00:00Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden tonight.
00:05Revenge on Wemby?
00:07Cats bounce back?
00:09Watch Party insanity?
00:12Shine Time starts right now.
00:14Don't stop.
00:16Keep it coming, baby.
00:18Don't stop.
00:20Watch this play.
00:21This is what frustrated Brunson.
00:22Oh, whoa.
00:23That's, excuse me, that should be a flagrant one.
00:26I can understand why Brunson and then Wemby's laughing at it.
00:29Whatever you saw is what you saw.
00:32It seems as though you may be New York's newest villain.
00:37Is that kind of the ultimate compliment?
00:43I guess I'm nowhere near Trey Young level, though.
00:48You're above Trey Young level.
00:50Victor Romaniama is a wanted man in New York City.
00:53The NBA failed to assess Wemby a flagrant foul
00:56for his act of thuggery.
00:59Look at this amazing front page.
01:02Not even a back page.
01:04Front page today of the New York Post.
01:07Absolutely positively perfect.
01:09Wanted for crimes against the Knicks.
01:13Are you kidding me?
01:15Of course that should have been a flagrant foul.
01:17That was UFC.
01:20That wasn't basketball.
01:22Sham Sharania broke the story yesterday.
01:25And listen, there was no element of surprise.
01:28And we said it yesterday on Shine Time.
01:30We said it.
01:32We said it in real time when it happened.
01:34We said it during the show yesterday.
01:36There was no chance that the league was going to do the right thing
01:41and upgrade that, which was clearly a flagrant foul to a flagrant foul
01:46because at the end of the day, you see the end of the Shams tweet right there?
01:49It's going to stay at two flagrant points in the postseason
01:52because if they went to a third,
01:55then if there was a call in a game that was a clear flagrant foul,
01:59then you would see if you reach your fourth,
02:01if you're Victor Romaniama or any player,
02:04then you're automatically suspended for the next game.
02:06So that's why they didn't do it.
02:08Everyone and their mother knows it's a flagrant foul.
02:11My mom was watching the game.
02:13She texted me.
02:15It's a flagrant foul.
02:16Richard Jefferson on the ESPN broadcast, the ABC broadcast,
02:20you heard him right there.
02:21It's a flagrant foul.
02:22And I'm all for hard fouls.
02:24I'm all for 90s basketball.
02:26I'm all for letting someone know you don't drive the paint.
02:29Guys, show this video.
02:31This is not basketball.
02:34This is the definition of a flagrant foul.
02:37Look at that.
02:38He took our captain and he shoved him to the ground.
02:42That is a disgrace.
02:44Now, there was no chance that the league was going to do anything about it
02:48because, again, I want to stress this.
02:50There was no way it was going to happen
02:52because then it's a third point for flagrant fouls.
02:54And if he gets a fourth, bam, automatic suspension.
02:57So this way, now, at the end of the day, if he gets a flagrant foul tonight,
03:02well, he's not suspended for game number five.
03:05And Jose Alvarado did not mince words when it came to how the Knicks would respond.
03:11He was not going to mess around.
03:14He said, quote,
03:15No, that's not basketball.
03:17That's something they got to look at.
03:19But he got away with one.
03:22That'll be the last one.
03:26Oh, baby.
03:27Buckle up, Buttercup.
03:28And Alvarado, who's a native New Yorker,
03:31he is not messing around.
03:32And this means, without question,
03:35all eyes are going to be on the ultimate villain,
03:37Victor Wimbanyama, tonight.
03:39And the shame of it all, right,
03:41if Jalen Brunson—I want you to think about this for a second.
03:44If Jalen Brunson had the natural reaction
03:47and went into Wemby's face
03:50and started, you know, jawing at him
03:53and pushed him or whatever it was,
03:55and there was a double technical, hypothetically,
03:58on Wemby and Jalen Brunson,
04:00they would have gone to the monitor in moment
04:02and they absolutely unequivocally
04:04would have ruled that a flagrant foul.
04:06Just like Richard Jefferson,
04:08like everyone with a brain watching in moments,
04:11and clearly, that's a flagrant foul.
04:14I knew, and we called it on Shine Time,
04:16they were never going to reverse that
04:17for all the reasons that we mentioned,
04:19but that doesn't mean that Victor Wimbanyama
04:22is getting away with this.
04:23I love Alvarado's response.
04:25I love the toughness.
