00:18this youtube drama i don't know it's not really drama with any particular youtuber or anything
00:24like that it's just like a general comment that i wanted to make but if you're just here for the
00:28gaming stuff head over to the channel there's a bunch of videos there okay with that out of the
00:33way let's get into the rant here so you might have heard some of the recent controversy with this
00:38uh it was an italian news station that claimed a bunch of nvidia videos well really what's being
00:45reported is that they claimed nvidia's video itself like the promotional video that nvidia put on their
00:52channel this news station actually claimed their video and had it taken down for a little while
00:58and this was all regarding the announced dlss 5 that nvidia had basically announced as their new
01:06product i guess this italian news station had used some of the footage from that promotional video and
01:14so then they just auto claimed nvidia's video along with a bunch of others and the reason i'm talking
01:20about it today is even my channel my tiny channel here i did a video on dlss 5 and the
01:27nvidia
01:28controversy essentially and even my video was claimed by this italian news station so what ended up
01:35happening is it was just a copyright claim it wasn't a strike so if you get three strikes then they
01:41basically take your channel away but it wasn't that it was a claim on a video anyway my video itself
01:47was
01:47blocked um it couldn't be viewed by anyone and for a tiny channel like mine obviously it's not like
01:54my review videos that i put a lot of work into but still i put some time into it and
02:00anything like
02:01that really does have some effect on the channel itself so i ended up disputing it i guess a bunch
02:07of people disputed it probably anyone who had uploaded anything because clearly this news station did
02:13not own nvidia's promotional material that's absurd but with all that said that's not even the issue that i have
02:21right now it's not that my video was claimed it's not anything to do with that well it is to
02:27do with
02:27that but there's something bigger here that i think needs to be said i know a lot of other youtubers
02:33talk
02:34about this and even though my channel is quite small relative to theirs i just wanted to add my voice
02:40to
02:40this hopefully youtube hears not me in particular but just the overall attitude or opinion about this
02:48so what i think the problem is is these auto claiming or bot claiming whatever you want to call
02:56it basically these automatic video claims that happen by larger channels now it's a problem for
03:04everyone but i do think it disproportionately affects smaller youtubers or at least small youtube channels
03:11i don't really consider myself a youtuber i have a small youtube channel but i'm not like someone that
03:16people know i'm not a youtuber right i'm just a random dude who makes some youtube videos that said
03:22when these big companies or larger channels have these automatic claims it's going to target the small
03:29channels particularly hard in this last example that i'm talking about this nvidia thing obviously
03:35they went after nvidia who's a lot bigger than them so that's not always going to be the case but
03:41i would
03:41say in a more typical case it does affect the smaller channels more i've had a couple of my videos
03:47claimed i've disputed them in one there's only been one that i left because i didn't really know
03:54well i don't think i'm in the right there it's not something that i intentionally did basically i did a
03:59clip or i had a video where i used some footage from far cry and it turns out that far
04:05cry doesn't own
04:06all of the music in their games it's not all original soundtrack stuff some of it's owned by
04:12other people or they put other known songs into their games and so i just wasn't thinking and i
04:20used a clip that happened to have a song that wasn't part of their original soundtrack so i never disputed
04:26that one because yeah whatever i i didn't own the song that's fine but in general a lot of times
04:32these companies they'll use whatever maybe it's footage from a video game and they do a news segment
04:38on a video game they use some footage uh maybe from a trailer and then if i happen to use
04:44that same
04:44little clip of footage then my video will get claimed and i think it's ridiculous like i don't think this
04:52should be allowed or at least if they're gonna have this auto claiming system it needs to be done with
04:59the understanding that there's serious consequences or ramifications if you get it wrong so as of right
05:06now if you're a large channel and you claim or you do these auto claims and they're an error there's
05:12really no penalty for it if a smaller channel does it then there's serious consequences but for a large
05:19channel that just has these bots going around claiming videos there's no problem there's no consequence
05:25there's no ramification it doesn't matter and when it is done in error and you dispute it they have 30
05:32days to actually act on that so what can happen is your video gets claimed and then they just sit
05:37on it
05:38for 30 days and they just don't do anything then at the end of the 30 days if they didn't
05:42do anything
05:43your channel or your video gets released and then it goes back to being normal right like it can be
05:49monetized if it was monetized for my particular video that i had that dlss5 video it was totally
05:55blocked so it's not even that it wasn't monetized it was just totally blocked nobody could even see
06:01the video but if that happens and they just don't do anything and it goes through the 30 days and
06:07they
06:07don't act on it then it just gets released and then it would be unblocked now obviously for the most
06:12part they don't wait those 30 days they usually either are gonna fight your dispute or just release
06:19the video but not always like some of these are quite large channels and i guess they probably get
06:23a lot of these disputes that they're going through and i think that's just absurd i don't see how that
06:29should be allowed if they're making these mistakes all the time they should be held or they should be
06:34accountable to this it should really be the same rules apply to everyone as a blanket so if you have
06:42three false claims your channel should get either a demonetized or b i guess if you keep doing it then
06:51they should just take your channel away and i don't care if it's some italian news station or if
06:56it's anyone like if you're doing this consistently then you're causing a problem for many other people
07:02do i expect that my video is actually going to be heard by anyone and have it make a difference

07:07absolutely not but like i said a lot of people are talking about this i'm just trying to add my

07:12to it i would love to see this kind of thing just stop but it's probably not going to anytime

08:17i've been thinking
08:17about playing around with that maybe adding some other things so we'll see for now it's basically just
