00:00Friendly reminder, Shohei Otani is the most special athlete in the history of North American
00:06professional team sports.
00:08Wow!
00:09And a friendly reminder, the Dodgers are the World Series favorites.
00:14But with a return to greatness for Garrett Cole, are the Yankees the biggest threat to
00:21knock off the two-time defending champs.
00:23Monster Game 6 in the Western Conference in the NBA tonight, with the Knicks waiting for
00:29the winner.
00:30Monica McNutt joins us to talk about the Juggernaut Knicks.
00:34Shine Time starts right now.
00:45I need you to think about this.
00:47Because when you see something in sports you've never seen before, it needs to be validated
00:53and celebrated and honored.
00:55Shohei Otani last night hit a leadoff home run.
00:59First at-bats that he had in the game, he went yard.
01:04And in the same game, he was on the mound, and he had six no-hit innings.
01:10Just think about this for a second.
01:13Look what's on your screen.
01:15Six innings pitched, zero hits, seven strikeouts, and he hit a solo home run in the first inning.
01:27Never sleep on this.
01:30Never sleep on this.
01:31This, right here, not normal.
01:33It is unbelievable.
01:35It is unbelievable.
01:36And it's kind of crazy to consider that before Shohei Otani was playing in Major League Baseball,
01:43there was not a player in the history of this grand old game that's ever, as a starting pitcher,
01:52hit a leadoff home run.
01:54Otani has done it three times.
01:58His ERA on the season is 0.82.
02:02The Dodgers, led by Otani, took a no-hitter into the eighth inning.
02:09It is unbelievable.
02:11Look at this.
02:120.82 ERA.
02:16The ninth lowest ERA entering June in 100 years.
02:25It's incredible.
02:26What Otani's done on the bump this year, you can tell it's a singular focus on,
02:34I'm going to show you, I'm going to win the Cy Young.
02:38And Sanchez has been amazing for Philadelphia.
02:41And the Miz has been out of this world for Milwaukee.
02:44And obviously, skeins his skates.
02:47But what Otani's done on the mound, in conjunction with how he's been able to hit,
02:53and remember when Shohei Otani was in a slump at the plate,
02:59and he needed a couple of days off just from batting?
03:03Listen, the ability to lock in and pitch like this, and hit like this,
03:08and the ability to go yard, to start games when he's on the mound,
03:13and have that kind of intensity, it's unbelievable.
03:16I had a great conversation today with the legendary John Smoltz,
03:20the Hall of Famer, on my SiriusXM radio show.
03:22And if you remember, Smoltz took some heats when he, four or five years ago,
03:28said that Shohei Otani is a better pitcher than hitter.
03:32And he took a victory lap with me today.
03:34And he's right.
03:35And it's crazy.
03:36And Otani's already out of this world.
03:39He is the greatest talent in the history of Major League Baseball.
03:42And the fact that Otani has this focus on being this dominant pitcher and winning a Cy Young,
03:48he talked to the press after the game last night how disappointed he was that he walked four batters.
03:57He thought he hurt the team.
04:00And I reference the slump at the play.
04:03Since the slump over the last 13 games,
04:07slash line for Otani,
04:09383-508-723.
04:12Putting up Ruthian, Babe Ruth numbers at the dish,
04:16while obviously continuing to dominate as a starting pitcher.
04:20I just need to stress this, because it's out of this world.
04:24The 082 ERA.
04:27It is incredible.
04:28It is special.
04:29It is sensational.
04:31And here's the beauty.
04:33And Magic Johnson has always talked about this.
04:35And no one would know better than Magic.
04:37In terms of his work ethic,
04:40Otani's Kobe Bryant,
04:41that's who he is in terms of being,
04:43I'm going to kick your ass and I'm going to let you know about it.
04:47And there's this culture,
04:48this accountability that came with Kobe,
04:50and it comes with Shohei Otani.
04:52And that's why,
04:53if you want to stress any kind of negative on Los Angeles,
04:57with questions or injuries or age,
05:00or Teoscar Hernandez getting hurt last night,
05:04or Blake Snell not being healthy,
05:06or Glasnow not being healthy,
05:08or Edwin Diaz not being healthy,
05:10it's nonsense.
05:12Because Shohei Otani won't let this team fail.
05:17And it's one thing for Kobe Bryant to do that
05:19in a five-on-five sports,
05:22where there are 12 guys on a team.
05:24It's one thing for a quarterback to do that,
05:27in terms of an impact.
05:28You have never seen in the history of baseball
05:31one singular player make this kind of difference
05:36in terms of everything.
05:38Obviously a pitcher, a hitter, the clubhouse, the locker room, accountability.
05:43I mean, it's nine guys on a diamond, 25 guys on a team,
05:49and Shohei Otani is doing it again.
05:52Like, this needs to be stressed in terms of the history of sports.
05:57And that's why,
05:58when you have the ability of your Shohei Otani to do this
06:01on a night-in-night-out basis,
06:03and his athleticism and the mental fortitude
06:07to go out there and hit and run and pitch
06:11and go through the motions and mechanics between starts
06:15to study film and study the opposition's lineup
06:19and to go out there and have that kind of energy
06:22and adrenaline for pitching
06:25and to hit a home run simultaneously,
06:28look, there will eventually be a shelf life
06:31on how long he can do this.
06:32I'm not going to be the guy who tells Otani that.
06:34It's never been done before in the history of the game.
06:36I don't even feel compelled to say,
06:38well, Babe Ruth never did this,
06:39because you either know or you don't know.
06:40No one has ever done this at this level
06:43in the history of baseball.
06:44That's why this needs to be recognized.
06:47And when you start talking about
06:48why the Dodgers are going to be the Dodgers,
06:50it's because this cat is a freak.
06:53He's Babe Ruth, he's Cy Young,
06:56he's Paul Bunyan, all rolled into one.
07:00Unprecedented greatness.
07:01I can't get enough.
07:03And then, of course, in the American League,
07:05where the Yankees' biggest gun
07:06was firing off bullets last night,
07:08and Aaron Boone was nothing but smiles after the game.
07:12I feel like maybe the first game
07:14was a little appetizer,
07:15and that was the main course right there.
07:18That was surgical, command.
07:22You saw everything, too, like good fastball,
07:26both breaking balls going,
07:28mixed in the cutter a little bit,
07:29mixed in some really good change-ups along the way.
07:32You know, there were some good defensive plays
07:34behind him early,
07:35and then he kind of cruised from there.
07:38That is the absolute perfect soundbite
07:41from Aaron Boone to describe.
07:43What we saw with Garrett Cole's first start
07:46coming back, Tommy John surgery,
07:48didn't pitch in 2025,
07:50didn't pitch for the first six, seven, eight weeks in 2026.
07:55He was terrific.
07:57Not vintage against Tampa Bay.
08:00That was vintage Garrett Cole.
