00:30more experienced, but this Ron Langa Rossi was super focused, super behaving super well on court, maintaining her composure, and
00:42yeah, I'm super proud of the work and how, yeah, she was open to listening and to doing everything that
00:51is needed to win a Grand Slam, so I couldn't be prouder, how do you say?
00:57Prouder.
00:58Thank you. Conchita, congratulations. Mira mentioned she referenced on court your final here with Mary. Does this feel like a
01:06sort of personal retribution?
01:09Well, I mean, yeah, that was a very tough final to lose, but this feels amazing, to tell you the
01:17truth. I mean, of course, I would have loved to win Roland Garros as a player, but when you quit
01:26tennis and you look back at everything that you have achieved, I mean, I'm also super happy about my career.
01:34And then, you know, to have a super career as a coach and, you know, now Mira winning this Roland
01:43Garros was very, very special.
01:45Also, Garvinia was there, you know, we hugged. She was the first one that I won a Grand Slam with,
01:53and so it's very emotional. You know, I love this job. I love tennis. It's a passion of mine, so
02:03yeah, I couldn't be happier.
02:06Hi, Conchita, congratulations. I just wanted to ask about that long road and the ups and downs and Mira getting
02:12to a point where she's won seven matches in a row keeping her composure, as you said.
02:17Like, there have been moments not even that long ago of real tension and frustration from Mira. Was there ever
02:25a time when you doubted that she would get to this point with her composure or doubted that you would
02:31be able to be the person to get her or help get her to this point?
02:35Not really, because, you know, she's very, very young. And there is, even though she won Roland Garros here, there's
02:45still a very long way to go and to continue to learn.
02:51I knew, you know, things had to change for her to win big things. Yeah, sometimes I had doubts, like,
03:00I mean, if you don't change something, I mean, you make it extra difficult for yourself, so, you know, great,
03:10how do you say, kudos to her, kudos to her for changing, willing to change something, staying open, doing the
03:18hard work.
03:18And you can see, once she does the hard work, I mean, her potential just comes out. I mean, she's
03:26a natural, she's a great player. So this is the way. Are we going to see her the whole time
03:35like this? I really wish and I really hope. I mean, but I'm sure there's going to be ups and
03:42downs.
03:42But as long as she can continue to learn and to get better, we need to improve in many. I
03:49mean, she still has a big room for improvement in every department. So, I mean, I'm super excited for the
03:54future.
03:55Did you know before this tournament that that change had happened?
03:58I mean, this was a working process in during the tournament. I mean, she had a lot of ups and
04:03downs during the tournament. So, I mean, she was doing her job at the matches.
04:12So, she was able to keep her composure. So, at the beginning of the tournament, you know, there is always
04:18more nerves and things happen and, you know, maybe emotions come.
04:25But I'm glad that she kept it together and she was like working, working, working, working and was able to,
04:34you know, she has her tools to work on these things and she was able to, you know, to work
04:41with them and to finally, finally do it for, it's not easy, 14 days in a row. It's not easy.
04:50Congratulations, Conchita.
04:51I just want to ask about this opponent today in Cholinska because this is a very unexpected opponent probably for
04:57her first Grand Slam final.
04:58She kind of had nothing to lose. There's not a lot of, you know, data or, you know, experience that
05:03most players have with her.
05:05So, what was it like preparing for this sort of mysterious opponent today in this first Grand Slam final occasion
05:11and how did that add to the mental challenge of this day?
05:15Yeah, I mean, we tried to keep it cool and to follow the routines, you know.
05:21Of course, I'm not going to lie to you. I mean, I watch a lot of videos, a lot of
05:26matches, a lot of statistics and, you know, it was good that I was able to watch her live and
05:34in some matches because, I mean, sometimes, you know, how TV is different.
05:39I mean, I mean, she's very tricky. We all saw it, you know, in many matches how players had a
05:47tough time playing against her.
05:49It was, you know, it was a combination of being aggressive but staying patient.
05:57I think me after the fourth or fifth game, I started to do better, read a little bit better.
06:03I mean, I prepared her the best I could. There was a lot of information.
06:09Yesterday, also, for the practice, I think she was maybe a little bit overwhelmed but I think, you know, it
06:15was my job and then today it was just a warm-up and she was completely prepared.
06:21I mean, I think she didn't make a lot of drop shots where in another matches she did better, no?
06:28I think the game of Mira also disturbed her a lot and I think she did great.
06:37Good evening, Conchita. Congrats.
06:39Thank you.
06:40She said that she was not so easy to work with on a daily basis. What's your perception of this
06:47comment?
06:48Well, sometimes it's not. Sometimes it's not. I'm not going to lie to you.
06:53I mean, she's a super nice girl, you know, outside of the court or of, you know, sometimes in practice
07:01it can be a little bit difficult.
07:05But, you know, when she's open to listen, she's open to, like, you know, breathe and, you know, work with
07:13her emotions also in practice.
07:15Because if you don't do it in practice, how is it going to work, you know, when you play a
07:20match?
07:20So, yeah, there is days where it's difficult, you know, and sometimes, you know, I have to, you know, be...
07:28What's difficult? What's difficult?
07:29What is difficult? Well, her attitude. Her attitude is difficult, you know.
07:34You tell her something and maybe she's not open to listening and stuff like that.
07:39But, yeah, that is a little bit difficult because, I mean, you know, when she works hard and when she
07:49listens and she does everything, you know, she has no limits.
