00:00It was not all that shocking when it went down because we've been talking about it for months, if not
00:07years.
00:07The possibility of A.J. Brown to the Patriots, the possibility of big-name receivers to the Patriots.
00:13This long journey has finally come to a conclusion.
00:17He is coming to the path.
00:19So you say it's a win for Mike Vrabel.
00:20Yeah, I just think it's a win for him.
00:22Just based on the way the year ended and what he brought back to this football team
00:26and then what he went through this offseason, which everybody, I think, knows what it is.
00:31And there was talk of, ooh, this could knock him down a peg.
00:35This could take not potentially some of the responsibility away from him or the power away from him.
00:41But, boy, what if he doesn't coach?
00:43What if he's not there in week one?
00:45Should the team act against him?
00:47No, they backed him.
00:47And they said, you want this guy?
00:49They cleared him.
00:49You go get him.
00:50This is a Mike Vrabel move.
00:53The drafting of the lineman in the first round didn't feel like, oh, okay, that's a Mike Vrabel-type pick
01:01there.
01:01Maybe that was more of the whole room that scouted the collegiate draft at that time
01:07and that the value of tackle right there, we're going to do that.
01:10I remember Mike talking since the beginning of the combine, like, we need edge guys.
01:14We need a big-time edge guy.
01:15We need pass rushers.
01:16I thought they would have won pass rusher in the first round.
01:18I did.
01:18I thought they would have won defense.
01:19I was kind of shocked they took another tackle there.
01:22But then, you know, you get this type of move.
01:23This has got Vrabel's name written all over it.
01:25This means this is his football team.
01:27We knew it was his football team.
01:29I think this reassures everybody that Mike's there.
01:33Mike's in control.
01:34It's about football now.
01:35And this is where we're going to start watching him and see how much he puts into the season.
01:39You know, and just his ability to get there each and every day as he has been.
01:42The energy.
01:43He saw him at a softball game the other day, smiling, hanging out with the guys.
01:47He's got to get back to beating himself.
01:49You know, in his first couple press conferences after what happened, you know, I don't blame him.
01:55You know, it looks like he was a little down there.
01:56A little sheepish.
01:57But that last press conference went back and forth with you already a little bit.
02:01Like, that's the old Vrabel right there.
02:03And that just felt like he's in much more command.
02:05And, hey, man, this is a big move.
02:07It really is.
02:08This is big for this team.
02:09They don't do this usually.
02:11Like, you talk about making moves like with Brandon Cooks.
02:14Like, and when the team drafted poorly and you got to the end, you sort of get a little desperate.
02:18You gave Antonio Brown 11 million bucks for one game.
02:22Like, you went out and got that guy because you knew you needed something like that.
02:26You traded a second-round pick for Mohamed Sanu because you couldn't draft.
02:30So this is what you do.
02:32Like, when you can't draft and develop guys, I give them credit for going out and getting a good talent
02:36like that
02:37because you gave up collateral to go do it.