04:26I also don't want to see the Knicks
04:29lose sight of what needs to happen tonight.
04:32Listen, they need to win the damn game.
04:34They need to find, they need to win.
04:37Now, simultaneously, part of it
04:39is to make sure that Victor Wimbanyama
04:40gets roughed up a little bit, right?
04:43You can't give him easy looks.
04:45You got to make sure he can't just waltz
04:47with his 7-5 frame.
04:49He can't waltz into the paints.
04:51Victor Wimbanyama is an unbelievable ball player.
04:54The Spurs just won the basketball game.
04:55I mean, look at all these dunks, right?
04:57If that means, right from the jump,
04:59and that was the first bucket of the game
05:02on Monday night,
05:03if that means you got to rough him up a little bit,
05:06hard fouls, that's basketball.
05:08Don't get crazy.
05:10Don't get nonsensical.
05:12Don't make, you know,
05:13some kind of hard screen,
05:15a hard pick turn into something
05:17where it turns into guys getting off the bench,
05:21getting suspended.
05:22I saw as a Knicks fan start thinking
05:23about the Miami Heat series a lifetime ago.
05:25I don't want any of that.
05:27I need focus on a win.
05:29But if Alvarado, if Mitchell Robinson,
05:33if these guys want to order the code red,
05:36not only because of what Wemby did to Brunson,
05:39but because of this, he went into your house
05:42and owned Madison Square Garden?
05:45Listen, I'm okay with that.
05:47And here's the deal, right?
05:49And I said yesterday on Shine Time,
05:52I think I'm starting to hate Victor Wemby-Nyama.
05:54I mean, the reason he's in this predicament
05:56in the first place,
05:57and we made a big deal about this,
05:58is what he did to Nas Reed
05:59and when he elbowed him in the face.
06:02So think of some of these moments
06:04that Victor Wemby-Nyama has had in the postseason.
06:08I mean, this, this is the worst moment
06:11on the court this postseason.
06:14I mean, look at this.
06:15Look at this.
06:16Calm, calm, calm.
06:18Bam!
06:18That's a wind-up right to the face.
06:22And then you see the thuggery,
06:24the UFC kind of move with Jalen Brunson.
06:28And that's why this conversation resonates.
06:31And, you know, if you're a Knicks fan,
06:33you're at the Garden tonight,
06:35you're going to be booing like no other.
06:37You think President Trump got booed the other night?
06:41Wait until you hear the player introductions
06:43tonight for Victor Wemby-Nyama.
06:45It's going to be a chorus of boos.
06:47Think about, you know, Michael Jordan
06:49and P.J. Brown and Trey Young
06:53and Reggie Miller on speed tonight.
06:57That's what it's going to be like
06:58when Wemby gets introduced.
07:00So I got to tell you,
07:01I'm pissed off
07:03that this was not a flagrant foul.
07:05They got it wrong.
07:07I knew that they were never going to upgrade it
07:10because, again,
07:11of that automatic suspension
07:12that would have occurred
07:13if, in fact,
07:14he got another flagrant foul
07:15and a flagrant foul point.
07:17So the league wasn't going to do anything
07:19because, you know,
07:20you can't have Victor Wemby-Nyama,
07:22you know,
07:23ultimately not playing in an NBA Finals game.
07:25So I'm not surprised
07:27in any way, shape, or form.
07:28I'm just angry.
07:30I think this adds to the angst
07:32and the anger
07:32and, you know,
07:34everything that goes into
07:35the Knicks being up 2-1.
07:36And the mood is different today in the city.
07:39Walking the streets,
07:41interacting with other Knicks fans.
07:43You know,
07:43on Monday at this time,
07:45it was happy, happy, joy, joy,
07:48up to nothing.
07:49Now it's 2-1.
07:51Wemby-Nyama is getting away
07:53with murder at Madison Square Garden.
07:55He is the ultimate villain.
07:57I can't stand watching him.
08:00I need him tonight
08:01cascaded with boos.
08:03That will happen.
08:03And here's the deal,
08:05and this feels like
08:06it's kind of everything.
08:07And this is why,
08:08you know,
08:08you could talk about,
08:09you know,
08:09bringing in reserves
08:10and here's Huckporting to foul him
08:13and, you know,
08:13who cares,
08:14get him out of the game.
08:15I need the Knicks
08:16to play on defense
08:17like they did in game one.
