00:00Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Yumara Zulam may have given a clearer picture and addressed some fundamental issues in the
00:07press release issued by the Nigerian Army on Saturday that caused mixed reactions among members of the public, especially Borno
00:15youths under the umbrella body of Borno South Youth Alliance,
00:19Bosia who had condemned the military for saying in the press release that its men rescued 360 out of the
00:26416 women and children held hostage by the Boko Haram terrorists based on intelligence-driven efforts that made the terrorists
00:36to flee and abandoned their victims upon citing the superior power of the men of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,
00:44AFN, with some of the terrorists arrested,
00:47but, the State Governor, Babagana Zulam while speaking during his assessment visit to Pulka community on Monday, said, 434 victims
00:56out of the total numbers of people kidnapped early this year in Ingosh community by the Boko Haram terrorists have
01:03regained freedom, specifically stating that, 357 captives walked free in the latest coordinated effort,
01:11other captives had been released in phases over the preceding months, bringing the total number of freed captives to 434,
01:19this, we have reported that youths in Borno State under the umbrella body of Borno South Youth Alliance,
01:26Bosia has insisted that the federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tanubu did nothing to
01:34secure the release of the 416 women and children held hostage by Boko Haram terrorists,
01:41for more than 90 days they were taken into the bush since March 2026, also, the youth group dismissed and
01:48rejected the report of the Nigerian Army who had alleged that its men rescued 360 out of the 416 people
01:57held hostage through intelligent-driven efforts,
02:00saying, they have an audio record of the conversation they had with the Boko Haram terrorists on Friday, June 5,
02:082026 before the Boko Haram terrorists decided to release the captives willingly,
02:13adding, if they paid ransom, they should come out and tell Nigerians, which we have the full details if ransoms
02:20was paid or not.
02:21As Senator Ali Ndume automatically started thanking President Bola Ahmed Tanubu, is there something Nigerians need to know that is
02:30hidden?
02:30It may be recalled that we have reported that barely a day after President Donald Trump of the United States
02:37of America,
02:38the USA announced the killing of Abu Bilal al-Minuki, the second in command of the Islamic State in Iraq
02:44and Syria,
02:45ISIS in a joint operation with Nigeria soldiers in Borno State.
02:50A new video of the abducted 416 women and children in Boko Haram captivity has been released in addition to
02:58a gory video earlier released by the terrorists
03:01wherein they beheaded almost six men who the insurgents said tried to escape among the kidnapped victims.
03:07This had led to public outcry and demonstrations, but according to Punch newspaper, protesters are reportedly denied the rights to
03:15protest in Mediguri,
03:17the Borno State capital, saying, the army reportedly deployed tanks and heavily armed personnel to filling Polo,
03:24the venue of the recent planned protest, forcing the demonstrators to withdraw, quoting Samayla Kaigama, leader of the protesters, as
03:32saying,
03:33The atmosphere created by the military deployment made it impossible for citizens to continue with the demonstration
03:40that the development is deeply disturbing in a constitutional democracy.
03:44It may also be recalled that we have reported that President Bola Ahmed Tanubu of Nigeria may have kept nudes
03:51since more than 48 hours.
03:53A faction of the Boko Haram terrorists showed off 416 people, mostly women and children,
03:59kidnapped and held hostage when the members of the Jumatu Ali Suna Lidawati Wal Jihad,
04:05JAS, launched a large-scale combat actions between 4th to the 6th of March 2026 against the men of the
04:13Armed Forces of Nigeria, AFN, overran the Africa country military base at Ingosh, killing several soldiers,
04:22a figure the Nigeria Authority disputed to be 14 after several reports indicated that more than 40 soldiers,
04:29were killed during the attack, in addition to more than 100 civilians including Chief Iman of Ingosh
04:36alongside the community elders killed during the coordinated attacks that lasted days of Ingosh community in Guoza local government area
04:44of Borno state.
04:46This, during the attacks, numbers of people were also taken hostage by the insurgents,
04:51with speculations indicating that the hostages are apparently being held at the rugged terrain of the Mandara Mountains,
04:58which sit wide across the Nigeria border with Cameroon.
