03:32My congratulations on your amazing run.
03:35I'm so interested about that.
03:36How are you going to handle all media,
03:38and not only media attention,
03:40on the one side to save your safe place,
03:43and on the contrary,
03:44to show people who you are,
03:46to tell something more about you.
03:48Is it difficult or not so much ?
03:51I mean, how I'll handle it, you ask ?
03:54How are you going to handle it ?
03:56I mean, I'll see.
03:58It will be different, as I said before,
04:00but I feel like I'm pretty grounded,
04:03and I have good people around me,
04:06so I know my priorities, you know,
04:08so I'll focus on them.
04:11And yeah, we'll see.
04:15Maya, congratulations on your run, just on the grass.
04:18Are you hopeful that Wimbledon
04:20potentially might give you a wild card,
04:22and how would you feel about going back into qualifying
04:26from having now played a final ?
04:28Well, I mean, that would be a news of a century, you know.
04:36Honestly, yeah, I don't expect it.
04:41But yeah, I mean, I'll see, you know.
04:43I will treat it as a challenge.
04:46It's a new surface.
04:48I don't have much time.
04:51But yeah, I'll give my all, you know.
04:54And we'll see.
04:55But I'm excited.
04:56Grass is always a nice kind of change.
05:02Congratulations, Maya.
05:04Great run here.
05:06I wanted to ask you about how you were feeling physically in this final.
05:11How tired were you?
05:12And how tricky an opponent,
05:14and what makes Mira so difficult to play against?
05:20Well, obviously I was tired, but it's normal.
05:24You know, I feel like everyone would be, and everyone is.
05:28like we were playing so many matches.
05:30But, I mean, all credits to Mira, because she's such an incredible player.
05:36So solid.
05:38She handled the conditions much, much better than me.
05:43So she, I mean, 100% deserved to win today, for sure.
05:50Hi, Maya.
05:50Well done.
05:52How nervous were you this morning, and how did you try to manage your nerves?
05:56What was your morning like?
05:57What did you do?
05:58Well, I did everything that I've been doing for the last three weeks,
06:03but definitely nerves were there.
06:06I was definitely stressed.
06:09But I was stressed before every single match, to be honest.
06:12Like, I couldn't eat for the last three weeks.
06:15Like, my coaches were eating pizza, and I was like, nah.
06:18So, yeah, so I'm just actually excited to kind of, you know, finish the tournament,
06:26and maybe the joy of eating will come back.
06:31Maya, well done.
06:33You mentioned that you don't even think you're necessarily playing at your best level.
06:37Do you think we then sometimes overestimate the gap from players around 100 in the world to the top?
06:44And do you think your run here will act as an inspiration to players at that kind of ranking?
06:49Well, I think so.
06:51I know many, many great players that are ranked outside top 100.
06:57You know, it's such a thin line now.
06:59I feel like a lot of things need to click.
07:03But, yeah, for sure, there are so many great players.
07:07And, yeah, I wish them all the best.
07:10I hope that my story these last days were inspiring for them.
07:19And, yeah, and I see them in the, let's say, top 50 now.
07:25Yeah, so.
07:27And just to follow up on that, you said that sometimes things just need to click.
07:31Well, especially if, you know, you haven't maybe played your best level this week,
07:35what is it that has clicked with you these three weeks?
07:38Well, I mean, you know, it's such a huge jump all of a sudden.
07:45But, really, it's been, I mean, 18 years of hard work and patience and, you know, perseverance.
07:55Like, I had to go through so much to be in this place, in this position.
08:02So, you know, life's weird sometimes.
08:05And you just got to kind of do your thing and believe that it will click someday.
08:10And I'm happy that it did.
08:16You started, you got a lead in midway through the first set and then she won, I think, 10 games
08:21in a row.
08:22So, what was the challenge when momentum went away from you and how did you try to bring it back?
08:27Well, I felt like I have no weapon against her today.
08:32She definitely handled wind much better than me and she played so smart.
08:40So, yeah, I feel like then, you know, the nerves, she wanted to kind of, you know, finish, like, you
08:46know,
08:47and she played with the wind so she was a bit, like, not hiding but, like, running away from the
08:53ball a bit.
08:55But, yeah, the wind was crazy.
08:57So, I mean, I was very, like, not surprised, I would say.
09:05I admire how she handled it, you know.
09:08Like, I know that I need to, like, work on it and I have a lot of work to do
09:12with that, so.
09:13Yeah.
09:17Mira talked about the demons in her head and the mental aspect of the game and how her psychologist helped
09:26her.
09:27And I know you've also had some issues with the mental aspect of the game.
09:31Is this something that all the top tennis players deal with and, you know, why is it such a mental
09:37game?
09:39Well, I guess you need to ask them. I can't speak on their behalf.
09:46But, I mean, I feel like tennis is such a tough sport.
09:50It's so individual. We start so early.
09:53We are basically kids when we start.
09:56And we are teenagers and, you know, people are expecting that we are going to behave like adults already.
10:03And we're just kids, really.
10:05So, the pressure is huge because every match we're kind of exposed and people can judge us like whatever they
10:16want, you know.
10:16And in this day and age, it's like you can write anything in the internet.
10:22So, yeah, I feel like it's very challenging and you just got to protect yourself as well as you can.
10:31Yeah.
10:36You just mentioned the thin line between the top 100 and the top 10.
10:40Do you think the mental strength is really the thing that makes a difference?
10:46I'm sorry, what?
10:47The mental strength of players makes a difference between the top 10 and the top 100?
10:55Well, it's a tough question. I mean, I feel like, I mean, for example, Mira today, she was so strong.
11:05She was so smart on the court.
11:07You know, she's only 19 years old, but she looks like she's so experienced.
11:12So, I honestly don't know. I will need to, if I want to race in the rankings, I will need
11:20to kind of figure out what's, you know, needed to be there.
11:23So, then I will give you the answer.
11:26Any other question in English?
11:30Just on your ranking, I mean, you're going to be, I think, 21 tomorrow or Monday.
11:34And that will get you into pretty much every tournament.
11:36But I'm wondering, before that, there's this Wimbledon wild card which you mentioned.
11:39It's a possibility in tournaments like Berlin or something like that.
11:42Would you like to play these main draws?
11:44Would you like for these tournaments to give you these wild cards before your ranking catches up on the entry
11:48lists?
11:49Yeah, I'm not going to play anything before Wimbledon, that's for sure.
11:54I definitely need some time to recharge.
11:57Even before there are round girls, I said that I need vacation after the tournament.
12:03So, now it's like three weeks that I'm kind of like, not waiting because I wanted to be here.
12:10But I just knew back in my head that I'm going for the vacation after the French Open.
12:15So, yeah, definitely need some time to recharge and I'm going to play only Wimbledon this year.
12:23Thank you.