08:20When you look at it,
08:21Victor Wemby-Nyama
08:22was a trolley,
08:23gerocious on offense
08:24in that game.
08:26Great on defense,
08:27rebounding, whatever,
08:28but terrible on offense.
08:30First half of game two,
08:31he was terrible.
08:32The final stretch of game two,
08:33he was terrible.
08:35Game three,
08:36he owned the joint.
08:37The beginning of that game
08:38was awesome.
08:38The numbers were fantastic.
08:40And look at this.
08:41He was so dominant
08:42down low.
08:44And he was able,
08:45this is a great board,
08:46to get away with
08:47whatever the hell
08:48he wanted to.
08:49Game one, game two,
08:51settling for shots
08:52from the outside.
08:53Game three,
08:54just hanging under the basket.
08:55So, you want to be physical
08:57with him so he goes
08:58to the outside?
08:59Great.
08:59You want to, you know,
09:00get revenge
09:01and retribution for him
09:03shoving the captain
09:04and get away with it?
09:05Look,
09:06win the damn game.
09:07You want to rough him up
09:08in the process?
09:09Great.
09:10I'm done with Wemby.
09:11I'm done with him.
09:12He's a freak.
09:13He's an alien.
09:13He's an unbelievable player.
09:15He's hanging in Gramercy Park.
09:16Who gave him the key
09:17to Gramercy Park anyway?
09:19That's what I want to know.
09:21Unbelievable.
09:23Carl Anthony Towns,
09:24largely responsible
09:25for Wemby being contained
09:26in the first couple
09:27of games of this series.
09:29Despite great efforts
09:30and those wins,
09:31Cats now has as many points
09:33in the fourth quarter
09:34in this series
09:35as me and you.
09:37Talked about it yesterday.
09:40Through the series so far,
09:41you haven't scored a point yet
09:43in the fourth quarter
09:44and taken just six shots.
09:45Is there something
09:46that's been different
09:47about the fourth,
09:48whether it's later in the game
09:50and there's less energy
09:50or how they're playing you
09:52than the rest of the series
09:53in which you've been
09:54so good so far?
09:56I think it's a combination.
09:58We have a game plan.
10:00We want to execute it.
10:02So just trying to execute
10:04our game plan,
10:05especially when we get
10:06in the fourth,
10:06is vital
10:07and just doing what I can
10:09to execute it
10:10at the highest level.
10:150.0.
10:18Animal House, baby.
10:19What a terrific job
10:20by the Shine Time team
10:21putting that one together.
10:23I mean,
10:24just absolutely incredible.
10:26Catnap.
10:27And here's the deal,
10:29and it's kind of crazy
10:29how these NBA series,
10:31they really,
10:33there's no correlation
10:34from one game to the next.
10:36I mean,
10:36what was the big topic
10:37post-game on Friday night
10:39after game two?
10:40Cat MVP.
10:42That conversation
10:43as we speak
10:44does not exist anymore.
10:46And anytime you have
10:47to reference 0.0
10:49and a good Animal House
10:51reference
10:51for Carl Anthony Towns
10:53in the fourth quarter
10:54during the NBA Finals
10:56and specifically
10:57how bad he was,
10:580 for 4,
10:59and scoreless
11:00in the fourth quarter
11:01in such a monster
11:03game number three,
11:04that's not great.
11:06I want to go back
11:07to an original premise here
11:08that we said
11:09before game one,
11:10before game two,
11:11and our take
11:12before the series started.
11:14I think Carl Anthony Towns
11:15is going to lead the Knicks
11:17to a championship.
11:18Nothing has changed.
11:20And I believe,
11:21and we had that
11:21unbelievable spots
11:22with Rick Pitino
11:23and Shine Time yesterday,
11:25it's so important
11:26for the Knicks
11:27to get into their offense
11:28earlier
11:29and to have the offense
11:31go through
11:31Carl Anthony Towns.
11:33I don't push
11:35any kind of panic button,
11:36and neither is Vegas.
11:37Look at it.
11:39The Knicks are the favorites.
11:41That changed
11:43after the first couple
11:44of games.
11:45Vegas is not going
11:47to overreact.
11:48I'm going to take you
11:49a step further.
11:50I'd like the Knicks
11:51to win tonight.
11:53Obviously,
11:53I'm a diehard fan.
11:54I'd much rather be up
11:553-1 than 2-2.
11:57I don't even think
11:58tonight is a must-win
11:59for the Knicks.