08:02Like, that is it,
08:04where he had swing and miss stuff
08:06last night against Kansas City.
08:08Look at that strikeout-to-walk ratio.
08:12Ten strikeouts, zero walks.
08:14That is vintage.
08:15My mount, I'm going to kick your ass,
08:18and I'm going to let you know about it.
08:20As a Yankee fan last night,
08:22I couldn't stop smiling.
08:24That is Garrett Cole.
08:26We haven't seen that
08:28since we're talking about the 2024 season.
08:32So, to see that last night,
08:35that was everything.
08:36That was exactly what we needed to see
08:38from Garrett Cole.
08:40And look,
08:40when you start talking about Garrett Cole,
08:43on the heels of,
08:45huh,
08:46what Cam Schlittler's doing,
08:48and Schlittler,
08:49I mean,
08:50it's not a hot take
08:51or a controversial take
08:53when you say
08:53he should start the All-Star game.
08:56Cam Schlittler
08:57is the most intoxicating young pitcher
09:00in the American League,
09:01maybe in baseball,
09:02with all due respect to the Miz.
09:04I mean, Schlittler,
09:05you don't have to wonder aloud
09:06if he can do it in the playoffs.
09:08He did it last year
09:09against his hometown team,
09:10the Yankee rival,
09:11the Big Bad Boston Red Sox.
09:14Now you can start dreaming
09:15a little bit here, right?
09:17Now you can see it.
09:18Now you see Schlittler
09:20into Cole.
09:21You look at Freed.
09:22Rodon is a four-starter.
09:24And you start thinking about
09:25the New York Yankees
09:27being the team
09:28that can absolutely beat
09:30the L.A. Dodgers
09:31and ultimately win
09:33the World Series.
09:34Now this raises the bar here
09:36in terms of Brian Cashman
09:38going out and getting bullpen help.
09:40Because when you have this
09:42this soon from Garrett Cole,
09:44you win in October
09:46with pitching,
09:47pitching, defense,
09:48timely hitting.
09:49That,
09:49that was awesome.
09:51That was everything.
09:53That was exactly
09:54what Yankees fans
09:55baseball fans
09:56needed to see.
09:58That's what Brian Cashman
09:59needed to see.
10:00Because once you see
10:02Cole like that,
10:03I mean,
10:04you can start
10:05dreaming about
10:07ultimately
10:07playoff baseball,
10:10World Series baseball
10:12back in the Bronx.
10:14Oof.
10:15That was sweet last night.
10:17I mean,
10:17Cole on the Mountain
10:18Friday night was awesome.
10:19This,
10:20this was amazing.
10:23So,
10:24which pitcher
10:24would you rather have
10:25on the Mounts,
10:27Game 7 this season,
10:29or in the proverbial game
10:31for your life?
10:33Shohei Ohtani
10:34or Garrett Cole?
10:36So,
10:37this to me
10:38is important.
10:40Career postseason stats.
10:43And obviously,
10:45there's a better,
10:47greater body of work
10:49when it comes to
10:50Garrett Cole.
10:51And Garrett Cole
10:53is the answer
10:54to the question.
10:55If you,
10:56and I'm sitting here
10:57waxing poetic,
10:58raving about Ohtani,
11:00talking about
11:00John Smoltz
11:01saying he's ever seen
11:02an athlete on the mound
11:04with this kind of
11:04mental fortitude,
11:05and Ohtani
11:06could have even more,
11:08right?
11:08And I also,
11:09for the sake of this
11:10conversation,
11:11want to acknowledge this.
11:12I'm not Aaron Boone
11:14nor am I Dave Roberts.
11:15And the Game 7 starter
11:18for both of these teams
11:19might not even be pictured
11:21or part of this question.
11:23It could be Schlittler
11:24and it could be Yamamoto.
11:27I'm at least acknowledging
11:29that for the sake
11:30of conversation.
11:31But that's not sexy
11:32on the heels of last night.
11:34It's Ohtani
11:35and Garrett Cole.
11:36And the answer
11:38is Garrett Cole.
11:39And this is why
11:41the New York Yankees
11:42have a golden opportunity
11:44to win the World Series.
11:46Dodgers over the Yankees,
11:48that was my preseason pick
11:50for the World Series.
11:51That is my pick
11:52for the World Series.
11:53But now,
11:54if you're a Yankee fan
11:55and you start talking
11:57about Game 7,
11:59now you have your guy.
12:00Now you have your ace.
12:01Now you have your horse.
12:02Now you have the guy
12:04who at the end of the day,
12:05this is the cat
12:06you want on the pump.
12:07Because seeing that last night,
12:09that's the guy
12:10that sees Shohei
12:11on the other side.
12:13I always hate
12:14when pitchers
12:14or quarterbacks,
12:16they like to say,
12:17oh, I'm not facing
12:18the opposing pitcher.
12:19I'm not facing
12:21the opposing quarterback.
12:22Nonsense.
12:23This is why
12:24one of my favorite interviews
12:24in all sports
12:25is Aaron Rodgers.
12:26Because Rodgers
12:27is one of those rare guys
12:28who will say,
12:29yeah, I'm facing
12:31Tom Brady
12:32in a big spot.
12:33That,
12:34you have to outscore.
12:35You have to be perfect.
12:36You have to think about
12:37who the opposing quarterback is
12:39when it comes to play calling
12:40and execution
12:41on a third down
12:42in the second quarter.
12:43That matters.
12:45Garrett Cole,
12:45Shohei Ohtani,
12:47Cole with his mentality,
12:48you always know
12:50you're going to get
12:50that kind of ace,
12:51that bulldog.
12:52Those numbers
12:53that we just showed you
12:54of what Cole does
12:55in the playoffs,
12:56man, that's who he is.
12:57That's what he does.
12:59And look,
13:01Ohtani wants
13:02to be that Game 7 guy.
13:05Ohtani wants
13:06to be the guy
13:06where Dave Roberts
13:07looks at the rotation options.
13:09By the way,
13:09Blake Snell has pitched
13:10great in the playoffs.
13:11Glass now,
13:12unbelievable stuff.
13:13Yamamoto would be
13:14the choice,
13:15I would believe,
13:16right now
13:16when it comes to
13:17who the Dodgers
13:18would pitch
13:18in a hypothetical
13:20Game 7.
13:21But the way
13:21Ohtani's pitching,
13:22the answer is Ohtani
13:23right now.
13:23So you see the comparison?
13:25It's not a comparison.
13:26Give me Garrett Cole.
13:28Give me Garrett Cole
13:30over Shohei Ohtani
13:32today, tomorrow,
13:34Game 7,
13:36life on the line.
13:37I want Garrett Cole
13:39on the mound.
13:40And that's what
13:41the Yankees have back.
13:43That's what the Yankees
13:44have been missing.
