00:00Put my arm around you, AJ.
00:01Let's talk about how great this is.
00:02But it is when AJ Brown talks about the Patriots,
00:05especially in this Maria Taylor interview.
00:06Yeah, yeah.
00:07Like, he goes on like it is magic.
00:08In fact, what did he say even in this availability?
00:11This isn't heaven, but it's close to it.
00:12It was very cool.
00:14Like, hearing him say that, it truly feels like he wants to be here.
00:17I loved his answer about Mike Vrabel.
00:19I thought that was great because we know that there was a history of them
00:22butting heads.
00:23But he also has come out and said that Vrabel and the way that he pushed him
00:26has made him the player that he is.
00:28You know, it's almost like Whiplash, the movie.
00:30You know, Vrabel's that, you know, bald-headed teacher.
00:33And he's Miles Teller.
00:35But I thought that he's the kind of guy that's not going to wilt under the big
00:41lights, not just because he's played in some of the biggest games,
00:45but also because he's played in Philadelphia.
00:47And there's very few markets where there is a scrutiny on your players
00:52as there are in Boston.
00:55You've got Philly, Chicago, Dallas, New York.
01:00Trying to think where else.
01:02Am I missing any other big city where the press is just ravenous?
01:08No, I think those are the big ones.
01:09I mean, like, Pittsburgh is obviously football is all people care about,
01:13but it's not.
01:13But that's not the same.
01:15It's kind of small market, small timey in a way.
01:16Because there were times where I felt that Aaron Rodgers was being protected
01:20by the media up there and being very polite and the people who –
01:26and there's a lot of national people now who end up, you know,
01:28asking some of the tougher questions.
01:30But I do like that A.J. Brown comes from that pedigree.
01:32I don't know if you've seen this thing that's gone around.
01:35I think it might have been ESPN.
01:36I've got to give him credit.
01:37But they wrote down notable wide receivers in their first season
01:40with Josh McDaniels.
01:42Yeah, I've seen them making the rounds.
01:43And it's pretty impressive.
01:44You know, they started 2007 with Wes Welker.
01:47His first year with Josh McDaniels, 1,175 yards, eight receiving touchdowns.
01:52Yep.
01:53Randy Moss in 2007, 1,493 yards, 23 receiving touchdowns.
01:592009 Brandon Marshall, this is out in Denver, 1,120 receiving yards,
02:0410 receiving touchdowns.
02:05And then Devontae Adams out with the Raiders in 2022, 1,516 yards, 14 receiving touchdowns.
02:12I think you could throw Steph Diggs in.
02:13I mean, last year, his first year here, he had a pretty good season.
02:16Yeah.
02:16Didn't finish great.
02:17The Super Bowl was a little bit of a letdown,
02:19but so was the entire offense and obviously the protection.
02:21But, yeah, and what was the clip that McDaniels spoke today?
02:25And he said, there's a force to the way he plays the game,
02:27maybe the closest thing I've seen since Gronk.
02:29This is a big guy.
02:31So, you know, and you feel like you're simpatico with Josh.
02:33The only pushback that I see, now Philadelphia, obviously being what it is,
02:37this is not a big shock.
02:39But the headline in the Philly Inquirer from Marcus Hayes is,
02:43Good riddance, super diva wideout, A.J. Brown's talents couldn't compensate for all the headaches.
02:48And he goes into, here's just read the first part of it.
02:51Rejoice that A.J. Brown was an eagle.
02:53Be glad that he spent four years as the best receiver the franchise has ever known.
02:56Rejoice now that he's gone.
02:57No more distractions, no more favoritism, no more veiled accusations that Jalen Hurts
03:02lacks the arm strength, the courage, and the football IQ to maximize his talent.
03:05No more insubordinate accusations on social media that the Eagles offense,
03:09led by a callow coordinator, is a bleep show.
03:12So, and it just goes into, you know, some of the drama that he had there.
03:16Sure.
03:16But do you, so do you worry about that?
03:17I think it is a legit question.
03:19Because even on the text line, some people are like, okay, this guy is going to be a diva.
03:22But when he talks, he actually wears it with a badge of honor.
03:26He comes in and he says, I'm going to try to push this team.
03:29And he admits that he uses the media for that purpose to try to get the team fired up,
03:34which is something different than I've ever heard a guy say.
03:36I just don't think under Vrabel it's going to be that way.
03:38I just have a feeling that, you know, when you have Nick Sirianni, he doesn't come across as an alpha.
03:46And Ted said it best.
03:47Like, Mike Vrabel's an alpha's alpha.
03:49Like, when he's in a room, no matter who the player is, he is the guy in charge.
03:53It's one of the reasons I wanted him to be a coach here, even when they brought in Gerard Mayo.
03:57I'm like, what are you doing?
03:58Go after Mike Vrabel.
03:59I don't feel that A.J. Brown is going to be, I mean, what's the term we're looking for?
04:05A loose cannon?
04:06I could see him.
04:07I could see he and McDaniels snapping at each other on the sideline.
04:10I think we're going to get that.
04:11Which may not be a bad thing.
04:12Like, he did it with Sirianni.
04:13I could see he and Drake May having some moments.
04:16That would be the biggest one you worry about.
04:19Get me the football.
04:20I just think that A.J. Brown is going to fall in love with Drake May because his style of
04:24football is perfect for A.J. Brown.
04:27Absolutely perfect.
04:28Hand in glove.
04:29Perfect.
04:30Made for a player like A.J. Brown.
04:33I did enjoy the question that was asked about his knee because it's a tough question.
04:38I wanted to hear his reaction to it.
04:39Do we have that by any chance?
04:41You just said thumbs up.
04:42Do we have the knee question?
04:44All right.
04:44Can I hear that one more time?
