00:59Well, I'll be honest, I've done a lot of visualizations before, not just this tournament, but just, you know, I've
01:07had dreams, I've had a lot of thoughts on how it's going to happen, if it's going to happen when,
01:13it's going to happen where.
01:13So, it's kind of, I would say that the feeling in real life is so much better, obviously, than in
01:20your dreams, and yeah, it just feels amazing looking at this trophy and, you know, realizing that this is actually
01:27true, and I can call myself a Grand Slam champion, I guess.
01:31Hey, Mia, congrats. You've dealt with pressure so well this tournament, especially after what happened last year, and you talked
01:37after the match about your relationship with your psychologist.
01:40Can you maybe tell us a little bit more what's that like, how has this journey been like with the
01:46psychologist?
01:47Yeah, I feel like, as you mentioned, I felt like I did handle my nerves a little bit better these
01:54two weeks.
01:55I mean, the beginning of the tournament was very tricky, though, I'm not going to lie, obviously, I've had some
02:01emotional matches and some emotional moments on the court as well, but, you know, I've actually talked to my psychologist
02:08before a semi-final match and before a final match, because, you know, I thought that it would help me
02:12be in the right set of mind before these, I would say, most important matches of my life.
02:18So, I wanted to prepare my best, and she gave me a lot of advice and a lot of, you
02:24know, techniques that I could try and use on the court to help myself to experience all of these things
02:30a little bit better and easier, and that's why, you know, I think that she deserves a lot of credit
02:36for this.
02:38Now that you've got one of these trophies, do you feel excited and kind of ready to be pushing for
02:45these regularly and adding to your trophy cabinet?
02:48I would say that kind of, yes, these feelings are something extra special, and honestly, now I'm already thinking of
02:58how I'm going to prepare for the grass season, how I'm going to play grass tournaments, and I would really,
03:04you know, I feel like this thing is a little bit addicting, and I really want to, you know, do
03:09my best to experience all of this for the second time.
03:13Mira, congratulations, I can't see you around your trophy.
03:16This was a difficult opponent in that no one had really seen that much of her playing before, obviously, she'd
03:22been winning a lot and hadn't really been at this level before, so what were the preparations like to play
03:26her?
03:26Did you talk to Deanna, maybe, who played her in the last round, and then also, I'm just curious if
03:30you can say about the pin that you got today, because I know you were most excited for that, probably.
03:35Yeah, that's true. Well, let's start with the first question. I actually didn't talk to Deanna, because, you know, I
03:42felt like, I don't know, if I would be at her place, I would be probably very proud, but at
03:50the same time, very disappointed that, you know, obviously, I lost, so I just didn't really want to bother her.
03:55Her, but, yeah, I mean, Maya, she's been playing amazing for three weeks. I think that it's very, very hard
04:03to pass Qualis and to go all the way to the finals, playing on a very high level, so, obviously,
04:09I was very nervous, because I've never played against her, so, I kind of knew her game style of what
04:14Conchita told me, but it's very different when you play an opponent that you've never played before, especially in the
04:20final of a Grand Slam.
04:21So, obviously, I was very nervous, and I also think that the conditions today were very, very hard, very tricky,
04:27because a lot of wind that is blowing, you know, both directions, I couldn't understand at some point which way
04:35the wind was going, and I'm just happy that I've dealt with these conditions and adjusted to the conditions, maybe
04:42a little bit faster than she did.
04:45Hey, Mira, congratulations. I know you've talked about Conchita a lot over the past few years, but I'm curious, what
04:51does this trophy and this wind say about your work on the court together and your relationship off the court?
04:56Yeah, for me, of course, it's very, very special to share a first Grand Slam trophy with her. We've done
05:04a lot of work together on the court, off the court. We've also been through so many good moments and
05:10some bad moments, especially, I would say, at the end of last year.
05:15So, it's very, very nice to share something like this with her, and, you know, see how happy she is,
05:23and also she told me that, you know, she's very proud of me, and to hear those words from her
05:28is very, very special to me.
05:31Hey, Mira, well done. Just about a month, a little more than a month ago, you were kind of in
05:37a bad way in Madrid, it seemed like. How do you think you got from there to here? Was there
05:46a big reset involved or anything like that that made you pivot and sort of get on a better track?
