00:00Let's get into what Miles Garrett had to say, though, about Laramie Tunsil, the left tackle for the Commanders,
00:06who probably is the best player on the team if you take Jaden Daniels, who's upside out of the equation.
00:12Maybe Terry McLaurin could have something to say about that.
00:14But Garrett was on a show where he was fishing with fellow elite edge rusher Will Anderson,
00:21and this is what he had to say about Tunsil.
00:23First person to give me problems in my career, probably David Bakhtiari.
00:28My first year, boy, he was all over me.
00:33I don't know if I recorded a stat, a pressure.
00:36Like, I was out of the game.
00:40After that, I was pretty good.
00:44Last time, I felt like I was frustrated with somebody.
00:47It was probably Laramie.
00:50Laramie?
00:51Tunsil.
00:51I got to go against him this year.
00:53I'm excited about that matchup.
00:56I got a ton of respect for him.
00:59Laramie Tunsil.
01:00I don't know that we talk enough about how good he is.
01:03There was way more pixels spent, it felt like, on the Marshawn Lattimore trade being terrible
01:07than the Laramie Tunsil deal having been awesome for them.
01:11Tunsil, that trade worked out in spades.
01:13They've extended him.
01:14He's a beast, man.
01:15He is the caliber of player there haven't been a lot of around here in a long time.
01:18He's really good.
01:19Also, just a quick question.
01:21Was that a belch or like a subdued burp by Anderson there as he was listening and answering
01:27to the question?
01:27I thought it was.
01:29Yeah.
01:29So the way it was described to me by Darius, I did not see this podcast, but they're on
01:34a boat fishing.
01:35So it seems uber casual, like their rods are in the water, you know, they got their fishing
01:40lines out.
01:41Maybe they're having a beer or a soda and they're just out there waiting for a fish to nibble.
01:46So when you're doing an interview that casually and you're not, you know, sitting shirt and
01:50tie opposite somebody from Fox Sports breaking it down, Ray Taylor or whoever, it may be you
01:55just let out a belch.
01:56I don't know.
01:57Can I hear it again?
01:57Can we go to the videotape on that, please?
01:58Especially with some mouth pie.
02:00Pie Laramie.
02:01Laramie.
02:02Right there.
02:02Yeah.
02:03Oh, definitely.
02:03Yeah.
02:04Because you could tell how he talks right now.
02:05Like he's like about the, he does that like, I'm going to burp, but then I have to clear
02:09my throat to get it going again.
02:11Pie Laramie.
02:13Laramie.
02:13Yeah.
02:13Tonsil.
02:15I mean, that's, that's a bear clearing.
02:17It's throat right there.
02:18Then that's, I mean, that, that was a dad at the, at the end of the Thanksgiving third
02:22helping plate.
02:24Belch.
02:24That was deep.
02:25Are you a bothered by Belch guy?
02:27No.
02:28Well, when it's, I don't know how to say this.
02:30When it's gross.
02:31Yeah.
02:31When like, just, you got to, you got to Belch, you got to Belch.
02:34We all, we've all done it, you know, the bad stuff out.
02:36But when it's, I'm trying to choose my words very carefully.
02:40When there's a little water weight behind it, you know what I'm talking about?
02:44When it's a Belch and gurgle, when it's like a, when it's a liquidy Belch, when it's
02:48like something almost sprinted out of there, you know what I mean?
02:51Where something was moving from down to up, but it was subdued and squelched.
02:55Yeah.
02:56Those are the ones that I kind of go, oh, that's nasty.
02:58Right there.
02:59It is pretty casual though.
03:01Like we're mic'd up.
03:03We're doing an interview that's going to make its way around the country.
03:06We'll just burp real loud on the microphone.
03:11Like if I had to burp on the show, I'm, I'm using the cough button.
03:15Or if I'm burping on busting loose baseball, we're probably editing that sucker out.
03:20We got a chance.
03:21This wasn't live streamed.
03:22I don't think they could have, if they wanted to, they could have just edited that part out
03:26and it would have picked up with Laramie.
03:28They don't want to do that.
03:29I don't think I can hear Laramie without a Laramie.
03:34Did you just burp on command?
03:36I did.
03:36I did.
03:37That's not terrible.
03:38I can do a, a half-ass burp on command.
03:43Let me hear it again.
03:45Laramie.
03:45That wasn't a burp.
03:46That's a burp.
03:47Yeah.
03:48Oh, it sounded like you made a noise.
03:50Yeah.
03:50That's what it is.
03:50It's not a great burp.
03:51It's not a deep belch.
03:52That's on.
03:53That's has to come up.