07:53So, the sky's the limit.
07:55I guess just on that, Conchita, you said the sky's the limit.
07:58Mira was talking about it being addictive, winning Grand Slam titles.
08:02Just wondered where you see her kind of going next and whether you think she can and should be regularly
08:06kind of winning these and getting to finals.
08:08I mean, for me, it's a working process. I mean, I've been with her for a couple of years, a
08:14little bit more, two years and some months.
08:16I think I started in April 2024.
08:20You know, when you win your first Grand Slam, I mean, I'm happy that she's, like, more confident and, you
08:28know, but like I said,
08:29there is a lot of things that she can still, you know, get better and she still has to develop.
08:37And, I mean, those are good news, no? And, you know, we have to stay humble.
08:41For me, one of the things is to stay humble, be open to work. Nothing is going to come easy.
08:48And she stays the way she's been doing for, I think, I mean, one of the hardest times was after
08:56Indian Wells and Miami.
08:59And the clay core season has been amazing. She's done really, really good in all of the departments, not because
09:06of the results.
09:06And then you see the results coming. So, for me, it's for her to improve and to get better. And
09:14then bigger things are coming.
09:16But you have to step in with the feet on the floor.
09:21Hi, Conchita. Even if Mira has something to improve, like you said, but she's number one in the race.
09:28And I heard a lot of people say that in terms of pure tennis, she's maybe the best player in
09:33the world.
09:33So, do you think she's now ready to become the real number one? And is it something that you're aiming
09:39for?
09:39Is it a goal for you? Or do you think it's too soon?
09:42For me, like I said, I mean, for me, every day is a working day.
09:47Every day is an opportunity to get better at things.
09:52When you work good, when you do your job, results will come, the ranking will come.
09:58So, no, there's nothing, there's not something that we have like, yeah.
10:03I mean, if it happens, great. But if we work day by day and she keeps getting better, I mean,
10:10she's an amazing player.
10:11And she can continue to grow and continue to get titles and get better at the rankings.
10:18I mean, the ranking will come along.
10:22We'll take a couple of last questions.
10:24Hi, Conchita. Well done.
10:26Thank you.
10:26She mentioned that she's been seeing a psychologist for about a year, year and a half.
10:31Is that like a situation where you're working with her and, you know, you can take care of so many
10:37things,
10:38but you're not a psychologist and you sort of feel like you need reinforcements
10:42or you need help from other people who have expertise in another area.
10:48For sure. We have an amazing team, you know.
10:51I mean, I think I was able to create a very, very good team around her.
10:58I mean, not only the psychologists, you know, the fitness coach.
11:02I mean, everybody's doing very, very good in their department.
11:06For me, it was very important to work on some things that I was seeing that needed work and, yeah.
11:15I think it was already in 2024 after Wimbledon where we had a chat and we were like, okay, you
11:27know,
11:27this is time to incorporate another person that is going to be very important for you.
11:34So, I think she started like right before Australian Open 2025 and it was good. It was good.
11:42And I hope she doesn't ask me anything.
11:44No, you have to do it in Spanish because that was the last question in English.
11:49Sorry. Espanol.
11:50Hay otra, hay otra. No way.
11:55Hello. I have a question. What is the best thing of working with Mira Andreeva?
12:03The best thing of working with Mira Andreeva is, you know, we get to play Uno and I always winning.
12:09So, that's the best thing when I win, you know, against her in Uno.
12:15That's it? Yeah. That's it.
12:18I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm fine.
12:23I'm fine. That's the only thing she says.
12:28I'm fine. I'm fine.
12:32I'm fine.
12:34I'm fine.
12:35That's a tough act to follow.
12:37Am I fired?
12:38Fire.
12:40Fire?
12:44You mentioned that there was a tough moment after Indian Wells and Miami.
12:48her first tournament on the clay was Lintz, which was a tournament I think you weren't there.
12:54I'm just wondering, coaches often say that like their role really is to allow the player to kind of not
13:01need the coach maybe.
13:03I'm just wondering, can you talk about how important that week was for Mira in her development and when you
13:09weren't necessarily there?
13:10Yeah. Yeah. After the, I don't know how you call it, the hard season in Doha, Dubai, Indian Wells, Miami,
13:22you know, wasn't as we would love to have the results, no?
13:28So, I looked at the tournaments and of course, you know, how we often make changes in the calendar.
13:36So, I saw Lintz, you know, was a very good opportunity for her to continue to play and to a
13:45good start to the clay.
13:48You know, I'm doing a lot of weeks and I have also a life and, you know, that was not
13:55in the calendar for me.
13:57But also, I saw it as an opportunity for her to go there to, you know, of course, I was
14:04on the phone 24-7.
14:06Of course, I prepared the matches with her. I gave her an everyday plan that she had.
14:14But yeah, I mean, it was also like, okay, you know, I'm not there, you know, now you don't have
14:19anybody to blame.
14:20So, you know, you go there, you, you know, you play your matches and think a little bit too, I
14:28mean.
14:30But, you know, I was in, you know, in Stuttgart the next week and I've been with her since every,
14:40every week.
14:41But yeah, it is, it is a lot of, a lot of work.
14:45You know, sometimes I do have, I do need a week off.
14:51And I think it was very good for her. It was a very good decision.
14:55That was the beginning of a very good clay court season.
14:58And here we are talking about the title.
15:02Thank you very much. We take questions in Spanish.
15:06Salud.