05:02In the released video, one of the spokespersons of the Boko Haram group said they decided to release a proof
05:08-of-life video of the 416 women and children in their captivity,
05:13following the demands made across to them by the Borno South Youths Alliance, BOSYA.
05:19And according to the statement issued by the BOSYA when they made the video public on Friday, April 10, 2026,
05:27the youths group called on federal government and governments at all level to ensure the hostages are released,
05:33saying specifically that, we have witnessed cases in states such as Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina,
05:40and Kedi where abducted victims regained freedom following interventions by individuals such as Sheikh Ahmed Gumi,
05:47we therefore expect equal urgency and commitment in addressing the plight of the Ingosh victims.
05:53No region or group of citizens should be treated with less priority.
05:57Dada Aliya, the spokesperson and media adviser to the Borno State Governor,
06:02in a news release he issued and made available some hours ago, said the,
06:07Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Yumara Zulam,
06:11has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tanubu for his role in securing the freedom of 434 residents of Ingosh community,
06:19who were abducted over a year ago during a violent raid on the town.
06:23Speaking in Pulka on Monday, Governor Zulam confirmed that the latest release comprises 357 persons,
06:31while approximately 82 others had regained their freedom spontaneously in smaller batches over the period since their abduction.
06:38The victims were originally taken from Ingosh, a border town in Guosa local government area of Borno State,
06:45following an attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents early this year.
06:50Zulam particularly praised President Tanubu for his personal intervention and commitment towards restoring peace,
06:57which he said accelerated the negotiation and rescue process.
07:00I want to express my deepest appreciation, on behalf of the government and people of Borno State and Guosa community
07:08in particular,
07:09to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tanubu,
07:15for all the efforts that he has been making in ensuring the return of peace and stability not only to
07:20Borno State but to the entire country, Zulam stated.
07:24Zulam also extended commendations to the Nigerian military, the Department of State Services, DSS, and all other security agencies involved
07:34in the operation,
07:35acknowledging their professionalism and coordination.
07:38I also want to use this opportunity to commend the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Office of the National Security Advisor,
07:46the Department of State Security and all other security agencies, including our gallant civilian JTF, forest guards, vigilante and hunters,
07:55who have participated immensely in ensuring the release of these abducted men, women and children, Zulam added.
08:02He explained that while 357 captives walked free in the latest coordinated effort, other captives had been released in phases
08:11over the preceding months,
08:13bringing the total number of freed captives to 434.
08:17We are here to felicitate with Ingosh community following, the release of the abducted women and children numbering about 434.
08:26What we saw this morning is about 360 released two days ago.
08:31But some two to three weeks ago, we also received about other persons, totaling about 434, Zulam explained.
08:41According to the governor, government has released millions of Naira to rehabilitate the Ingosh community.
08:47So far, the work is nearly complete.
08:50We are also interfacing with the community about their return to Ingosh.
08:54Those that are willing to return, we are working with the Nigerian military to establish institutional arrangements that will ensure
09:01their safe and dignified return.
09:04Zulam also directed the distribution of relief materials, comprising food and non-food items, to all the released persons as
09:12part of the immediate intervention.
09:13The rescued individuals are currently receiving medical and psychological support in a government facility, after which they will be reintegrated
09:22into their communities.
09:24It would be recalled that the Nigerian army in a press statement titled,
09:28Operation Haddon Kai executes unprecedented intelligence-led rescue operation,
09:33freeze 360 abductees from jazz stronghold in the Mandara Mountains,
09:38had stated that, in one of the most significant hostage rescue operations conducted in the Northeast Theater in recent times,
09:46Troops of the Joint Task Force, Northeast, Operation Haddon Kai, OPHK, comprising Special Forces and Troops of Sector 1,
09:56have successfully rescued 360 abductees from a heavily fortified Jumatu Ali's Sana Lidawati wall jihad, jazz,
10:04enclave deep within the Mandara Mountains area of southern Borno State.
