00:09The Ministry said citizens aged 18 and above can choose either a 5 or 10 year passport, depending on their
00:16needs.
00:17It said the 10 year passport, launched by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today, is expected to reduce renewal frequency, save
00:25users time, and facilitate travel.
00:27The 5 year passport will remain priced at RM200 while the 10 year version will cost RM350, RM50 cheaper than
00:37if it was renewed after 5 years.
00:38The Ministry said the new passport carries 94 security features, up from 49 presently, including holograms as well as ultraviolet
00:48and rainbow printing to prevent forgery.
00:50The hibiscus icon will be replaced with Rajah Brook's bird-winged butterfly, representing the country's biodiversity and natural heritage.
00:59The rollout will take place in phases at 71 passport offices nationwide, with the public advised not to rush to
01:07replace their existing passports, which remain valid until their expiry.