12:00Must-win insinuates
12:02if you lose,
12:03it's over.
12:04If the series
12:05is tied at 2,
12:06you know the Knicks
12:07absolutely positively
12:09can go into San Antonio
12:10and win.
12:10We have the body
12:11of work of that
12:12happening twice
12:13during these finals.
12:15So,
12:15I expect the Knicks
12:17to win tonight.
12:18If they don't win tonight,
12:20I expect them
12:21to win Game 5.
12:22I expect the Knicks
12:23to win the series.
12:24We originally said,
12:25and I feel compelled
12:26to go back to it
12:27because it matters,
12:28Knicks in 7.
12:30Tonight,
12:30I think Carl Anthony Towns
12:31is going to be
12:32the best player
12:32on the floor.
12:33And I think
12:34the second best player
12:34on the floor
12:35is going to be
12:35Jalen Brunson.
12:36It's interesting.
12:38We've seen
12:38Jalen Brunson
12:39have unbelievable
12:41moments in these finals.
12:43And you look at
12:44what he did
12:45in Game 3,
12:4532 points,
12:46normally that would
12:47be great.
12:48Low field goal percentage,
12:50too much dribbling,
12:53five turnovers
12:54for Jalen Brunson.
12:55That, to me,
12:56is problematic
12:57when you look at it.
12:59And Vegas,
13:00if you look at the odds
13:01for tonight,
13:02they favor the Knicks.
13:03I think the Knicks
13:04should be favored.
13:05I think you're going
13:06to see Jalen Brunson
13:07have a much better
13:09and a much more even game.
13:11I don't need
13:12a Brunson burner tonight.
13:14I need Brunson
13:15to be really good
13:17to great threat.
13:18I like the Knicks
13:20money line.
13:21I like the Knicks
13:21laying the two and a half.
13:23And I think you're going
13:24to see the Knicks
13:25win this game tonight.
13:26I think there's a lot
13:28of pressure, honestly,
13:29on San Antonio.
13:30Because there's a monster
13:33difference between 2-2
13:34and 3-1.
13:35And there's knowledge here
13:37that the Knicks could win
13:38in the state of Texas.
13:40So, I think game three,
13:42as it turned out,
13:43and we talked about it,
13:45but I want to stress it now
13:47looking at it
13:48after it happened.
13:49Game three was weird.
13:52The pregame was weird.
13:54The atmosphere felt like
13:55a Super Bowl.
13:56The president was there.
13:58The Knicks are up 2-0.
13:59The Knicks were on
14:01this legendary heater
14:02of winning 13 straight games.
14:04And Victor Wembenyama
14:06owns Madison Square Garden.
14:08I think tonight
14:09is going to be,
14:10and I mean this
14:11in a great way,
14:13much more normal.
14:14I think there is such angst
14:16after what happened
14:17in game three,
14:18but the Wembeny conversation
14:21makes it even more
14:23of an atmosphere
14:24that's going to feel like
14:25let's go Knicks
14:27as opposed to
14:28a concerning tone
14:31as you say that.
14:32And finally,
14:33the Knicks lost
14:33a basketball game.
14:35I think Mikkel Bridges
14:36is paramount tonight.
14:37I think he's going to
14:38bounce back in a major way.
14:39I think you always can tell
14:41early when it comes to Bridges.
14:42Knicks have an advantage
14:44when it comes to
14:45the bench tonight.
14:45I think that's going
14:46to be a factor.
14:47Here, Bridges and Towns
14:49were just atrocious
14:51when you look at
14:52what transpired
14:53in game three.
14:54This was, I mean,
14:56Nets fans, if they exist,
14:58are laughing at
14:59Mikkel Bridges
15:00and what transpired
15:01in game three.
15:02Knicks will get
15:03the last laugh here.
15:04I expect the Nova boys
15:05to play incredibly well.
15:06They've been here before,
15:07won that before
15:08on the collegiate level.
15:09I think Brunson,
15:10I think Bridges,
15:11I think Hart
15:11is going to have
15:12a great game
15:13in terms of his rebounding
15:14and his defense tonight.
15:16And I expect the Knicks
15:17to be able to take care
15:18of business.
15:19Also, I think the officiating
15:21is going to be a factor
15:23tonight.
15:24Obviously, all eyes
15:25are going to be
15:25on Victor Wambanyama
15:26and, you know,
15:27how the Knicks rough him up
15:28or not.