05:53Well, I wouldn't say that there was, like, a big reset or something that I, you know, just decided to
05:59switch completely or to change the approach for matches. There was nothing like this. I just, you know, decided that,
06:08like my psychologist says, that you can always choose how you're gonna, you know, be on the court and how
06:15you're gonna play and who you're gonna be as a person as well.
06:18So, I just decided to choose to be a fighter, and I also felt like, I watched a lot of
06:25Rogers matches here, and I felt like I really wanna, you know, I'm not gonna have, obviously, the same aura,
06:32like, ever.
06:33No one's gonna have the same aura, but I really wanna try to impersonate the way he behaves a little
06:38bit on the court, because I love watching him on the court when he used to play,
06:43and maybe that helped me a little bit, because I really wanted to, you know, look good on the court,
06:49you know, not be frustrated or, you know, be not happy with how I play, but, you know, so, also,
06:55for the people, it's nice to watch how, you know, players try their best and fight and compete.
07:00So, I just felt like, that's what I wanted to do, and, uh, that's what I was focusing on.
07:06Jonathan from Elinor.
07:07Hey Mira, congratulations. Um, you've been in the public eye since you were 15, and kind of touted for, and
07:13predicted for big things.
07:14Have you ever found it difficult to, to grow up and develop as a player and a person at such
07:19a young age, under such scrutiny?
07:21Well, um, I don't know, um, I've obviously felt in the beginning, it always feels like, oh my god, wow,
07:28you know, people get to know me here and there, and, you know, I'm here on social media, here on
07:32the internet, and everyone, you know, gets to know me, but also, at the same time, at some point, I
07:37felt like, I just really wanted to be off social media, and really wanted to, like, completely forget that all
07:44of that stuff exists, but I wouldn't say that to, you know, it was bothering me a lot.
07:49I, I would be honest, like, I like the attention. So, um, when, when they would post me on social
07:55media, I always liked it, so, um, there was just one moment of my career where I felt like, hmm,
08:01I don't really, you know, want people to post me, but most of the time, um, I would say that
08:06I don't mind.
08:09Mira, congratulations. You're so young, so this might be too long ago, but do you remember Maria Sharapova, um, winning
08:15here, and was that an, an inspiration for you?
08:18Of course, I remember her winning here, um, um, obviously, you know, she's played, um, amazing on clay, winning, how
08:26many did she win? One, two, I mean, of course.
08:29So, um, obviously, um, I knew that she was also here in Paris, and I was hoping, I don't know
08:34if she was watching the final, but I was hoping that she was, and, um, obviously, um, I've been thinking
08:40to myself that if she's watching,
08:41it would be really nice, you know, to show good tennis, some good level, um, I also know that, um,
08:47Sveta Kuznicova, she was also here, she sent me, um, a little voice message before the match, like, you know,
08:52trying to give me a lot of positive thoughts, and, um, a little bit of encouragement, like, hey, be happy,
08:59it's your first grandson final, like, how exciting, you know, just enjoy this moment,
09:03so I really appreciated that as well, and, um, I hope that they both watched the final and enjoyed it.
09:09Hi, Mira, congratulations. Um, in your celebration, you brought a dog onto court, and there's lots of photos of you
09:16with the dog.
09:17Is it your dog? Can you tell us a bit about that?
09:19Yeah, um, it's not my dog, uh, unfortunately, uh, but it's the dog of Conchita, and, um, she was here
09:27in the beginning of the week,
09:28but then, um, she left, and then they came back for the final, so, um, I felt like, you know,
09:35it's, it's very, very nice
09:36that they both came back, and, uh, I, I love dogs, and, obviously, I know this dog in particular, she's
09:4211 years old,
09:43so she's, you know, um, a little bit, you know, kind of a grandma, I would say, so, yeah, it
09:48was very, very nice
09:49to share that moment with the dog as well, even if it's not mine.
09:52Can I ask what the dog's name is?
09:53Her name is Luna.
10:01Hi, Mira. Um, I wanted to ask you, you went up five love in the second set, and then she
10:07won two games,
10:09and, uh, and the seventh game when you were serving for the match.
10:12What, what, what went through your mind when, you know, after that, and how, how did you fight back,
10:17and also, um, uh, you, you, you, you have a notebook which you bring on to court.
10:23Is that your journal which you have spoken about, and how crazy is your journal?