04:45I thought this was one of the better questions, except for, of course, you know, when you get over the
04:49magic of being a Patriot.
04:51Let's take a listen to this one more time.
04:52Can you just let us know kind of how your knee is feeling?
04:56Any updates with that?
04:58Because I know sometimes the injury has come up.
05:00No injury, nothing to worry about.
05:03You know, I think this whole little, you don't understand where I came from.
05:08So any conversation about anything is going to come up, you know.
05:11So maybe in, what, four years I'll miss one game from shot to the knee.
05:20So that's nothing to worry about.
05:22I'm good.
05:23I'm ready to go.
05:24You know, so.
05:25Do you believe him?
05:26I do believe him, especially this year, that the magic of year one is going to be strong with this
05:31one.
05:31And it will be magical.
05:32So, I mean, it's hard to argue with his, you know, his resume.
05:35It's not like he is missing games.
05:37He's not Garrett Crochet.
05:38He's not our man Roman right now.
05:40He's the guy plays.
05:41All right.
05:41So I wrote this down during the commercial break here because who is it who had the hot take on
05:47ESPN?
05:48Oh, Damian Woody.
05:49Damian Woody.
05:50Yeah.
05:50That this is now the Patriots have the best receiving core in the league.
05:54And you hear that and you're immediately, I don't know.
05:56That Patriots wide receiver room may be the best in the league.
05:59All right.
06:00So I wrote down a couple that I think are better.
06:02The Dallas Cowboys.
06:04They have a better receiving core.
06:05Now, are you talking, we're just going top two here, which really, I think you have to,
06:09obviously there are a lot of three wide receivers.
06:11You're talking about like the top two players.
06:12Yeah, but you're not going like deep down the roster.
06:14No, no, no, no.
06:15All you have to do is do top two.
06:17Matter of fact, the list I'm looking at here, the list that I wrote down, I'm thinking top two
06:20because you got CeeD Lamb and George Pickens.
06:21I think that the Cowboys might be the best.
06:25But if they're not the best, they're 1A, 1B, somewhere around there.
06:28And that would be the Bengals.
06:29The other one.
06:30Bengals.
06:30Jamar Chase.
06:30Jamar Chase, Tee Higgins.
06:32And the Rams.
06:32I think you've got to put the Rams ahead of them with Puka and Devontae Adams.
06:35I think that's another great one, which I did not write down.
06:39I think you could make an argument the Pats have the fourth best duo, but I would say Detroit,
06:45Amon Ross, St. Brown.
06:47I wrote down Detroit.
06:48That was the other team I wrote down.
06:49And Denver, maybe, now that they've got Jalen Waddell.
06:51Depends how you feel about Waddell and Cortland Sutton.
06:55I would put them on par with the Patriots.
06:57But I do think that that's obviously one that's in the conversation.
07:01But to immediately crown the Patriots as having the best receiving core is jumping to conclusions
07:07because we haven't even seen.
07:09Now, is there a possibility that Drake May can turn them into the best receiving?
07:14Absolutely.
07:15Drake May is exactly the kind of guy.
07:16I said this before.
07:17I mean, if you want a receiver that fits perfectly to what Drake May does, AJ Brown is the guy.
07:24And I believe the entire time, that's why they were so locked in on we will give you a first
07:29round pick.
07:30This is exactly what this team needs.
07:32I thought there was a moment yesterday, which was probably the one thing about the trade yesterday that got me
07:37the most excited,
07:39was that when we had Jeremy Fowler from ESPN on, he said, from what he has been hearing,
07:45he thinks the Patriots might not be done.
07:48And he mentioned edge rusher.
07:50Yep.
07:50And that, to me, made my ears perk up because right now it's an A.
07:57You can give this offseason an A for the Patriots.
07:59They've done essentially everything that they could do except for one position, and that is edge rusher,
08:03which seems to be a pretty big hole there.
08:06Like, it is underwhelming what they're offering.
08:11If you are able to go to the Giants or go to Arizona and make some sort of deal, man,
08:18I mean,
08:19now you kind of got to keep going, right?
08:21Your chips are almost all the way in.
08:23Like, you are close to going all the way in.
08:26You better sign Gonzo, right?
08:26I'm assuming they sign Gonzalez.
08:28I'm assuming they get that done.
08:29There's no way they can let him walk.
08:31There's no way they can't, like, sign that deal.
08:34And it will be a record-breaking deal.
08:36It will set the market.
08:38But they're going to have to do it if they want to keep him.
08:40And a little bit of worry now, Vrabel at his press conference today called the injury to Julian Hill,
08:44the tight end, devastating.
08:45Like, they paid up the guy three years, $15 million.
08:47To be the backup tight end.
08:49So that sucks.
08:50Maybe would they look for another tight end to replace him?
08:52I mean, they might actually be back in that market again if they felt it was so important
08:56to get a blocking tight end.
08:57I mean, they're doing a lot this offseason.
08:59Like, this is a busy—if they're going to get an edge rusher, too, psh, psh.
09:03That's great.
09:04I mean, you can't really do much better than they've done.
09:07I mean, just the thought of—even if it's just Drake and A.J. Brown, if they connect
09:11for 1,500 yards or whatever this year.
09:13And I thought Coward made a good point on Fox.
09:15He was just talking about, look how good the running games were wherever A.J. Brown was.
09:20Now, obviously, they had Derrick Henry in Tennessee and Saquon Barkley in Philly.
09:24So some of the premier guys in the league, but A.J. Brown helps to open up the run game
09:29just based on defensive coverages.
09:31And, you know, Ted was speaking about that yesterday.
09:32So I think you could even hope for a better running attack just because A.J. Brown's here.
09:37And then you know what the offense is going to be?
09:38Magical.