15:30Obviously, Mike Brown,
15:31and this was a big topic
15:32on Shine Time yesterday.
15:33I got all your responses
15:35on the comments section
15:36on YouTube
15:36and obviously on social media,
15:38on Instagram, on X.
15:41You know,
15:41that free throw disparity,
15:4224-8, that's a big deal, right?
15:46That's what Mike Brown
15:47ranted about
15:47in terms of the free throw
15:48disparity in the second half.
15:50The free throw disparity
15:51in the series
15:51really favors
15:52the San Antonio Spurs.
15:54There's no doubt
15:55that what was going on
15:57was absolutely Mike Brown
15:59going off.
16:00Phil Jackson on everyone
16:01sending that message
16:02for the ball game tonight.
16:04I'm going to be very curious
16:07to see how the whistle
16:08goes early.
16:09Look, I think the Spurs
16:10are going to be ready.
16:10You know, Stephon Castle
16:11told our friend Malika Andrews
16:13on ESPN
16:13the Spurs are going to win
16:14the next three games.
16:15I don't even view that
16:17as motivation.
16:18I think this team is confident.
16:19The Spurs have already
16:20outkicked expectations.
16:22They won game six
16:23down 3-2 against OKC.
16:25They won game seven
16:26in OKC against the champs
16:28and the MVP.
16:30The Spurs were favored
16:31before the series started.
16:33The Spurs,
16:33their stars are young,
16:3422 years old
16:35for Wemby and Castle.
16:37The Spurs are wise
16:39beyond their years.
16:39They're a dynamite team.
16:42Knicks are better.
16:43It's like people forgot
16:44they won 13 straight games.
16:46Cat bounces back.
16:48Brunson evens out his play.
16:49I am not worried
16:51about the Knicks.
16:52They are absolutely
16:53delivering New York City
16:55and long-suffering Knicks fans
16:56a championship.
16:58Now, speaking of the fans,
16:59the behavior of some Knicks fans
17:01in the aftermath of game three
17:03unfortunately has become
17:05a monster story here
17:07here in New York
17:07and nationally
17:08as discussed here
17:10by Stephen Jackson
17:11and Matt Barnes
17:12on All the Smoke.
17:14One thing I want to touch on,
17:15bro, did you see
17:16the Knicks fans
17:17after the game
17:17beating up people
17:18in the streets?
17:19Can I touch on that?
17:20That was so...
17:22This is my thing, bro.
17:23I understand.
17:25I guarantee you
17:25you ain't gonna get
17:26none of that in San Antonio
17:27because a lot of the people
17:29are just drunk
17:30from having a good time
17:30at the game
17:31and they go home.
17:32But when it gets to the point,
17:34it says a lot
17:35not only about the fans
17:38but about the people
17:39in New York.
17:39Oh, for sure.
17:40Because we...
17:41No, like...
17:42Even...
17:42There's a lot of people
17:43that's from New York
17:43that understand
17:44how good for basketball
17:45would be good
17:46if the Knicks won a championship.
17:48You got people
17:48that's not even from New York
17:50rooting for the Knicks
17:51just because of the long drought.
17:54You know what I'm saying?
17:54And even though
17:55people not from New York,
17:56a lot of people
17:57are Knicks fans.
17:58It's like the Cowboys.
17:59It's one of the biggest organizations
18:01so you have to like it somewhat.
18:02You know what I'm saying?
18:04Everybody's rooting for y'all
18:05but when y'all do stuff like this...
18:06It's just weak.
18:07It's like...
18:08That's the weakest shit you can do.
18:09Jump on people.
18:10Now, just imagine
18:11if they got a game
18:13in San Antonio
18:13and they do that to y'all fans.
18:15Some of y'all got celebrity fans.
18:16You see what I'm saying?
18:17Like, that's real tacky
18:19on the Knicks' behalf, bro.
18:20And it's not like...
18:21I mean, not the organization
18:22but the fans.
18:23Excuse me.
18:23It's not like this hasn't happened before
18:25but it's just on camera now
18:26and it's just out of pocket,
18:28pointless.
18:29You're attacking people
18:30just for wearing another jersey.
18:31And none of y'all getting paid
18:32by the Knicks.
18:33None of y'all.
18:34They're not gonna come
18:35bail y'all out.
18:35If somebody died,
18:37they're not gonna put no man
18:37on y'all funeral.
18:38You're doing all this for nothing.