13:45And as much fun as it was
13:47to see him pitch on Friday,
13:49this was it.
13:49As unicorn-esque,
13:52as special,
13:53as freakish
13:53as Ohtani was
13:55and what transpired
13:57last night,
13:57six no-hit innings
13:58and he was able
13:59to hit a home run.
14:00The biggest story
14:02in baseball
14:03was Garrett Cole.
14:05What Garrett Cole did
14:07because this sparked
14:08this question
14:09and this is what
14:10and Cole is the answer
14:12and that's the difference
14:14between the Yankees
14:15being a really good team,
14:17a runner-up
14:18for a championship,
14:19when Garrett Cole
14:21is back to being
14:21that guy,
14:22that dude,
14:23that guy
14:24who can be better
14:24than Shohei Ohtani
14:25and you know it,
14:27you believe it,
14:28you've seen it before
14:29and you saw it last night.
14:31And listen,
14:33Ohtani walked four guys.
14:35We're just splitting hairs
14:35on who was better
14:36last night on the mound.
14:37The answer is Garrett Cole.
14:38It's Garrett Cole.
14:40It's always Garrett Cole.
14:42And that's why Yankees fans
14:44are fired up today.
14:46That was a monster,
14:49monster deal.
14:50It is the first Thursday
14:52day after Memorial Day.
14:55And this is the point
14:56of the MLB season
14:57where you can take
14:57a true stock of your team.
14:59First time you can truly
15:01look at the standings page
15:03in the New York Post
15:04and the California Post
15:05and make a true judgment
15:07and also simultaneously,
15:09appropriately,
15:09look into the crystal ball.
15:11So, in that spirit,
15:14we present to you
15:15our first annual
15:17Shine 9 Baseball Fit Check.
15:28The best story in baseball,
15:30the Atlanta Braves.
15:32I want to make sure
15:33we give the Atlanta Braves
15:35their due.
15:3737 and 19.
15:39And the way the Atlanta Braves
15:41were able to take care of business,
15:42a couple of weeks ago
15:43in L.A.
15:44We made a big deal
15:45about that series.
15:46We had Dylan Hernandez
15:47from the California Post
15:48on Shine Time.
15:49It's incredible.
15:51And they won that series.
15:52And Atlanta, I think,
15:54has another gear
15:56attached to them.
15:57I don't think there's
15:57any question about that.
15:59When you take a look
16:00at Strider
16:01and if he hits his stride
16:03down the stretch
16:04of the season,
16:05Acuna obviously
16:05has to stay healthy.
16:07But this team
16:08is not a fluke
16:09in any way, shape, or form.
16:10Best story
16:12in the first
16:12eight weeks
16:13of the baseball season.
16:15And I subscribe
16:15to this, right?
16:16The first time
16:17you check
16:18to see the standings
16:20in Major League Baseball,
16:22the week
16:23after Memorial Day.
16:25And I think
16:26the Braves
16:26have staying power.
16:27I absolutely believe that.
16:29Walt Weiss,
16:30Manager of the Year
16:30in the National League.
16:32No question about that.
16:33Sales still pitching
16:34like an ace.
16:35I think Olsen,
16:35you can make a case for him.
16:37Matty Olsen
16:37as the leader
16:38in the clubhouse
16:39for the MVP
16:40in the National League.
16:41I think the best story
16:43in baseball,
16:44the Atlanta Braves.
16:45Number two,
16:46no one's been the Dodgers.
16:48Think about
16:49all the issues
16:50in L.A.
16:51Things we've talked about
16:52night in, night out,
16:54day in, day out
16:54on Chinetime.
16:55The injuries,
16:57the slumps.
16:58Mookie was hurt
16:58for a significant
16:59period of time.
17:00Freddie Freeman
17:01was in a funk.
17:02Shohei had that
17:03time frame
17:04where he couldn't
17:05hit with any kind
17:06of authority.
17:07The power numbers
17:07were down.
17:09Everybody's hurt.
17:09It's like R.E.M.
17:10was singing about
17:11the Dodgers rotation
17:12and they're pitching.
17:13Diaz is out.
17:14And obviously,
17:16Glasnow and Snell.
17:17And the L.A. Dodgers
17:19are in first place
17:20in the NL West.
17:22The Dodgers
17:23have a run differential
17:24of plus 162,
17:26the best
17:26in the National League.
17:28The L.A. Dodgers
17:29have a brilliant manager.
17:30They have Shohei Ohtani
17:31who's not going
17:32to let him down.
17:33No one is going
17:34to beat the L.A. Dodgers.
17:35If you're going
17:36to grade on a curve
17:37and you grade him,
17:38let's say,
17:39as a B-plus
17:40right now
17:41when you check
17:41the standings page
17:42for the first time,
17:43it means it's going
17:44to eventually be
17:45an A, A-minus, A-plus.
17:47I do think it's important
17:48for Los Angeles
17:49to ultimately get,
17:51you don't need necessarily
17:52the one seed,
17:53but a buy,
17:54not one or two,
17:55because they are
17:56a little bit long
17:57in the tooth
17:57and I think that
17:58that matters
17:58in terms of injuries.
18:00But the Dodgers,
18:01what an unbelievable
18:02start to the season.
18:03Even when they were
18:04scuffling a little bit,
18:05just absolutely
18:06off the charts.
18:08Number three,
18:09obsessed with the NL Central.
18:10Still like the Pirates
18:11to win it,
18:12but how about the fact
18:13that every single team
18:14in this division
18:14is above .500?
18:15This is so much fun
18:16to watch and I love
18:17watching the Reds
18:18and I love watching
18:19the Cardinals
18:20and their ability
18:21to overachieve.
18:22The only team
18:23that I think doesn't
18:23have staying power
18:24is St. Louis.
18:25How about the Cubbies?
18:26They've had a 10-game
18:27winning streak,
18:2810-game losing streak.
18:29I still think
18:30with Skeens,
18:31Pirates,
18:32absolutely the team
18:34to beat.
18:34But the Milwaukee Brewers,
18:36listen,
18:37they keep making me
18:39look like a horse's ass.
18:40They just do.
18:42Miz is unbelievable.
18:43They're a pitching factory.
18:44Patty Murphy's unbelievable.
18:46He would be number two
18:47behind Walt Weiss
18:48to me for the National League
18:49Manager of the Year.
18:50It's an honor.
18:51The Brewers with Miz,
18:54that's a team
18:54in a short series
18:55that can give
18:56Los Angeles some fits.
18:57I am all in here
18:59on the NL Central.
19:01This division's unbelievable.
19:03I hope they get
19:03two, three teams in.
19:05I think that they will
19:06eventually.
19:06And I'm still picking
19:08the Pittsburgh Pirates
19:09as the team
19:11that will eventually,
19:11they're last right now,
19:12eventually win this division.
19:14Number four,
19:15don't sleep with the Phillies.
