Europeans are more connected than ever, yet the cost of getting online varies dramatically. So which country gets the best price-connectivity deal?

00:00Who pays the most and the least for broadband in the EU?
00:07In an increasingly connected world,
00:09internet access has become an essential facility in homes across Europe.
00:13However, the cost of this access varies dramatically across the globe.
00:17Luxembourg is the country that has the most expensive internet service in the EU,
00:21with an average monthly cost of 49 euros and 99 cents.
00:25This is according to a broadband Gini study which analyzed 2,632 broadband tariffs
00:32in 214 countries around the world.
00:36The Netherlands and Finland follow closely,
00:38with average monthly broadband prices of 48 euros and 73 cents and 48 euros respectively.
00:46Despite their higher costs,
00:47the Netherlands and Luxembourg reported the highest levels of internet usage in the EU in 2025.
00:53On the other hand, Romania offers the cheapest broadband in the bloc,
00:58averaging around 6 euros and 66 cents,
01:01which ranks as the seventh lowest rate globally.
01:05Lithuania follows with an average price of 14 euros and 90 cents,
01:09and Bulgaria comes in at 15 euros.
01:12Between 2015 and 2025,
01:14both Bulgaria and Romania saw a rise in their household connectivity,
01:18with an increase of 34% and 28% respectively.
01:21Overall, Eastern Europe has the lowest internet prices worldwide,
01:26while Southern Europe ranks fourth in terms of affordability.