18:39Just enjoy the game, bro.
18:41Excellent stuff
18:42on All the Smoke
18:43with Steven Jackson
18:44and Matt Barnes.
18:45So, a couple of things.
18:47Number one,
18:49it is absolutely despicable
18:51sick behavior
18:53to beat someone up
18:56and start a fight
18:57and clobber them
18:59because they're wearing
19:00a jersey
19:01for the other team.
19:03I think that is
19:04as disgraceful,
19:06as awful,
19:07as twisted,
19:08as pathetic,
19:10as scary,
19:11as nauseating
19:12as it gets.
19:13I've seen these videos
19:15where it feels like
19:15a thousand times.
19:16I get a pit
19:18in my stomach
19:19every single time
19:20I see them.
19:22I...
19:23No one should have
19:24to go through that.
19:25That is
19:26sickening.
19:28Absolutely
19:28sickening.
19:29That...
19:30And it says
19:30bad behavior.
19:32This is worse than bad.
19:33I mean,
19:34I'll also never understand
19:35the mindset
19:36of any human being
19:37who goes to a sporting event
19:39looking to fight.
19:40Your team wins.
19:42Your team loses.
19:43You want to throw
19:43fisticuffs.
19:44You want to beat
19:45the hell out of someone.
19:46I mean, that's...
19:47What kind of person
19:49does that?
19:50So,
19:51that's where
19:52I do want to
19:53at least
19:55give what I think
19:56is an explanation
19:57to Steven Jackson,
19:59Matt Barnes,
19:59and to anybody else.
20:01I don't believe
20:02these are
20:03quote-unquote
20:04Knicks fans.
20:06You didn't see
20:07Knicks fans
20:08doing this
20:09after...
20:11I'll give you
20:11a quick example.
20:12The watch parties
20:14game one, game two
20:16of the NBA Finals.
20:17Never saw that.
20:19It just didn't happen.
20:20You didn't see that
20:21against Cleveland
20:22or Philadelphia.
20:23You didn't see that
20:24at any point
20:25against Atlanta.
20:26I mean,
20:28I just think
20:29you have a lot
20:29of people right now
20:31who are not
20:32true fans
20:33or New Yorkers
20:35who,
20:36we live in this
20:36social media era,
20:38they think
20:38that they can get
20:39famous by doing
20:40something that's
20:41beyond knucklehead,
20:43embarrassing,
20:43pathetic,
20:44atrocious,
20:45disgraceful,
20:46should be in
20:47actual jail
20:48or sports jail
20:48behavior.
20:49Ben Stiller
20:50summed it up
20:52perfectly.
20:52Okay?
20:53Absolutely
20:54perfectly.
20:55I can appreciate
20:56being at a game
20:58where if you're
20:59wearing the opposing
21:00team's jersey,
21:02you know,
21:02you can have
21:03some verbal barbs
21:04and back and forth
21:05and, you know,
21:06I'll say it in a PG way,
21:09your team stinks,
21:10your team's great.
21:11My team's awesome,
21:13your team's not.
21:14Right?
21:14Just basic
21:15sports conversation.
21:17If you're throwing
21:18down on someone,
21:19if you're going to
21:20roundhouse,
21:21if you're drunk
21:22at a game,
21:22if you're out
21:23of your mind
21:24and you do this,
21:25this is not
21:26a New York situation.
21:28This is not
21:29a Knicks fan situation.
21:30That's the one thing
21:32I just,
21:32I gotta,
21:32I gotta call out.
21:34I mean,
21:35you wanna go
21:35through history,
21:36you wanna talk
21:37about San Francisco,
21:38you wanna talk
21:38about Los Angeles,
21:40you wanna talk
21:40about what's happened
21:41at some Giants-Dodgers
21:42games,
21:43you wanna talk
21:43about Philadelphia,
21:45I mean,
21:45where do you wanna go?
21:46There are plenty,
21:48you wanna talk
21:48about Boston,
21:49you wanna talk
21:49about any example
21:50of that,
21:51this is just
21:52a fan behavior
21:53kind of thing.
21:54And I'll take you
21:55a step further.
21:55I don't even think
21:57this is about
21:58Knicks fans,
21:59because Steven Jackson's
22:01right.
22:02Knicks fans
22:03don't wanna fight
22:04anybody.
22:05They wanna win
22:06a championship.
22:07That's all
22:08Knicks fans care about.
