00:00outside the chambers to lead to the walkout. Here's what happened when our cameras caught
00:03up with the opposition outside the Red House. Opposition leader Penelope Beckles questioned
00:08what government is afraid of. She reminds the public that the opposition gave up last week's
00:17Private Members Day when government wanted to use it to pass the fat if and other sensitive
00:21legislation. Because Private Members Day is only once for the month. That's the only day
00:29that you are allowed as the opposition to have a motion and to be able to debate that motion and
00:34here it is. It's not even six o'clock but it's obvious to me that was premeditated. They came
00:41with the intention to do precisely that and if they feel that they could muzzle the opposition
00:47we want them to know they cannot muzzle the opposition. We are going to meet in caucus
00:51because it's an exceptionally serious matter and we will decide the way forward. Opposition Chief
00:57Web Marvin Gonzalez says it's time to push back on what he termed the wicked government.
01:05Hitting the streets and letting our voices be heard against this wicked brutal dictatorship that we
01:11have as a government in Portospin. Enough is enough and it is time to push back against them because
01:18when you can shut down an opposition utilizing your your majority invoking the standing orders in a
01:26clear abuse of process in the way that we are seeing today it is time to see enough is enough
01:32and push
01:33back against all of them within the confines of the law. Addressing the matter after having walked out
01:39Portospin South MP Keith Scotland says what occurred within the confines of the Parliament was undemocratic.
01:47If you really internalize what has happened they have literally shut down democracy in Trina and
01:54Tobago as we know it and for what reason because what was going to come out in this debate made
02:03them
02:03uncomfortable because they if the facts cannot be rewritten and their performance in the last 10
02:11months has been dismal. While Diego Martin Northeast MP com imbert voiced his disapproval of the Speaker's ruling.
02:21Four opposition MPs spoke. Gadsby Dolly, Romain, Marcel and Dino Briga. Four. There are 13 of us. So it means
02:32that nine of us
02:34clearly according to the government had nothing to say. And you saw how detailed that motion was. So that is
02:42what
02:42Muniland said. This thing is a waste of time. No point in talking about it anymore. Put it to the
02:47vote and then they use a majority. Okay. And as
02:51Mr. Scotland has said, Muniland had just finished saying, trying to compare what happened at Karani and what happened at
03:00Petrotrin with what was done with the CPEC workers.
03:04That takes us to our people meter. We asked, do you support the opposition's walkout from the parliament this afternoon?
03:12To vote, text yes or no to the number 766-4886 or 766-4TV6 and we'll have the results for
03:20you at the end of the newscast.