19:1629 and 27.
19:1720 and 8
19:18under Don Mattingly.
19:19Give Dave Dombrowski
19:20a lot of credit.
19:21He fired Rob Thompson.
19:23This is something
19:23at the end of the day
19:24that the Mets
19:25should have done
19:25with Carlos Mendoza.
19:27David Stearns failed.
19:28And the Philadelphia Phillies
19:30did not.
19:31They saw a problem
19:32and fixed the problem.
19:33And Donnie Baseball
19:33is unbelievable.
19:34And you take a look
19:35at Christopher Sanchez,
19:36he's been untouchable,
19:3844 and two-thirds scoreless
19:40in the month of May.
19:41Hasn't given up a run
19:43since the NFL draft.
19:44He's unbelievable.
19:46Harper's incredible.
19:47Schwarber hitting bombs
19:48left and right.
19:49Phillies are making
19:50the playoffs.
19:50Wheeler is back
19:51and pitching unbelievable.
19:53I think the Philadelphia
19:54Phillies are going
19:55to make the playoffs.
19:57I think they're eight games
19:58out right now
19:59for the division.
20:00Wouldn't be surprised
20:01by the All-Star break
20:02if they cut that in half
20:04to four.
20:05Number five,
20:05in terms of our
20:08check of the standings page,
20:10the Mets are the NL's
20:11biggest embarrassment.
20:1314 games at a first.
20:15They have zero fundamentals.
20:17This team is so
20:18fundamentally unsound,
20:19they're impossible to watch.
20:21There's no feel.
20:23There's no clue.
20:24There are no good vibes.
20:26The defense stinks.
20:27The back end of the rotation
20:29stinks.
20:29The manager's terrible.
20:31The general manager's terrible.
20:32The bottom of the order
20:33is scuffling left and right.
20:35The plan in the bullpen
20:37was terrible.
20:38The Mets are dead.
20:39No team in the history
20:40of baseball has had
20:41a losing streak
20:41as long as the Mets
20:42said earlier in the season,
20:4312, and find a way
20:44to make the playoffs.
20:45I mean, 14 games out of first
20:47and no hope inside.
20:49Bag it, Mets.
20:51The biggest embarrassment
20:52in baseball,
20:52the Boston Red Sox,
20:5323 and 31.
20:54This team is a disgrace.
20:57I feel terrible
20:58for the Red Sox fan.
20:59You guys deserve so much more.
21:01You deserve so much better.
21:02The Boston Red Sox
21:04are just poorly owned,
21:06poorly constructed.
21:07I mean, John Henry
21:08has no idea
21:09what the hell he's doing.
21:10It's absolutely awful
21:12when you look at
21:13the way that they handled
21:14Bregman and Devers
21:16and what transpired
21:17with Alex Cora
21:18who should have never
21:18been fired.
21:19Lineup is awful.
21:20The pitching has not lived up.
21:22The Boston Red Sox
21:24are on a road to nowhere.
21:25A lot of teams
21:26are in the conversation
21:27for this.
21:27We can talk Oreos.
21:28We can talk Giants.
21:29We can talk Mets.
21:30Tigers.
21:30I didn't like the Tigers
21:31before this season,
21:32but they have been dreadful.
21:33The biggest disappointment
21:35in baseball,
21:35biggest embarrassment
21:36in baseball,
21:37the Boston Red Sox.
21:38Number seven,
21:39the American League sticks.
21:41Only four teams
21:42over 500.
21:43I still think
21:44the best ball
21:45lies ahead
21:46for the Mariners
21:47and the Rangers.
21:48They need to
21:49ultimately wake up.
21:51I think the best ball
21:52lies ahead
21:53for the Blue Jays.
21:54Wouldn't be surprised
21:55if we see the Blue Jays
21:56and the Rangers
21:58and the Mariners
22:00all make the playoffs
22:01when it's all said and done.
22:03But it leads us
22:04to number eight.
22:05Yankees are winning
22:06the American League.
22:07Rays have come back
22:07down to earth.
22:09Rays are now
22:09have lost four in a row.
22:10I don't think Tampa
22:11is even going to make
22:12the playoffs.
22:13I mean,
22:14you know,
22:14the Cleveland Guardians
22:16are not real competition.
22:18You know,
22:18the A's are not
22:19real competition.
22:20And the White Sox
22:21are not real competition.
22:23Cam's unbelievable.
22:24Gary Cole's unbelievable.
22:25Judge,
22:26not worried about
22:26the funk that he's been in.
22:28Bottom of the order
22:29needs to put the bat
22:30on the ball.
22:31No question about that.
22:32And Brian Cashman
22:33needs to make some trades
22:34for the back end
22:36of that bullpen.
22:37I want two to four
22:38new relievers
22:39for the Yankees.
22:40And number nine,
22:41look,
22:41you take a look
22:42at the standings page.
22:43Isolation Dodgers,
22:44Yankees,
22:45big picture like we're doing.
22:47Nothing has changed for me.
22:48Dodgers,
22:49Yankees,
22:50my World Series pick.
22:52Dodgers and Yankees,
22:53two best teams.
22:54When I look at it now,
22:56objectively,
22:57when I watch,
22:57take a look at the games,
22:59the rotations,
23:00unbelievable.
23:01And I think we are on
23:02a delicious collision course
23:05when you look at it
23:06with the Yankees
23:07and the Dodgers
23:08playing in the fall classic.
23:10And that's going to be
23:11unbelievable
23:11for Major League Baseball.
23:13Let's Shine on Hoops.
23:14The controversy surrounding
23:16SGA and Flopgate
23:18has reached
23:18viral video level reactions.
23:22Take a look at this.
23:23What's up,
23:24y'all?
23:24It's the villain.
23:25I got something to reveal
23:26from Underdog.
23:29Unethical hoops.
23:30Fire.
23:31So let me open this up.
23:33All right,
23:34now we set up.
23:34Let's see what the board looks like.
23:37Head snap.
23:38A lot of people do that.
23:40Hook.
23:41With James Harden's boom.
23:43Push off.
23:44Try this.
23:45You know I don't file.
23:47Right.
23:49See,
23:49that's a file.
23:51See,
23:51see that red,
23:52oh,
23:57next player's turn.
23:59Get yours
23:59when you come out
24:00at UnethicalSports.com
24:02and play your game
24:03with your friends and family
24:05and get reacquainted
24:06with the new
24:07file being
24:08from the gunner.
24:10Oh, boy.
24:12And now we have a lawsuit
24:13from SGA's people
24:15to Underdog
24:17and this is not great.
24:20And frankly,
24:21when I say
24:22this is not great
24:23when you're suing
24:25for you can't use
24:26SGA's name,
24:28image,
24:29or likeness
24:29without his permission.
24:31And I get it.
24:33It just makes SGA
24:35look awful.
24:36I don't know
24:37how else to frame it.
