00:00Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has proposed a face-to-face meeting with Vladimir Putin in an open letter to the
00:07Russian leader saying he was ready for a, quote, full ceasefire.
00:12The letter marks one of the few times Zelenskyy has appealed directly to Putin since Russia's 2022 full-scale invasion
00:20and the first time he has ever sent a letter directly to the Russian leader.
00:24Zelenskyy opened a letter on Thursday saying when Vladimir Putin came to power over 26 years ago, many people in
00:31Ukraine viewed Putin positively.
00:34But that is now in the past, Zelenskyy said.
00:37According to the Ukrainian leader, now the overwhelming majority of Ukrainians view it positively that, quote,
00:44our long-range drones paid a visit to the opening of your forum in St. Petersburg, covering a distance of
00:51more than 1,000 kilometers.
00:52It is not the first time Zelenskyy, who believes only face-to-face talks will yield an agreement on territory,
00:59has called for a meeting with Putin.
01:01But this time, the Ukrainian presidential office confirmed the letter was sent to Moscow and was shared with Kiev's partners,
01:08including the U.S.
01:09In response to the letter, the Kremlin said on Thursday evening that Zelenskyy is welcome to meet with Putin in
01:15Moscow anytime.
