00:00Let's get to an NFL no huddle.
00:03We're going no huddle with the midday show.
00:05No huddle.
00:06The best the NFL has to offer.
00:10All right.
00:11So the news happened yesterday while we were on the air.
00:13We got a chance to react to it in real time.
00:15And now with, you know, about 24 hours of information,
00:19you find out the full scale of the trade that sends Miles Garrett to Los
00:24Angeles.
00:25Jared Verse goes to Cleveland along with the first rounder in 2027.
00:30A second rounder in 2028 and a third rounder in 2029.
00:34The Browns get.
00:34Yeah.
00:35I mean, and ultimately you would have liked to have gotten two first round
00:38picks probably, but Jared Verse is essentially a first round pick.
00:41I was going to say,
00:42do you like these analytics that have like the value of each player as a
00:48pick?
00:48And they're like Jared versus value is of a first round pick.
00:52And now the Browns are like, well,
00:53it's really like two first round picks because that's a thing.
00:56But, but it is, it is.
00:58Because Jared Verse has been a good player.
01:01Well, and the, and the Browns and I had already some,
01:04I need some understanding on this.
01:06The Browns essentially were not going to do this deal unless Jared Verse was
01:09involved.
01:10Okay.
01:11And I, I do wonder if an additional first round pick was offered as
01:16opposed to the player, because certainly the Rams, if they, oh man, absolutely.
01:21You kidding me?
01:21Yeah.
01:21Um, why did the Browns force Jared Verse into this?
01:26Is it about a message to their fan base to some extent?
01:31That's the only thing I can think of.
01:33I don't think they, they, I, hopefully they're not thinking about that.
01:36I think it's because Jared versus a good player.
01:38Yes.
01:38Who's, who's young still.
01:40I think he's going into his fourth year, right?
01:42He'll be going into his fourth year this year, maybe fifth, but I think fourth.
01:45No, no.
01:45He, they'll, they'll have the option to pick up the fifth year.
01:47Yeah.
01:48So, so they can give him a contract.
01:50That's still going to be a lot less than what miles Garrett contract was.
01:53Yes.
01:53And he's a good edge rusher.
01:55Obviously he's not miles Garrett.
01:56I don't think anybody's arguing that.
01:57He's not just a nobody.
01:59No, but he's good.
01:59Yeah.
01:59He's, he's a really good player.
02:00So you get him back.
02:02Who's a young player as you now are.
02:05I don't know how many years away.
02:07Optimistically still a couple, but Jared verse hopefully will be there when you, and I also
02:12just think the argument of first round picks, they lose so much steam for me when the Rams
02:18expectations are NFC title game or Superbowl, like you're picking at 28, 29, 30, 31, 32.
02:27Like that's, that's tough.
02:28You're right.
02:28But still the 29th pick in the NFL draft is still likely to be a really good player.
02:34Sure.
02:34Right.
02:35I mean, we're not talking about like a late round NBA draft pick, you know, or a baseball
02:39draft pick.
02:39That's a total crap shoot.
02:41But yeah, you're right.
02:42I mean, you, you're expecting that those picks are going to be late round picks late in that
02:46round pick.
02:47Like, I, I guess just for comparison, I know we'll kind of talk about this next segment.
02:51If I were the Browns and whatever, whatever, and the Falcons had that offer for a first
02:58round pick that we don't have miles, you know, whatever, right.
03:02We don't have a Jared verse to give them.
03:04But like, obviously our first round pick would seem significantly more valuable than the Rams
03:09because of expectations of the season.
03:11Sure.
03:11The other thing too, is, I mean, just in terms of NFL pick value, the rant or the Browns
03:19will now have two first round picks in the 2027 draft.
03:23One of them probably, like you said, will be at the end.
03:26One of them will likely be at the beginning.
03:28Yeah.
03:28Maybe they sandwich it.
03:29Yeah, exactly.
03:30And you could, you could, they got back to back picks because they could pick first in
03:33the second round too, or that could totally get you from, if say you're bad, but you're
03:37not the worst team in the NFL and you have the fifth pick, the fifth and the 28 might
03:42get you up to second, you know?
03:43Yeah.
03:44So now they have that in their, in their tool bag as well to try to, whether they're trying
03:49to get a quarterback in the next year's draft or whatever.
03:51But yeah, I mean, anytime you trade a player like Myles Garrett, there's always going to
03:55be a conversation about whether you got enough and you never do.
03:58There's no such thing as enough for a guy like that because he's the best player in the
04:02league at one of the most important positions and maybe he's one of the five best ever probably.
04:07Yeah.
04:07I mean, so it's, it's a whole different conversation, but they've had him for nine years and it hasn't
04:13resulted in a ton as far as team success goes.
04:16So we got to try to stack assets and build for the future.
04:20I mentioned yesterday, I was interested in what the odds change was.
04:23The Rams went from seven and a half to one to win the Superbowl to six to one to win
04:27the Superbowl.