24:38The likability here
24:39when it comes
24:40when it comes to the Thunder
24:41and when it comes to SGA
24:44and being a free-throw merchant
24:46and that was one thing,
24:47the flopping's out of control.
24:49I mean,
24:50the fact that this play right here,
24:51and I feel like I've seen this video
24:53a million times,
24:54but that is the perfect snapshot
24:55of what are we even doing here,
24:58right?
24:58Even go back to the ESPYs last year
25:00when the hilarious Shane Gillis said,
25:03you know,
25:03SGA is here,
25:04everyone claps,
25:05and that means everyone around him
25:06is in foul trouble.
25:07I mean,
25:07it's funny because it's true!
25:10And we're at a stage right now
25:12where the likability of SGA,
25:15the likability of the Thunder,
25:17the flopping problem
25:20is not good for the NBA.
25:23And I constantly,
25:24on this show,
25:25we've had, you know,
25:26all sorts of takes on Shine Time
25:28that have gone viral in a positive way
25:31in terms of how much I appreciate SGA
25:33and love SGA.
25:34And when they go to the finals,
25:36if they perhaps win it,
25:38you know,
25:38our takes are going to be
25:39just absolutely off the charts
25:42with respect for Shane Gillis-Alexander
25:44and the Thunder
25:45and what they have accomplished.
25:46But it's the nonsense
25:49and it's just the cartoonish nature
25:52when it comes to the drawing,
25:55the free-throw,
25:55and obviously,
25:56you know,
25:57the low field goal percentage
25:59and the flopping
26:00that's just driving
26:01everybody nuts here.
26:03Look,
26:03the play has been terrific
26:05when it matters the most
26:06and we picked OKC
26:07to win the other night
26:09in game number five
26:10and the first quarter was bad.
26:12Quarter two, three, and four
26:13was outstanding, right?
26:14Let's give credit
26:15where credit is due, right?
26:17I mean,
26:17that was absolutely awesome
26:19when you look at it
26:20and SGA was not going to be denied
26:23and the role players stepped up
26:24and that was phenomenal
26:26and that was terrific
26:27and I think tonight
26:28the Spurs are going to win the game.
26:31I firmly believe that.
26:32But it's the conversation here
26:35about the flopping
26:36and the nonsense
26:37that honestly,
26:39it just distracts.
26:41And I think that
26:42Adam Silver's done
26:44an unbelievable job
26:45addressing tanking.
26:47A phenomenal job.
26:49And the lottery changes,
26:50it needed to happen.
26:51They need to really do
26:53a deep dive
26:53when it comes to addressing
26:54flopping in the offseason
26:56because when this is a topic
26:58for conversation,
26:59when SGA feels compelled to sue
27:01and I would have never done this
27:03during the playoffs
27:04because it adds to the
27:05bad look quotient
27:07for SGA and OKC,
27:10something needs to be done
27:11because it's just not
27:12the right visual for the NBA.
27:15Thunder can close it out tonight
27:16in the Western Conference Finals.
27:19But not if the Spurs bigs
27:21have anything to say about it.
27:23Kelly Olenek
27:24checks in as well.
27:26Fans react
27:27as Rembenyama checks out
27:29on a four-minute by AT&T.
27:31Recap of this one.
27:34Break it up.
27:35Mason Plumlee
27:37with the elbow
27:38in the back of McCain.
27:40Yeah, I would say so.
27:42Look, everything that's
27:43going down here
27:44with the Thunder,
27:46here's the shot.
27:47The umbo hard foul on McCain.
27:49These are two shots.
27:51He took a shot in the back
27:53and this one
27:55right to the face.
28:02And of course,
28:03the great Mike Tirico
28:04on the call on NBC.
28:06And honestly,
28:07I expect the Thunder
28:09to win this series.
28:10and I'm staying
28:11very consistent here
28:13when I,
28:14before the series started,
28:16said OKC in seven.
28:17And I'm going to stay
28:18with OKC in seven.
28:20I would be surprised
28:21and I would be disappointed
28:23if Wemby didn't play better.
28:25Look,
28:26I didn't
28:27appreciate Wemby
28:28not talking to the press
28:30after game number five.
28:31And obviously,
28:33he's an alien.
28:34He's a freak.
28:35He's an all-time
28:37on-the-courts NBA player
28:39in terms of doing things
28:40that have never been done before.
28:42You know,
28:42he's pulling up
28:43in game one
28:43from Steph Curry range.
28:45He's just unbelievable.
28:47It's like a combo
28:47of Steph and Wilton,
28:49E.T.
28:50all rolled into one.
28:51That's what we're talking about.
28:53So I'm willing
28:54to give Wemby
28:56a pass
28:57for not talking
28:58to the press.
28:59A worse game
29:00of the series
29:01with 20 points
29:01only took 15 shots.
29:03The Biggs,
29:04Harnstein and company
29:05did an excellent job
29:06against him.
29:08I think Vegas knows
29:09in terms of San Antonio
29:11being favored tonight
29:12by three and a half points.
29:14I think the Spurs
29:16will be able to win.
29:17I think the Spurs
29:18will bounce back.
29:19I think that for someone
29:21like Wemby,
29:21even at a young age,
29:23this is what stars do.
29:24We saw with SGA
29:25going from game four
29:26to game five.
29:27Bad game four,
29:28phenomenal in game five.
29:29You usually don't have
29:31consecutive poor games
29:33by your lofty,
29:34legendary standards.
29:35And I think Wemby
29:36is going to come to play.
29:38Still like the Thunder
29:39to ultimately win
29:40this series in seven games.
29:42Not going to be stunned
29:42if they win it tonight.
29:44But I'm going to give
29:44Wemby,
29:45all-encompassing everything,
29:47the benefit of the doubts
29:48in terms of not talking
29:49to the press.
29:50Didn't like it.
29:51I think he's going to
29:51learn from it.
29:52And I think Wemby's
29:53going to talk with his play
29:55tonight.
29:55Meanwhile,
29:57the Knicks waits.
29:58And Knicks fever,
29:59as strong as ever.
30:00From the fans,
30:01to the Pope,
30:02and even other
30:03New York City
30:04superstar athletes.
30:06Before we let you go,
30:08got to mention,
30:09it looked like that
30:10home run celebration
30:11was a little bit of an ode
30:12to another team in town.
30:14Tell us about it.
30:15You know,
30:16we just got to keep
30:17cheering for the Knicks
30:17and let's go Knicks.
30:19Jalen Brunson
30:20and Juan Soto
30:21celebrating the same way.
30:23Hopefully,
30:23go Knicks!
30:25Hopefully,
30:25hopefully,
30:26go Knicks!
30:27Hopefully,
30:27go Knicks!
30:28Hopefully,
30:28go Knicks!
30:29Go Knicks!
30:30Yeah!
30:31It's the first!
