00:02This morning, the picture is getting a bit clearer after Tuesday's primaries across the country, starting in California, where Los
00:09Angeles appears headed for a high-profile mayoral runoff.
00:13Incumbent Mayor Karen Bass is on track to advance to November after falling short of the 50 percent needed to
00:19win outright.
00:20And with ballots still being counted, former reality TV star Spencer Pratt appears to have the inside track for the
00:27second spot, holding a lead over city council member Nithya Raman.
00:31Bass is campaigning on experience and her efforts to rebuild Los Angeles after last year's wildfires.
00:37Pratt has positioned himself as a political outsider, promising change at City Hall.
00:42Los Angeles is the creative capital of the world, where we dream and we make our dreams come true, where
00:51our industry was leaving, but we're bringing it back.
00:56We're bringing it back.
00:58Ever now, I feel very confident that I'm going to continue to work hard, learn everything I need to learn,
01:04build my teams, show all the experience I'm going to surround myself with,
01:09because that's a concern, I'm going to build that experience around.
01:14We have five months to live, best team the city could ever dream of around.
01:19The California governor's race is still too close to call.
01:22Republican Steve Hilton holds a narrow lead in early returns, with former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra close
01:29behind.
01:30If those standings hold, both men would advance to November under California's top two primary system.
01:37Billionaire Tom Steyer remains in contention as counting continues.
01:41Change is coming to California.
01:45Change is coming to California, and it's long overdue.
01:53I want to just say something from my heart to every single person who's voted for me.
02:02We're not there yet, but it's looking good.
02:08And while I take nothing for granted, there are lots of ballots left to be counted.
02:13It appears that we are on track to advance to November.
02:20One step closer, one step closer to the son of those hard-working immigrants, Maria and Manuel Becerra, becoming the
02:29next governor of the great state of California.
02:32We're going to wait until every ballot is counted.
02:34We're going to give democracy a time to work, and we know we finished really strong.
02:39In Iowa, one of the biggest surprises of the night came in the Republican race for governor.
02:45Trump-backed Congressman Randy Feenstra lost to farmer and businessman Zach Lon by about one percentage point, a margin of
02:53roughly 2,000 votes.
02:54Feenstra has conceded, and Lon will now face Democratic State Auditor Rob Sand in November.
03:00In Iowa's open U.S. Senate race, Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson won the GOP nomination and will face Democrat Josh
03:08Turek in November.
03:10And the U.S. Supreme Court is allowing Alabama to use its current congressional map while legal challenges continue.
03:17A lower court recently found the map discriminated against black voters.
03:20The Supreme Court's order means it will remain in place for now.