10:09The operation, which was the culmination of weeks of painstaking intelligence preparation,
10:14covert reconnaissance, and operational planning, resulted in the safe recovery of men, women,
10:21and children who had been held in captivity under harsh conditions after being abducted from several communities,
10:27particularly within the Ingosh Axis.
10:30The successful rescue underscores the growing operational reach, intelligence dominance,
10:36and tactical superiority of OPHK in denying terrorists freedom of action
10:40and protecting vulnerable populations across the theater.
10:44The operation was initiated following the receipt of credible and corroborated intelligence from multiple sources
10:50indicating the precise location of the hostages and the existence of an elaborate insurgent support network sustaining the enclave.
10:58OPHK intelligence elements subsequently launched an extensive target development process involving the integration of human intelligence,
11:07HUMANT, Signals Intelligence, SIGINT, and Persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, ISR,
11:15operations conducted through unmanned aerial systems and long-range reconnaissance patrols.
11:20Through sustained intelligence collection and analysis, commanders developed a comprehensive understanding of the terrain,
11:28insurgent disposition, defensive arrangements, movement patterns, and the condition of the abductees.
11:34This intelligence-driven approach enabled the force to accurately map the objective area,
11:40identify vulnerabilities within the terrorist network, and significantly reduce risks to the hostages during the rescue mission.
11:47A decisive breakthrough was achieved through the successful penetration of the terrorist network by carefully cultivated intelligence assets
11:55operating under the supervision of OPHK military intelligence personnel.
12:00These assets provided timely and actionable intelligence regarding the exact locations of the abductees,
12:07the disposition of insurgent commanders, internal security measures, and planned relocation routes.
12:13Simultaneously, carefully coordinated information and psychological operations created uncertainty and mistrust within the insurgent ranks,
12:23degrading their cohesion and disrupting command and control arrangements.
12:28The resulting intelligence advantage provided OPHK with unprecedented situational awareness
12:33and enabled commanders to shape the operational environment well before the commencement of the assault phase.
12:39Acting on confirmed intelligence, OPHK Special Forces and troops of Sector 1 launched a meticulously coordinated multi-axis operation designed
12:50to isolate the objective area,
12:52dominate key terrain, and prevent insurgent reinforcement or withdrawal.
12:56Supported by real-time ISR feeds, assault forces infiltrated the objective area under the cover of darkness while blocking forces
13:05established positions along likely escape routes.
13:08The operation achieved complete tactical surprise, overwhelming the terrorists before an organized response could be mounted.
13:16Faced with the speed, precision, and overwhelming combat power of the advancing troops,
13:22several insurgents abandoned their positions and fled into surrounding mountainous terrain, while others surrendered.
13:28The hostages were swiftly secured, medically screened, and evacuated from the objective area.
13:34Regrettably, two infants succumbed to exhaustion occasioned by the extremely challenging mountainous terrain and the hardships endured during the prolonged
13:43captivity.
13:44The remaining rescued abductees were successfully evacuated to safe locations for medical care and humanitarian support,
13:52marking a major operational success and a significant setback for the terrorist crew.
13:57The military high command has commended the courage, professionalism, and exceptional discipline displayed by all personnel involved in the operation.
14:06The military high command noted that the successful rescue of 360 abductees reflects the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations,
14:15the growing synergy among security stakeholders, and the unwavering resolve of the armed forces of Nigeria to protect innocent citizens
14:23and restore lasting peace to affected communities.
14:26The military high command further reassured the public that aggressive follow-on exploitation and clearance operations are ongoing to neutralize
14:34residual terrorist elements,
14:37dismantle remaining support networks, and prevent future abductions, the military stated as signed and made available by Lieutenant Colonel Haruna
14:45Sani, the acting media information officer.
14:48Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Haddon Kai, President of Borno South Youth Alliance, Samayla Kaigama had in a number
14:57of press releases refuted the claim that the 360 women and children were rescued,
15:03saying, he had an audio conversation with the Boko Haram terrorists on Friday and during the conversation, the Boko Haram
15:10terrorists agreed to set free the captives with some still-held hostage, hoping to be released on later date.