30:35Yeah!
30:36Jalen Brunson,
30:38I love you!
30:42I mean,
30:42that's as great as it gets.
30:44I'm laughing,
30:45Monica McNutt is laughing,
30:46our guest today,
30:47of course,
30:47has a front row seat
30:48for this unbelievable
30:49Knicks run
30:50as the incredible,
30:51she is amazing
30:52on the radio,
30:53Knicks radio analyst.
30:54You see her,
30:55of course,
30:55all over ESPN
30:56where she's fantastic
30:57as an NBA analyst,
30:58former Hooper herself,
30:59Georgetown Hoya,
31:00as a Syracuse Orange,
31:01not going to hold
31:02that against her,
31:03the great Monica McNutt
31:04joins the show.
31:05Monica,
31:06how are you?
31:07I'm good.
31:08Thanks for having me.
31:09What a great rollout
31:11to my appearance.
31:12I mean,
31:12Pope Leo,
31:13go Knicks!
31:14I love it!
31:14Doesn't get much better.
31:16And listen,
31:17you're on the road
31:18with the team,
31:18you're obviously
31:19at the Garden
31:20every single night,
31:21you're talking
31:22to people nonstop,
31:24you understand
31:24the energy
31:25better than anyone.
31:26How electric is this city
31:28with the Knicks run
31:29right now?
31:30Man, Adam,
31:32it is palpable, right?
31:35Like, you can feel it,
31:36you can see it,
31:37it involves every one
31:38of your senses
31:39because you certainly
31:40can hear it.
31:41I was literally
31:42hands full coming
31:43from the grocery store
31:44a few minutes ago,
31:45and I don't know
31:45that the guys recognize me
31:46until after the fact,
31:47but immediately,
31:48they're like,
31:48Knicks in five!
31:49I'm like, okay,
31:50I feel good.
31:50Wait a minute,
31:51I think the finals
31:52will be a little bit
31:52more challenging
31:53than what we've seen
31:54in the past,
31:54but everybody wants
31:55to talk about it,
31:56and I admire it so much.
31:58I mean, the city
31:59and Knicks fans
31:59have been so kind to me.
32:01I've been here
32:01for five years now,
32:02but this fan base
32:03has been rolling
32:04through all of the highs
32:05and lows.
32:06Like, we laugh
32:06when folks call out
32:07the 17-win seasons,
32:08but that is really
32:09what this orange
32:10and blue community
32:11has had to roll through,
32:13and so the fans deserve it.
32:15They so, so deserve it.
32:16I'm so happy
32:16for all of them.
32:17Incredibly well said.
32:18Now, this 11-game
32:19winning streak
32:20in the playoffs,
32:21Monica, has been historic.
32:23The point-per-game
32:25differential,
32:26I mean, it's better
32:27than two of the best teams
32:29I've ever seen,
32:30the 2017 Warriors,
32:32the 2001 Lakers.
32:35So you're at every game.
32:37You're an analyst
32:38literally for every game.
32:40What have been the keys
32:41to this all-time domination?
32:43The efficiency, Adam.
32:45Like, it is unreal to watch.
32:47And granted,
32:49at our seats,
32:50we have all the stats
32:51in front of us,
32:51and I know Tyler and I
32:53in game four in Cleveland
32:55were like,
32:56we're, it's a,
32:57we swept again.
32:58Like, it is just
32:59an unreal level of basketball
33:00because even if this team
33:02were to come back
33:02to earth a little bit,
33:04they still would be
33:04playing great ball,
33:06but what they're doing now
33:07is just otherworldly.
33:09And the only way
33:10that I could describe it
33:11after game three
33:11when we were in Cleveland,
33:12it's very popular
33:13amongst the young people,
33:14Adam, I'm not sure
33:14if you're aware,
33:15was as a flow state.
33:16Like, things are just
33:18flowing for this group.
33:19They're playing,
33:20as Josh Hart said,
33:21they're playing the right way
33:23at the right time
33:24at the highest level,
33:25if I could add to his quote.
33:27Well, and it's interesting,
33:28and I thought about this,
33:29and I kind of want to
33:30pick your brain on it, right?
33:31And I know Mike Brown
33:33loves Landry Schammett,
33:34and I do too,
33:35but I feel like,
33:37other than Landry,
33:38no one's really overachieving.
33:41Like, this is what I expect.
33:43Mikkel Bridges
33:43is this kind of player.
33:44Karl-Anthony Towns
33:46is this kind of player.
33:47OG Ananobi,
33:48this kind of player.
33:50Is that a fair take
33:51on my part?
33:52Yeah, and that's exactly
33:53what Josh Hart had to say, right?
33:55They're playing the right way
33:56at the right time.
33:57I also will say this, though,
33:59Adam, I got to give
34:00Mike Brown his credit
34:01because he came into New York,
34:03he's so jovial,
34:04he's so honest,
34:05he's an outstanding coach,
34:06but I remember early on
34:07thinking,
34:08ooh, welcome to New York.
34:09Sure, you're going
34:10to be collaborative.
34:10That sounds great.
34:11We'll see how this goes.
34:13But in that Atlanta series,
34:14it was the ability
34:15and the culture
34:17that he's built
34:18in terms of collaborating
34:19with his coaching staff,
34:20with his players,
34:21that really sort of
34:22turned things around.
34:23And as a former athlete,
34:24you all know,
34:25when you see the ball
34:26go in a few times,
34:27your confidence is up.
34:28And the style that emerged
34:29in that Atlanta series
34:31was one where everybody ate
34:33and they enjoyed it.
34:34And then the defense
34:35took a next level,
34:36and he gave a lot of credit
34:37to Darren Ehrman
34:38and Brennan O'Connell
34:38for that.
34:39And so they've been able
34:40to hold on to that
34:42throughout this whole season.
34:43I remember talking
34:44to Deuce McBride
34:44and asking him,
34:45what was it about the turn
34:47in that series
34:48that has propelled
34:49this team to play so well?
34:50And he was like,
34:51we realized that
34:52we couldn't play around anymore.
34:53Like, it was time
34:55for us to completely lock in.
34:56We didn't want to leave
34:57anything on the table.
34:58And that's exactly
34:59how they've played
34:59since then.
35:00Without question.
35:01It's great stuff.
35:02Now you,
35:02you reference your time
35:03in New York.
35:04You've covered
35:06every single move
35:07that Jalen Brunson has made.
35:08And I just think
35:09the world of him, right?
35:11And, you know,
35:12when it comes to play,
35:13when it comes to leadership,
35:14when it comes to
35:15crunch time ability,
35:17how do you describe Monica?
35:19What makes him so special?
35:21Man, we did a piece.
35:23Is my second year
35:24Jalen's second year?
35:25I think I was a year before.
35:26I've been here a year
35:27longer than Jalen.
35:27So it was his second year,
35:29I believe.
