think they're all under 23.
16:25Luckily, they're in the West.
16:26You don't need to deal with them.
16:27You know what, EB?
16:28If you're the Wizards.
16:29I'm going to kind of root for the Knicks.
16:32I'm going to root for the Knicks.
16:33I'll probably root for the Knicks.
16:35I don't find the Spurs that super appealing.
16:39I just rooted for them because Jason said they couldn't win.
16:43That made him a huge underdog in my brain.
16:45Yeah.
16:46He said they couldn't win.
16:47He said they wouldn't win a Game 7.
16:50He goes with the conventional wisdom every time.
16:53He likes home teams.
16:54I get it.
16:55I kind of thought so, too.
16:56He very much favors home teams.
16:57By the way, since 2021, it looks like home teams in Game 7s are only 9 and 12.
17:04Yeah, so they're under 500 even.
17:06Yeah.
17:06Yeah, I know.
17:07He has a bias towards home teams.
17:08I've always thought when there's these neutral games, he always just goes home team.
17:12And, you know, he's a gambler.
17:14He knows more than me gambling-wise.
17:16But it just made them an underdog.
17:17And so I rooted for him.
17:18I'm going to guess he lost that bet.
17:20If he was that convinced that he was on that side.
