00:02Hi, I'm Sophie, I'm Gardens Editor at Ideal Home. I'm at the Chelsea Flower Show today and we're
00:07going to be looking at the top trends that we've spotted and how we can translate those into our
00:10own garden selves. Naturalistic planting is probably the biggest trend that I've spotted
00:14here this year. There's lots and lots of gardens, we're embracing the wild look in their gardens,
00:19so lots of wild planting, lots of grasses, lots of wildflowers and also lots of brown
00:24cover flowers that kind of take over borders rather than manicure them like we've seen in
00:29previous years. It's actually really easy to get the naturalistic look at home and you can literally
00:34sprinkle some wildflower seeds down and just let them grow wild. Cornflowers are my favourites but
00:39you can buy so many nice seed mixes that include lots of native flower and plants from the UK.
00:44We've also spotted a lot of rich fold tones this year, so lots of oranges, yellows, deep purples.
00:50As we achieve this at home, focus on the season so we can plant things that have orange foliage
00:55in the autumn for example. We can also plant things that kind of stand throughout the winter,
00:59so lots of ornamental grasses and things like that. There's also a huge focus on wildlife this year
01:04and how we can share our spaces with wildlife. So we can plant wildlife friendly varieties and we can
01:09plant things that produce seeds that birds will eat. We can also you know focus on the bees,
01:14the butterflies, what's really going to bring those into our gardens.
