Brandon Aiyuk broke his silence on social media, essentially calling out what appeared to be the 49ers. Is he trying to force their hand to not only let him go, but let him get to DC?
Transcript
00:00Grant and Danny on the fan. Welcome back. Thank you for making the show part of your Monday.
00:07So after a respite where we had not heard anything from Brandon Ayuk for an extended period of time,
00:13he took to social media to make his presence felt this week a couple different ways.
00:18The first thing we saw from Brandon Ayuk was some pictures that he had posted,
00:23including one picture where his pants were like almost down to his thighs,
00:28and he was in his boxers, like in the bathroom.
00:31I think that one was just to show everyone that he's in good shape because he was pretty ripped up.
00:36He looked like he had been in the gym quite a bit.
00:39I was sending a message there, I suppose, right?
00:41Yeah, because remember, a lot of people were suggesting with these images that were fake
00:46of him getting out of a car or whatever.
00:48He's wearing a hoodie like, oh, man, he's let himself go.
00:50He looks heavy.
00:51They're talking about his physique, and he's not working out or whatever.
00:54So he was shirtless, but he was in a Washington Commander's hat as if he needed another subliminal message in
01:03there.
01:03And then his pants were like halfway down his legs.
01:06So he's basically in his underwear.
01:08It's like an underwear model.
01:09In a Commander's hat.
01:10It's just a selfie in his bathroom.
01:13Mirror selfie.
01:14And he posted it with no caption.
01:19I took that to mean I'm in great shape, and I want to play for the Commanders.
01:23That was my viewing of that as well.
01:25There was another I want to play for the Commanders thing he did where he had what appeared to be
01:30a Commanders-issued football.
01:33I don't know if it was a, you know, you get this for a game ball performance or if this
01:39is a practice football.
01:41I took that as a message as if to say I've been throwing and working out with them.
01:46Like I've run some routes with Jaden.
01:48How do I have this football if I'm not moving things along?
01:53Maybe he was in California when they were throwing and we just didn't see him on video.
01:57But I don't know.
01:58Maybe I'm trying to find things where they're not, too.
02:00Where I'm a detective trying to sleuth around here, and it was just a football with a Commander's logo or
02:06whatever.
02:06But I took it to mean I'm actually ready to play with these guys because I caught some passes from
02:13one of the players that maybe I know pretty well who plays quarterback.
02:16Yes, indeed.
02:17I was thinking something like that.
02:18Yeah, there's a bridge that's been built there.
02:22I don't have any other interpretation.
02:24It seemed to me to be like the, I don't have a great analogy, but it's like letting someone know,
02:30hey, I'm no longer in that relationship.
02:31I'm single.
02:33Here are some Instagrams when I know you're online.
02:35Like I see your profile and it says Grant's online, and now I'm just posting picture after picture after picture
02:39wearing the Grant's My Favorite t-shirt.
02:41You know, like I'm trying to let you know that I'm single.
02:44Commander's gear.
02:44Yeah.
02:45You are under contract with the San Francisco 49ers, albeit you hate them and they don't like you, and you're
02:51not going to be there.
02:52But you're going to be a free agent, and that means there's 31 teams that can vie for your services.
02:56But I only like one of them.
02:57But one of them is the place I want to be, and it's right here in Washington, D.C. with
03:01the Commanders.
03:02But he wasn't saying anything.
03:04Some weird captions or whatever, but a couple of images.
03:06And then that changed on Sunday morning when we got our first comments from Brandon Ayuk during this dispute with
03:14the San Francisco 49ers.
03:16This was Ayuk on his Instagram page just yesterday morning.
03:21We dealing with, you know, like them kids, and they don't get picked for the basketball game at the court.
03:30But they're the ones that brought the ball.
03:33So they're like, all right, you don't want to pick me?
03:36I'm taking my ball.
03:37I'm going home.
03:39Ass boys.
03:40Little ass boys.
03:43Or like when your kid, he got this one toy, but he don't really know how to use it correctly.
03:52So somebody else about to pick it up and play with it.
03:55And they're like, oh, yeah, this lady.
03:57And they're like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, hold on.