04:28So a pretty decent adjustment there.
04:30Yeah.
04:30No, no doubt.
04:31I mean, I get it.
04:33Yeah.
04:34They're stacked, man.
04:36Kind of answering Mike Conte's question that he threw at us in the last segment of like,
04:39how do they keep doing this?
04:40It's because they just have a general manager who's got the, the track record to pull it
04:45off and the guts to like the first time they did it, everybody was like, I don't know.
04:51That's crazy.
04:52Look at all these first round draft picks are giving up, but then they won a Superbowl.
04:55I mean, they, they coined their own phrase about their strategy.
04:58I, um, I think they're, that's how you get away.
05:00Having consistency in the head coaching booth also, because if you can't do this without a
05:05good head coach and there's only a couple of head coaches that I think you could probably
05:09win with just a variety of different quarterbacks or different schemes or whatever, McVay's
05:14one of them.
05:15Yeah.
05:16No, I mean, having the continuity, but also continuity comes from winning games.
05:20Yeah.
05:21Guys don't keep jobs for a long time if they're not good.
05:23Uh, the Eagles also made a trade yesterday.
05:25This right after four o'clock, everybody knew it was going to happen.
05:28The Miles Garrett one surprised me.
05:30The, uh, the AJ Brown one, everyone knew was coming and everyone knew it was going to
05:34be in the new England.
05:35Uh, the Eagles get back at 20, 28, first rounder and a 20, 27, fifth rounder.
05:40And AJ Brown's got to go take a physical.
05:42I know there's always a physical involved, but there's some speculation about where he's
05:46at health wise.
05:47So I think the physical happens later on today before that actually becomes official, but
05:52everybody has had plenty of time to react to this one because we all had, had heard the
05:56rumors it was going to happen.
05:58That's a smart move for both parties.
05:59It's like, clearly it had gone sour in Philadelphia.
06:03The rumor now or the report now is that he asked for a trade after week four last year
06:07when they were four and O.
06:09Um, and Mike Vrabel loves him from their time together in Tennessee and the Raiders, sorry,
06:14the Patriots desperately need a receiver.
06:16So it makes sense.
06:17Uh, AJ Brown house past his physical is expected to participate in practice today.
06:21And yeah, um, very interesting.
06:23The relationship stuff in, in regards to, uh, him and Vrabel and hopefully time hasn't
06:28changed that because we've seen what a sour AJ Brown looks like, feels like.
06:34I ask you this question though, because obviously we talked about the Rams and the all in move
06:39for miles Garrett.
06:39Garrett, that's a team in the Patriots that went to the Superbowl a year ago that didn't
06:45have enough receivers to win the Superbowl.
06:48I understand this is part of the reason.
06:50Yeah.
06:51Right.
06:51Right.
06:51This is not up to that level of miles Garrett.
06:55I don't view it that way, but it's not insignificant in terms of a team that probably could be contending
07:01trying to, to return.
07:03Yeah, no, it's a, it's a smart move for a team that was close to address one of their biggest
07:08needs and, and try to go back to it next year.
07:11I don't, I don't buy them as that right now.
07:16I think a lot of things broke in their favor last year.
07:19Yeah.
07:19I think they got a really quarterbacks, including in the AFC title game.
07:22They got a really favorable path in the playoffs.
07:25I also, you know, I, I, I, I buy a lot of the talent that they have for sure.
07:30And I think Vrabel is an incredible coach.
07:31I just think they kind of overachieved last year.
07:35They had a really easy schedule because of what they had been the year before.
07:38Uh, and then, like you said, a lot of stuff broke for them in the playoffs.
07:41I still think they'll be good, but do you believe in the Superbowl hangover stuff too?
07:45Absolutely.
07:45Okay.
07:46Cause I, they, they got to deal with that as well.
07:47And again, I, not so much because we lost the Superbowl and now we're like moat mouth
07:52all year.
07:52It's because it's really hard to get to the Superbowl.
07:55Yeah.
07:55A lot of stuff changes and it's really hard to get back.
07:59So, but yeah, I mean, it's verifiable.
08:02And then the obvious distractions with the head coach.
08:04I just don't think that's going to happen.
08:05I don't think that matters.
08:06Like I, um, I don't, I don't, I don't think when they're out there in training camp, when
08:10the season starts, they're going to be lining up like, oh yeah, remember our coach was on
08:15a boat with Diana.
08:16I don't think it matters for the players.
08:17I wonder if it matters for him depending on where it heads.
08:20I don't think so.
08:21I think the best thing for him is to get back to the football season.
08:25Yeah.
08:26Yeah.
08:27Yeah.
08:28The, the different grind.
08:29Well, I was thinking about how we want to work that in there, but all right.
08:32Yeah.
08:33That seems to have sort of quieted down a little bit as well, which is good.
08:36I still think TMZ's got extra stuff they're going to drop at some point.
08:38Because ultimately it's none of our business.
