Confusion is growing over Washington's Iran policy after President Donald Trump suggested the U.S. naval blockade linked to the Strait of Hormuz was being lifted as peace talks with Tehran advance. Trump described the move as part of efforts to secure a broader agreement, expressing optimism that a final deal could be reached soon. He reiterated demands that Iran permanently abandon any path to a nuclear weapon and keep the vital waterway open without restrictions or transit fees. However, U.S. Central Command later indicated military restrictions remain in effect, creating uncertainty over whether policy has changed or enforcement continues.

00:25A major contradiction at
00:28the heart of Washington's Iran policy is raising fresh questions.
00:33Did President Donald Trump just announce the end of America's naval blockade on Iran,
00:38or is the blockade still very much in force?
00:42The confusion erupted after Trump declared that the Strait of Hormuz blockade was being
00:47lifted as part of rapidly advancing negotiations with Tehran.
00:52Now, but maybe not a great deal, and if it's not a great deal, then I'm making it.
00:56Because we can make a great deal with this guy right here, but it's a lot nastier, probably
01:03wouldn't go as quickly, wouldn't be talking about as quickly, but it would be foolproof.
01:10But I think we're doing very well, Steve, I think we're doing pretty well in terms of
01:14the negotiation, but we'll see.
01:15If it's not going to be a real deal, because Obama had that horrible JCPOA, whatever it
01:22was, it was the worst deal.
01:24It was a path for Iran to have a nuclear weapon very quickly.
01:29Years ago they would have had a nuclear weapon.
01:31We might not be here talking about it right now.
01:34They would have had a nuclear weapon.
01:37The announcement came as US and Iranian negotiators continue working toward a broader agreement
01:43to end months of conflict and transform a fragile ceasefire into a permanent peace deal.
01:49Posting on social media, Trump signaled optimism, saying a final decision on an agreement could
01:55come soon.
01:56He insisted Iran must permanently abandon any path to a nuclear weapon, and he demanded that
02:03the Strait of Hormuz remain open, with unrestricted passage and no transit tools.
02:08Then came the headline-grabbing declaration.
02:12Trump announced that vessels trapped by what he described as his amazing and unprecedented
02:18naval blockade could now begin heading home.
02:21It appeared to be a major concession, a possible breakthrough, and perhaps the clearest sign
02:28yet that diplomacy was gaining momentum.
02:30But within hours, another message emerged, one that painted a very different picture.
02:36U.S. Central Command, the military command overseeing operations in the region, stated that American
02:43forces continue to enforce restrictions against Iran.
02:47According to CENTCOM, more than 115 commercial vessels have been redirected to prevent commerce
02:53from entering or leaving Iranian ports.
02:56The statement suggested that operationally, the blockade remains active.
03:01CENTCOM also emphasized that American forces remain deployed and vigilant across the Middle
03:07East.
03:07The apparent contradiction has fueled speculation over whether the administration is divided
03:13internally or whether negotiations remain too fluid for a final policy shift.
03:19Meanwhile, Iran quickly rejected Trump's characterization of the talks.
03:23Iranian officials insisted that negotiations are still ongoing and that no final agreement
03:30has been reached.
03:31Foreign ministry spokesman Ismail Bagatehoni dismissed Trump's demands outright, saying
03:37Tehran abandoned the language of must decades ago.
03:41Bagatehoni accused Washington of imposing illegal maritime restrictions and argued that only actions,
03:48not words, would determine the future of the ceasefire.
03:51Iran's parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher-Galaba, also expressed deep skepticism, warning that
03:58Tehran does not trust American guarantees and would judge the United States solely by what
04:04happens on the ground.
04:05At the center of the negotiations remain several major disputes, the future of the Strait of
04:11Hormuz, Iran's nuclear activities, sanctions relief, and the broader security architecture
04:17of the Gulf region.
04:18For now, both sides claim progress, both sides claim commitment to diplomacy, yet the blockade
04:25itself appears caught between political declarations and military reality.
04:30And until those two align, the path to peace remains uncertain.