03:59That's my toy.
04:01Ass boy.
04:02Little ass boy.
04:03Man, stop running from the belt.
04:06The belt coming.
04:08You scared.
04:09They scared.
04:10The truth is they scared.
04:12They know how I get.
04:13They're going to say, oh, yeah, B.A.
04:16B.A.
04:16B.A. did this.
04:17B.A. did that.
04:19B.A. did.
04:20You know that allegedly.
04:23Allegedly.
04:26But what they're not going to say is B.A. suck at football because they know how I get.
04:33And they running from that belt that's on the way.
04:36It's inevitable.
04:36It's coming.
04:38Stop running.
04:39Stop being a female dog.
04:41Stop being a female dog.
04:43Stop being a little cat.
04:45Stop being a little cat.
04:48Stop running from the belt.
04:52Oh, boy.
04:54All right.
04:55So there you go.
04:57There's Brandon Ayuk, the ancient philosopher, with some of his thoughts on everything going on.
05:04So I want to say this first, and I'm going to try to be careful here.
05:11I hate when we just automatically assume something is wrong with somebody.
05:18Do you know what I'm saying?
05:19Sure.
05:20People will say, oh, you know, he needs help, or there's some kind of mental health thing going on here,
05:26or this seems like CTE, you know, whatever that is.
05:31People will just say, when Antonio Brown is acting out and acting a fool and getting arrested and just acting
05:36like he's not a functioning member of society, everyone wants to just suggest, well, he's clearly got CTE and he
05:42needs help.
05:43And let's hope he gets help, and we'll say a prayer for him or whatever.
05:46Maybe.
05:46Maybe.
05:48But there are people who just act out.
05:51There are people that might be perfectly fine and are just acting differently.
05:55Now, I'm not suggesting Brandon Ayuk, who's only ever really, that I know of, been in trouble with the law
06:00recently for a speeding ticket, is the same as Antonio Brown.
06:04But I've seen a lot of people prescribing him with issues of, you know, CTE or whatever else is floating
06:12around there that are not doctors, that have no idea what's what.
06:15I've also seen a lot of people saying, like, his mental health is a question mark and all these things.
06:20I'm not going to subscribe or prescribe anybody on him, anything on anybody, because I'm not a doctor and I
06:26have no idea.
06:27All I can do is just judge people based on their actions, and I can say if he's in a
06:32bad place mentally.
06:33I hope that he does get to a happier place, a better place.
06:37This video, to me, was alarmingly weird, I thought.
06:40It was very strange.
06:41This is not how a grown-up posts videos.
06:47Like, if Jaden Daniels or Terry McLaurin or Bill or any player on our team did this, you would go,
06:55what in the heck is going on?
06:56That is super weird.
06:58It's kind of on brand with what I would have expected from Brandon Ayuk, to be honest, when he's posting
07:03shirtless boxers selfies in his bathroom.
07:06But at the same time, Danny, this is just my caveat to the conversation we'll have, my prerequisite, so to
07:11speak, before we dive in on this.
07:14This is strange behavior.
07:16So whether you want him here or you don't, let's just acknowledge this is a strange way for an adult
07:20to act, and then we can move forward.
07:22I think it's all fair.
07:23Let me stipulate to that.
07:25Now, I also had a strong takeaway.
07:28I understand who I am.
07:30I am a corny 46-year-old white.
07:33So in general, a young person speaking, I kind of don't understand all of it anyway.
07:38I have no idea what he was talking about.
07:41I don't know who's taking the ball and leaving.
07:44I don't know who the little-ass boy is that he mentioned multiple times.
07:47Who is the bitch?
07:48Who's the cat?
07:49Why are we slow-moing anything for some sort of weird effect?
07:53The slow-mo is important because that told me it was edited probably by somebody that wasn't him, but maybe
08:00him.
08:01But somebody somewhere along the lines had to listen to this thing while doing this editing for him for emphasis
08:06and said, yeah, this is a good idea.
08:08Now, let's run this.
08:09It wasn't like you were caught in a weird moment where you're just in your feels, you take to Instagram
08:15live, you record yourself for 30 seconds.