03:54I don't think I can do it.
03:55It's forced.
03:56I don't think you can.
03:59Was that one?
04:00Yeah, that was.
04:02That was a great one either.
04:03No, but that's the one that sounds like it's a little troubling.
04:06You know what I mean?
04:07Like there's something bad behind it.
04:08Right.
04:09When you like, when I hear my kids do that thing out, I don't know where that came from.
04:13Exactly.
04:13When I hear one of my kids do that, I think we've got about half a second.
04:17Right.
04:17Before we need a bopping bucket.
04:19I had to push that hard enough that if it was coming out of a different place on the wrong
04:23day, I'd be worried about it.
04:25You know what I'm saying?
04:26I do.
04:26I do.
04:27But, but anyway, back to the point at hand, you sleep on Will Anderson.
04:32You know, you're so worried about him being a burper.
04:34You just don't understand how good he is at football.
04:36The burper.
04:37You're focusing on the wrong thing, I think, personally.
04:40I think that's fair.
04:40But can we get back to Laramie Tunsil being really good?
04:42Yeah, let's do that, please.
04:43Miles Garrett.
04:44Are you talking about that again?
04:45Future Hall of Famer, dude.
04:47And he is the best in the league, and he's been the best in the league for a bunch of
04:50years.
04:50And the guy that last gave him problems is our guy, Laramie Tunsil.
04:55That says something.
04:56100% does.
04:57I love that.
04:58I love it when, you know, for years, when someone would go, who's the nastiest pitcher
05:03you face?
05:04And they would just go, Scherzer.
05:06He was ours.
05:07I love that.
05:07Who's the, you know, who's the best left tackle?
05:09Who's the guy there to deal with?
05:09Oh, there's so much pride in that.
05:10That's a good point.
05:11I love, that's the support that I care about the most.
05:13It's like, oh, you mean my guy?
05:14You mean my book and left tackle I don't have to worry about?
05:16That guy?
05:17I love that security.
05:19I've just, you know, come from a place, all our experiences as fans kind of shape us in
05:25terms of our philosophies and things that we believe in terms of team building.
05:29I will never not have a great left tackle.
05:31Like, I can't do a get-by thing, just simply because that's the only spot we've been spoiled
05:35here.
05:36If you think about the baton passing from Chris Samuel or Joe Jacoby before him, really
05:41when I grew up, but Jacoby to Jim Lachey to, you know, Chris Samuel with a gap in there,
05:46admittedly, and then to Trent Williams and another gap.
05:49But now with Laramie Tunsil, it's just such a security blanket.
05:52I love having that.
05:53I love having somebody that everybody thinks is nasty.
05:56Chris Samuels, who was drafted one pick after LeVar Arrington in the greatest draft in the
06:01history of the team, maybe.
06:02When you go LeVar two, Samuels three, Chris Samuels out of?
06:07Alabama.
06:09Alabama.
06:10Crimson Tide.
06:11Roll Tide.
06:11Yeah, so here's what I was thinking about when I wanted to chat Tunsil.
06:16He's definitely the best player on the team, taking Daniels out of the equation, right?
06:21I know he's the most popular countrywide as being good.
06:26How do I say that cleaner?
06:28He has the most notoriety for being great.
06:30Whatever that Miles Garrett clip is after that burp, that happens more for Laramie Tunsil
06:36than anywhere else.
06:37Like, he's the most famous for being good.
06:39But right now, this second, you're taking Daniels out of it because I think that complicates
06:44things and what he could be if he's playing like 24.
06:47The rest of the roster, Tunsil has to be their most valuable player.
06:51Maybe the better way to think about it is, is there anyone that could get more in a trade
06:57than Laramie Tunsil would net them right now?
07:01No.
07:02No.
07:02And I frankly don't think it's close.
07:03Even at his age?
07:04Like, if you traded Sonny Stiles right now, that's a bad one because he's an inside linebacker.
07:09So the value versus left tackle is just not going to work.
07:13Yeah.
07:13I mean, I guess I'm talking myself out of it.
07:16Could you get a one for him?
07:18We just saw the Eagles trade A.J.
07:19Brown for a first-rounder.
07:21And on my text thread with Buddies, somebody asked, is there anyone on the commanders that
07:24can get a first-round pick back?
07:25And I said, absolutely not.
07:27No chance.
07:27Non-Daniels division, obviously.
07:29Right.
07:29Yeah.
07:30I think maybe you could just because of how premium the position is and how well he's
07:33played since he's been here.
07:34I think a team like the Rams, that's like a Super Bowl caliber team, if they needed a
07:40left tackle that just doesn't give a bleep.