35:29We did a piece
35:30where I had the opportunity
35:31to sit down with him
35:32and go through film.
35:33And I'll never forget this
35:34as long as I cover him, Adam.
35:36He basically was like,
35:37we're looking at these moves
35:38and I'm like,
35:39what are you seeing?
35:39Da, da, da, da, da.
35:40He's like,
35:41I've never been the fastest.
35:42I've never been the strongest.
35:44I've never out athleticized,
35:46if you can go along
35:47with that verb with me.
35:49So he's like,
35:50but I've always had to figure out
35:51how to beat my opponents.
35:53So I just played him my strengths.
35:54And he has been meticulous
35:57about finding his strength.
36:00But you look at who he is
36:02as a man,
36:02as a basketball player,
36:03his foundation is called
36:04the Second Round Foundation.
36:05Like,
36:06at every stop, Adam,
36:07he has been one
36:08that has been doubted
36:09for whatever reason.
36:10But all he has done is won.
36:12And so there are some people
36:13among us
36:14who just have
36:15that winning gene.
36:16And I would describe
36:17Jalen Brunson
36:18as one of those guys.
36:19And you nailed it.
36:20I totally agree.
36:21That's why I've compared him
36:22to Derek Jeter.
36:23I think he,
36:24and he's got to win,
36:24obviously,
36:25for that ultimate comparison.
36:26But he's got that
36:27Jeterian approach.
36:28And you see it
36:29night in,
36:29night out.
36:30Now,
36:30I couldn't wait
36:31to ask you this question.
36:32Because I have so much respect
36:34for Becky Hammond.
36:34And I think she's phenomenal.
36:37Like,
36:37not good
36:38and all-time basketball mind.
36:40What she's doing
36:40in the WNBA,
36:41what she did in the NBA.
36:43I mean,
36:43she's,
36:43she's a legend.
36:45But I didn't understand
36:46what she said
36:47when she said it on ESPN.
36:48I didn't agree with it.
36:49And I didn't understand
36:51why she doubled down on it.
36:53That Jalen Brunson
36:54can't be the best player
36:55on a championship team.
36:56She's also not alone
36:58with that thought.
36:59But it's Becky Hammond,
37:01so that kind of
37:01caught my attention.
37:02What was your take on it?
37:04So,
37:05I remember when she said it.
37:06And honestly,
37:07Adam,
37:08historically,
37:09she was not wrong.
37:11Right.
37:11Right?
37:12Isaiah Thomas,
37:13Steph Curry.
37:13The list is very short.
37:14Right?
37:15But I remember her saying,
37:17and I was like,
37:17ooh,
37:18said that to the wrong fan base.
37:19My girl.
37:20And I too adore Becky Hammond.
37:22She's a hall of famer.
37:24I think in her most recent comment,
37:25she has just acknowledged
37:26that it's an occupational hazard.
37:28Right?
37:29At the time,
37:29that's what she believed.
37:30And to your point,
37:31there's still one more round to go
37:32for her to be ultimately proven wrong.
37:35But it is not solely her opinion.
37:37She picked the wrong fan base.
37:39And I will add,
37:40as a woman in this space,
37:41I think it's easy to pile on women
37:42in this space.
37:43Not everybody rolls off her credentials
37:45the way you did, Adam.
37:47But I think if she said it,
37:49if you listen to that whole quote
37:50in the double down,
37:51she said,
37:51if he proves me wrong,
37:53then so be it.
37:54Right?
37:54But I get it.
37:55I have said some crazy things
37:56as an analyst, too.
37:57I think I said the Warriors
37:57will cook the year they went on
37:58to win a championship.
38:00Listen,
38:01we've all been there.
38:02And it was interesting, right?
38:03When it was Becky who said it,
38:05I'm like,
38:05I mean,
38:06every time she talks,
38:07I kind of pay attention
38:08a little bit more.
38:09This was what I was like,
38:10hmm.
38:11But we'll see what happens
38:13in the next round.
38:13I'll tell you something
38:14that bothers me.
38:15When people start talking
38:17about the Knicks
38:17and they're here
38:18because of the East.
38:20And look,
38:20the East this year has been,
38:22and I've used these words, right,
38:24wild, wacky, weak.
38:26But you don't get to choose that.
38:28And they're playing
38:29at that aforementioned
38:30all-time heater
38:31in the postseason.
38:32And it's not their fault
38:34the Celtics didn't live up
38:35to where they were supposed
38:36to go in the playoffs.
38:37Or the Pistons,
38:38for that matter,
38:39who I think matched up
38:40really well with the Knicks.
38:42And it's not like
38:43they're winning these series,
38:44you know,
38:44against Philly
38:45or against Cleveland
38:46in six or seven games.
38:49They're destroying them.
38:50So to me, Monica,
38:51I don't even understand
38:52that topic for conversation.
38:54When people bring that up,
38:55to me,
38:56it is the immediate non-starter.
38:57I'm walking away.
38:58The conversation's open.
38:59Because what are you talking about?
39:00You have to play the cards
39:02that you have been dealt.
39:03And to your point,
39:04they have emphatically.
39:06Now, if they ended up
39:06going to seven-game series
39:07with teams that folks
39:08wanted to talk about
39:09were playing teams,
39:10then maybe I could have
39:11the conversation.
39:12But what do you want
39:13them to do, right?
39:14And Mike Greenberg
39:15did an excellent job
39:16yesterday on Get Up
39:17in his essay.
39:18But he went back
39:19and looked at the last
39:20three champions
39:21and the seeds
39:21that they have beaten.
39:23The seeding is in favor
39:24of the last team
39:25most typically.
39:26Like, I don't think
39:27we've had a champion
39:28in the last three years
39:29that had to knock off
39:30a one or two
39:31because either they were
39:33one of those seeds
39:33or those seeds
39:34were already eliminated
39:35in some kind of way.
39:36So I don't care.
39:38I care about the score
39:39at the end of the game.
39:40And I think
39:41the immediate stop
39:43in that conversation
39:44is how this team
39:46has done it.
39:46They have left
39:47no doubt.
39:48They have done
39:49historic things.
39:5011 straight games,
39:51a 250-plus point differential.
39:54Like, what do you want?
39:55Them to protest playing
39:57because that's not the seed
39:58that they were supposed
39:58to play?
39:59Shut up.
40:00I'm totally with you.
40:02And listen,
40:02last year in the NFL
40:04the Patriots were a fluke
40:05because you watch the game
40:06and you say,
40:07okay, I feel like
40:08even when they go
40:08to a championship situation,
40:09they're not going
40:10to be able to win.
40:11I feel totally differently
40:12now about the Knicks.
40:14And I have so much
40:15respect for OKC,
40:16respect obviously
40:17San Antonio as well.
40:18Who do you think
40:19wins that series?
40:21Will the Knicks
40:22end up winning
40:23a championship?
