00:00Garden roses are having a wonderful season this year and I want to show you how you can bring
00:05them into your home by creating a relaxed floral design that really puts these gorgeous blooms
00:10in the spotlight. So for this I'm using a low bowl, this is a vintage vessel which I have filled
00:21with chicken wire. I've got a good pair of floristry scissors and a beautiful selection,
00:26lots of different colours of garden roses. The only mechanic that we need for this is some
00:31chicken wire which I have wedged a little pillow inside and that is what will give all your stems
00:37the structure so it stops your roses from just flopping to either side. We'll just fill this
00:42with some clean water. I'm going to begin using a few little shrub roses and we just want to snip
00:50off some of these lower leaves. We'll just place a few of these in and I think I'm going to
00:54leave
00:55some of the foliage on here just as a little additional detail kind of breaks up the line
01:01of the vase there and then I want to start putting some of these really large rose heads. I've got
01:06some gorgeous buds on this one as well. We never want any leaves below the water line. This is a
01:12rather beautiful one. I know you can't smell it but it's really heavily perfumed this one. When you're
01:18placing in we definitely don't want to pack them too tightly. I think for an arrangement like this
01:23we need each rose to have a little bit of room to breathe so that you can appreciate every single
01:29one individually. Now this is going to be seen from all angles because it's going to be on a dining
01:35table so I need to make sure it looks good from every side. One thing I really love about using
01:40garden roses is not just their scent but their range of forms. You've got these really tight little buds and
01:46then super blousy open flowers and it just gives an arrangement like this so much more depth and
01:53interest. This design really isn't about perfection. It's about creating something that feels like it
01:59that you could have been gathered from your garden on a warm summer morning.
