00:02SpaceX pushed the FCC to require U.S. wireless carriers to unlock most phones 180 days after
00:08activation, according to a PCMag report. The letter, also signed by the Rural Wireless
00:14Association, NTCA, and ACA Connects, argued the rule would protect consumer choice and
00:20promote competition. SpaceX called 180 days a middle ground, giving carriers time to manage
00:26fraud risks while creating a predictable path to unlocking. The letter also criticized
00:31prepaid lockup periods of 365 days, calling them egregious for lower-income customers.
00:39SpaceX separately filed an amended S-1 with the SEC, introducing a lock-in period for Musk's
00:45Class B shares, and confirming a Starlink Wi-Fi deal with American Airlines.