40:24Who do you think
40:24the Knicks match up
40:25better against
40:26the Thunder or the Spurs?
40:28I think they match up
40:29better against the Spurs.
40:30I think OKC is going
40:32to be the ultimate victor.
40:33I just don't know
40:34and no pun intended,
40:35I don't know
40:36if the Spurs
40:37have it in them
40:38to win two straight.
40:39Frankly,
40:39I don't think
40:40either of these teams
40:41in this series
40:41have it in them
40:42to win two straight.
40:43I expect the Spurs
40:43to win tonight
40:44and it's probably
40:44not going to be
40:45a particularly enjoyable game
40:47because that's what
40:47we've seen in the series.
40:48One team empties the clip
40:50in order to win the game
40:51and the next game,
40:52I don't know
40:52if it's strategic
40:53or intentional,
40:54but they look crazy.
40:55And so,
40:56the Spurs to me
40:57are a better matchup
40:58based on what we've seen
40:59during the regular season
41:00and the NBA Emirates Cup
41:02and their youth.
41:03I think the Knicks
41:03have the advantage
41:04in terms of their
41:05veteran experience.
41:07OKC, though,
41:07to me,
41:08that's a team
41:08that is not whole.
41:10And I think
41:10the absences
41:11of Jalen Williams,
41:12we'll see what happens
41:12with AJ Mitchell.
41:13Those are big losses.
41:14I don't think
41:15that they've looked
41:16as scary as they have
41:17in years past,
41:18particularly compared
41:19to the way
41:19that the Knicks
41:19have been playing.
41:20And another thing,
41:21Adam,
41:21because people want
41:22to get on this
41:22rust and rest thing.
41:23No team ever
41:25in the NBA
41:26would say,
41:27no,
41:28we would like
41:28to play a gruesome
41:29seven-game series
41:30in order to match
41:31that which is happening
41:32for our opponent
41:33as opposed to
41:34cleaning house
41:35in four games
41:36and having an opportunity
41:37to watch an opponent
41:38go through a gauntlet
41:39of a series.
41:40I do expect,
41:41though,
41:41the preparation
41:42going into the finals
41:43to look a little bit different,
41:44maybe ramping up
41:47the intensity
41:48leading into those few games
41:49so we can avoid
41:50the three-and-a-half-quarters
41:51of rust that we saw
41:52in the Eastern Conference
41:53Finals game one.
41:55100%.
41:55And then,
41:56fresh legs,
41:57to your point.
41:58So that's
41:59absolutely spot-on.
42:00Tell us what MSG
42:01and the coverage
42:02has been unbelievable,
42:03what MSG has planned
42:05for the coverage
42:06of the finals.
42:07Oh, my gosh.
42:08So we've got
42:08hour-long shows
42:09leading into it.
42:10I'll be boots on the ground
42:11for our media day
42:13on June 2nd
42:14before we start action
42:15on June 3rd.
42:16You can see there
42:17all the different ways
42:18that we will be joining you.
42:19Our social media
42:20will be active.
42:21Bill Pito,
42:22Wally Zerbiak,
42:22Alan Hahn,
42:23Steve Novak,
42:24Alex Monaco,
42:25who's been viral
42:26out in the crowds
42:27with Knicks fans.
42:28Like, all of our teammates
42:30are boots on the ground.
42:31We're super, super excited
42:32to have guest alumni
42:34along with us,
42:35guest analysts.
42:36Like, we're in it.
42:37And I remember
42:37coming to the City Adam
42:38and telling my guys,
42:40like, it's gonna turn, y'all.
42:41It's gonna turn.
42:41It has turned, for sure.
42:43But those guys
42:44were in it
42:45through some of those
42:46dog years,
42:46and so they are
42:47as passionate
42:48as the fan bases.

42:52at Madison Square Garden.
42:53And listen,
42:54this has been
42:55an unbelievable ride.
42:56You're doing
42:56an unbelievable job
42:57on the radio,
42:58and we'll talk to you
42:58again real soon.
42:59Sounds good.
43:00Thanks for having me.
43:01Monica McNutz,
43:02but wait, there's more.
43:03I didn't feel
43:05very well on court,
43:06but it can happen.
43:10Struggled,
43:11starting to feel
43:12very dizzy,
43:14very low of energy,
43:16and tried to serve it out,
43:20but didn't have
43:22a lot of energy.
43:23Ford said to let it go
43:24a little bit,
43:25trying to have
43:25a bit more energy
43:26in the fifth.
43:29My goodness.
43:30I watched it.
43:31I still can't believe it.
43:32Yannick Sinner,
43:33stunningly out
43:34of the 2026 French Open
43:37in one of the all-time
43:39collapses
43:40in the history of sports.
43:42That is the only way
43:43to phrase it.
43:44We're talking about
43:45the top seed,
43:46the number one ranked player
43:47in the world,
43:49up 6'3",
43:516'2",
43:525'1".
43:555'1".
43:57He won.
43:58One game away
43:59from victory,
44:01facing the 56th ranked player
44:04in the world.
44:05And Sinner lost 18 straight points.
44:10And then he dropped
44:11the final three sets.
44:137'5", 6'1", 6'1".
44:16Now, sake of conversation
44:18and fairness, right,
44:19it doesn't take anything away.
44:20Still an all-time choke,
44:22and I still can't believe
44:23it happened.
44:23He was cramping,
44:25and this was a deal.
44:26Maybe dehydrated,
44:2890 degrees in Paris.
44:30I can't believe it.
44:32I'm watching it,
44:33and I love tennis.
44:34I love high-level
44:35men's and women's tennis.
44:36I love all the majors.
44:37I love watching this.
44:39Absolutely wild.
44:40I mean,
44:41this is an all-time choke.
44:43And I want you to consider this.
44:45The live odds
44:46spiked to 100-1.
44:48Think about that.
44:50100-1.
44:51He was a favorite to win.
44:55Favorite to win.
44:57You couldn't even place a bet on it.
44:59It wasn't worth it.
45:00Minus 50,000 at one point
45:04during this match.
45:05Before the tournament,
45:07to win the French Open,
45:09why even bother?
45:10Sinner minus 300.
45:15Just one away from winning.
45:18I honestly,
45:19I found myself just awestruck.
45:22I could not believe
45:24Sinner choked like that,
45:26and clearly he wasn't healthy,
45:27obviously,
45:28but when you have a nondescript
45:3056-ranked player in the country
45:32taking my guy Sinner out,
45:35man,
45:36I've officially seen it all.
45:38That is one of
45:39the worst chokes and collapses
45:42in the history of sports.
45:44In a big-time event
45:45from a big-time athlete
45:47who was on a heater.
45:49He was on a 30-match winning streak.
45:52And to see that happen today,
45:56wow.
45:57That is an all-time choke.
45:59That's the show.