08:18No, no, no, no.
08:19This was like maybe you tried the first time.
08:22You're like, let me do one more take.
08:23Then you do this one.
08:24Then you send it to someone.
08:25They do the edit.
08:27Then you're like, this is perfect.
08:28Let's post it, which makes it that much more strange.
08:30So, again, I don't know who has the belt or what belt we're getting or someone's coming with the belt.
08:35I don't understand any of it.
08:36Again, it's not meant for me.
08:37Like, I understand 85% of it, I think.
08:41That's awesome.
08:42You got the analogy of the toy.
08:43I don't.
08:44I don't.
08:44No, let me just finish real quick, and then I'll tag you back in.
08:48What I can't do is the...
08:51Ranvin Aiyuk shared his thoughts over the weekend in a reasonable post, and people are going, he's expressing frustration.
08:56Are you sure?
08:58You see what I'm saying?
08:59Like, if a player goes, listen, guys, just wanted to get my word out there, just to let you guys
09:03know.
09:04It's not always what it seems.
09:05A lot of stuff I can't talk about just yet.
09:07But just know that the truth will come out, and I can't wait to play football again.
09:11Even if you said it in, like, a young person way, that would be reasonable.
09:15This is not like a press conference.
09:18Even, I was annoyed when Terry McLaurin at Eastern Motors, for your jobs, your credit, gave that impromptu presser.
09:24But at least he was speaking.
09:25See what I'm saying?
09:26Like, he was addressing points, and there was no analogy of little boys and taking your ball and going somewhere
09:31else and the belt coming.
09:33It was a, hey, these are my feelings.
09:35This is how I'm expressing it.
09:36Whether I like that or not, at least I could have something to respond to.
09:38I cannot believe people are just going, allow me to retort to this, or let me just treat this like
09:45a legitimate missive or a press release or something that was a normal thing to be able to discuss.
09:50It's blathering nonsense is what it is to me.
09:53Now, if you understood it, you speak Ayuk, that's great.
09:55You can translate for me.
09:56Yeah, I don't think there's a whole lot of speaking Ayuk necessary here.
10:00There's a couple things I don't get we could talk about.
10:02But for the most part, he used an analogy that I thought was fairly apt and made some sense,
10:06which was the Niners are a kid that doesn't want to play with the toy.
10:11The Commanders are another kid that wants the toy.
10:13Ayuk's the toy.
10:14In his mind, the Commanders want him.
10:17The Niners won't let the Commanders have them.
10:19And so now when the Commanders are trying to play with Ayuk, the Niners are not letting them, and now
10:24they want the toy.
10:25That's the analogy.
10:26The running from the belt thing, he is pretending like or saying that the 49ers don't want him to be
10:32on another team
10:33because they are afraid of how good he's going to be and that he's going to whoop them.
10:36Don't run from the belt.
10:37Like, I'm coming for you.
10:38I'm going to put up 175 on you.
10:40You know it and I know it.
10:42So I get all that.
10:43I don't understand when he kept saying ass boy, little ass boy.
10:46I don't know what that's about.
10:47That's the 49ers again in the analogy.
10:50But it loses me when you're just, instead of saying, sticking with the analogy, he's like little ass boying them.
10:58I don't know why.
10:59And then he kept saying allegedly over and over.
11:01That was his way of saying what they're telling you he's not buying or isn't necessarily the truth.
11:06I suppose.
11:07So I picked up on what he was suggesting in most of this.
11:11But I can't listen to it without kind of laughing out loud because it is just a strange thing.
11:17We can open up the phones for people on this next 800-636-1067.
11:22I want to know what you think Adam Peters thinks when he hears this, when he watches this video.
11:26And if you're Adam Peters and you're thinking about bringing BA into DC and you see this, does that change
11:32how you feel at all?
11:33Or is it just, you know, there's an eclectic guy who's in a weird place and it's been strange for
11:37a year.
11:38And so this is par for the course, but nothing to worry about.
11:40I mean, why do you want to sign yourself up for a Diva wide receiver who's potentially going to be
11:47posting weird, vague thing on social media after one after another?
11:52Grant and Dave.