07:43I'm trying to think.
07:43Find me that team, Dad.
07:47A really competitive, like if the Seahawks had an injury or something and really needed
07:52a left tackle, I could see them trading a one going into the year for Laramie Tunsil in
07:56an arms race with the Rams, or a team like the Lions or someone with a closing window,
08:01right?
08:02But it's probably more likely you'd get two twos.
08:05Yeah.
08:05You'd get kind of what Washington did, you know, multiple picks over multiple years,
08:09et cetera.
08:09But yeah, you're right.
08:10I mean, and also now's not the exact right time for it, but just the point is in this
08:14weird hypothetical that we're doing, let's just say all the players are up for auction.
08:18You know, like we're going, that's it.
08:20Washington is folding.
08:21Everybody else gets to bid whatever draft pick they want on our players.
08:25Like an expansion draft.
08:25Yeah.
08:26I think he's the only guy that would fetch a first rounder, potentially.
08:29And it'd be a back-end first round, right?
08:31It wouldn't be a top five pick.
08:34Somebody would use that elsewhere on their own, you know, franchise left tackle who's 22 years
08:37old or a quarterback or something like that, but in terms of positional value at a key
08:41spot, no one else gets a first rounder in my view.
08:44I'm going to open up the phones on this at 800-636-1067.
08:50That's 800-636-1067.
08:53Is there an argument to be made for somebody else on the roster having more trade value
08:58than Laramie Tunsil?
08:59And again, we're excluding the quarterback room and Jaden Daniels.
09:04And is there any conversation to be had on anybody else that could get you even a top
09:10two-round pick?
09:12This is not something they should be doing.
09:13I'm just asking for the sake of the conversation.
09:15What would they get for Terry right now?
09:18I was thinking a three.
09:20But didn't Jalen Waddle get a one this offseason from Denver?
09:25I think so.
09:26It was either a one or a two.
09:27I think it was a one.
09:28A.J.
09:28Brown's an obvious one.
09:29Waddle got a one.
09:31He's younger, has more kind of runway ahead of him probably than McLaurin.
09:36And Terry's coming off of an injury-plagued season that was the worst of his career, which
09:40would hurt.
09:41But I think if you flipped him right now, he, to me, is the second best player on the
09:45team probably.
09:46Maybe Deron Payne.
09:48But Payne didn't play like it last year necessarily either.
09:52I think Tunsil nets you a two twos.
09:55Maybe you could get a late first from a contender.
09:58If they're in a desperation pinch because someone got hurt.
10:02And then McLaurin might be the next best player on the roster.
10:07Owe just got $100 million in free agency.
10:09He might have maybe higher value than we're thinking in real time because everyone values
10:15the position he can get to the quarterback.
10:17There's a reason why they had to give him $100 million, that bag, because a lot of teams
10:20probably wanted him.
10:22So could he be number two on that list?
10:24He's never played a snap here.
10:26And I think that's kind of one of the points that I think a lot of folks, and we'll talk
10:30about this later, but Seth Walder had them in the early 20s in his power rankings.
10:34Kind of my view of this roster in general, it's better, but it's still under-talented.
10:38I mean, you talk about this all the time over the years with blue chippers, like how many
10:41first-team All-Pros, et cetera, that they've had.
10:43The answer's precious few over the years.
10:46They're still lacking in this regard, in terms of high-end stuff.
10:49There are guys that are good, but that's not the conversation.
10:53The conversation is, how many of this do they have?
10:54I mean, to me, if Daniels plays really, really well again, he would jump to the top of the
10:59list.
10:59A, because of the outsized import of the quarterback position, but even still, what we saw as
11:02rookie year was remarkable.
11:04It was transcendent.
11:05So you do that again, he's won.
11:07But as of right now, I don't think he's won.
11:08I think Tunsil is, because there are recent deposits in the bank where he is at the tip-top
11:14of this league.
11:15You don't have to go very far down to find him.
11:18Daniels, the arrow's still trending up, potentially, on where he could land, but he was not a top
11:22five or top ten quarterback last year, and I'm hoping that he gets back there this year,
11:26but Tunsil is.
11:27So to me, he's won, and everyone else is kind of fighting for second.
11:30Yeah, phones are open if you guys want to chime in on this.
11:33At 800-636-1067, does anybody give Tunsil a run for his money?
11:37As the most valuable asset, or the best player on the team, other than Daniels Plus.
11:43A.J. DeBonsa was asked a question about possibly playing for the Wizards, and gave a compelling
11:48answer, where he actually talked about a future in D.C.
11:51You'll hear that answer as we continue on the fan.