10:28What, what, what do you write down in, in your journal?
10:32Um, when she won those two games in a row, when I was 5-0 up, obviously, I was a
10:38little bit,
10:40you know, I obviously didn't want to lose those two games, especially the game and my serve,
10:44um, but I felt like on that side especially, I just told myself that it's fine,
10:50because, um, I felt like from that side the wind was going forward,
10:55so basically you couldn't really hit as hard as you usually hit because the ball would just,
11:01you know, be taken away further, um, you know, and be long, so, um, I was like, okay, fine, um,
11:08I like the other side better, so I felt like, okay, if this side didn't work,
11:11I'll try to win the game on that side, and, um, my notebook I write, um, I write things before
11:19every
11:19match and before and after every match that I play, uh, so before the match I just write something
11:24tactical, uh, some technique stuff as well, like how I have to play, if this doesn't work,
11:29like, you know, these are the key things for me to remember, and, um, some, a lot of, you know,
11:34encouragement and motivation and positive thoughts and sentences and words that, you know,
11:40that I think would help me during the match, if I need, um, you know, some support,
11:45and after the match I just write how the match went, how I felt, how she played, so, you know,
11:49I'm also prepared for the next, uh, times that I play against a certain opponent.
11:56Uh, well, first of all, big congrats, uh, such a young, uh, champion, uh, well, you were asked
12:04before about Sharapova. You were five and seven years old when she won it. At that time, there
12:11was no problem to call her Russian. Now, political is not anymore correct. We don't know what to
12:18do, how to say it, whether to write, to put the flag, not to put the flag. Is something
12:23that you suffer for it? I mean, that you would like somehow to be changed, and, uh, uh, any suggestion
12:32about it? What should we do, and, uh, what could happen? If the war is not over, of course, we
12:40would all wish that the war was over. Well, um, of course, I think, um, every person doesn't
12:48want, um, to have a war in the world, so, um, what I can say is that when I play
12:54tennis,
12:54um, you know, the only thing that I think about is how to play and how to win and how
13:01to, you
13:01know, um, compete well and how to, I don't know, just win matches. And, um, I don't really
13:09think about that, uh, when I play because I have so many things in my mind that I try
13:15to focus on, um, so I never think about those things when I play. Sorry, I'm hiding behind
13:22the trophy as well. Um, did you think growing up when you thought about winning Grand Slams,
13:28did you ever think the French Open would be the one you won first? Um, what's the one you're
13:32going to win next? Well, I wish I knew, but, um, when I was thinking, you know, when I was
13:39talking to some people, to my family and like, I remember the question came up and they're
13:44like, well, which Grand Slam would you want to win first? I always said that it wouldn't
13:48matter to me. I mean, a Grand Slam is a Grand Slam. Whatever comes first, I'll be super happy
13:52with it. Um, and, um, I kind of feel pretty happy that Paris came first because I love playing
13:58on clay. I played almost all my life on the surface and, um, I also speak a little bit of
14:04French. So I felt like, you know, this would be the perfect, uh, first Grand Slam for me
14:09to come. And, um, so super happy that it happened here.
14:14Thank you. Uh,
14:19during your victory speech, we heard something uncharacteristic. You actually thanked yourself.
14:23So how does this relationship with the person in the mirror look like and what is it going
14:27to look like from now on? Thank you very much.
14:30Uh, I don't know. I don't think it's going to change. I think it's all going to stay the
14:34same. Um, maybe it's going to change for the next two or three days, but other than
14:39that, I think, um, you know, I'm going to stay the same. I'm not going to change a lot.
14:44And, um, I just feel like it's kind of one of my trademarks now to say that during my speech.
14:51Um, so, um, you know, in, in the beginning I just said it to joke around and, you know,
14:57so everyone would laugh at how funny I am and at my humor. But yeah, then after, um, I kind
15:04of realized that, you know, why not to thank yourself because you're the one that, that
15:10works. You're the one that are, is doing the job. You're the one that, you know, feeling
15:15all the nerves. So, um, you know, after, after some time I've realized that it's actually very
15:20important to thank yourself. And, um, you know, um, you, you asked about the personality
15:25or what did you ask?
15:29Um, as well, as I said, I don't think it's going to change in any way, but I think, um,
15:37everything's just going to stay the same.
15:39Okay, thank you guys for Mr. Russian questions now.