22:09They're not leaving
22:10Madison Square Garden
22:12or to watch party,
22:13let me find
22:14some schmuck
22:15in a Tim Duncan jersey
22:17and let me beat
22:18the living hell
22:18out of him.
22:19That's not how
22:20a Knicks fan
22:21is wired here
22:22in the month of June
22:23with a chance
22:24to win a championship.
22:25Those people
22:26are not Knicks fans.
22:27Those people
22:28are losers.
22:29Those people
22:30are not worthy
22:31of society.
22:32Those people
22:33are not worthy
22:34of living
22:34in the greatest city
22:36in the world,
22:38New York City.
22:39Simple as that.
22:40So,
22:41and with that said,
22:42and this is interesting,
22:44in a move
22:45that surprised many,
22:46including me,
22:47the NYPD announced
22:49they're gonna use
22:50the same security perimeter
22:52that was in place
22:53for game three
22:54when President Trump
22:55was in attendance.
22:56Mayor Mamdani announced
22:58that there will indeed
22:59be a watch party
23:00outside the garden
23:01once again tonight,
23:02which had been shut down
23:03for game three
23:04over security concerns.
23:06But,
23:07that was not enough
23:08for some.
23:09Madison Square Garden
23:11released a statement
23:12calling the mayor
23:13and police commissioner
23:16Jessica Tish
23:17party poopers,
23:20saying in part,
23:21the last several victories
23:23the Knicks have had
23:24have been celebrated
23:25by thousands
23:26outside
23:27Madison Square Garden.
23:29The joy
23:30and the happiness
23:31palpable everywhere.
23:32Apparently,
23:33Mary Mamdani
23:34and police commissioner
23:35Tish,
23:36despite what they say,
23:37don't want to see
23:39these celebrations happen.
23:41We now know
23:42these restrictions
23:44were never about
23:45the president,
23:46just a convenient
23:47excuse to restrict
23:49how
23:50and where
23:52and when
23:53Knicks fans
23:55celebrate.
23:56So,
23:57the same shutdown
23:58will be in place
23:59in the same area
24:01around Madison Square Garden.
24:02The watch parties
24:04will be omnipresent,
24:05but not where they were
24:06for game one
24:08and game two.
24:09So,
24:09it's a totally
24:11different situation here
24:12and obviously
24:14you got the mayor
24:15and the police commissioner
24:17and Madison Square Garden.
24:19Everyone is on
24:20different kind of
24:22wavelengths
24:22and pages here.
24:24So,
24:24this,
24:24this is a mess.
24:26I will be honest with you,
24:28I don't really care
24:29where the watch party is.
24:31I just want to make sure
24:32that everybody is safe
24:34and everybody is healthy
24:35and everybody has
24:36the ability
24:37to go out
24:38and,
24:39you know,
24:39have the ability
24:40to take care of business
24:41and watch the game
24:42and celebrate.
24:43So,
24:44listen,
24:44you know,
24:45when MSG's ripping
24:46the party poopers
24:48and ripping Mondani
24:49and Commissioner Tish
24:51for the game
24:53four street lockdown,
24:55clearly,
24:55people are not
24:56on the same page.
24:57Look,
24:58I think you can have
24:59a watch party
25:00anywhere in Manhattan.
25:01I think these watch parties
25:03are terrific.
25:03Me,
25:04I'm going to be on my couch.
25:05I want to listen to Mike Breen.
25:07I want to watch with my wife
25:09and my kids.
25:10We've never seen
25:11a championship together.
25:12When it comes to one of my teams,
25:14I always want to make sure
25:16that I'm locked in
25:17and I hear
25:17and see the announcers
25:19and,
25:19you know,
25:20can sit there
25:20and focus on
25:21whatever I need to focus on
25:23as a diehard fan.
25:24But these watch parties,
25:26except for what happened
25:28after game three,
25:29have been wonderful.
25:30Absolutely wonderful.
25:32The only group of people
25:34that I feel bad for
25:35with what's going on
25:37with the game four
25:38street lockdown,
25:39the local business owners
25:41by Madison Square Garden,
25:44I feel bad for them.
25:45That bothers me
25:46because this should be
25:48a cash cow bonanza.
25:49So, obviously,
25:51that's going to be
25:51different for them.
25:52But, look,
25:54it's pretty crystal clear
25:55that, you know,
25:57the shutdown
25:57was not about
25:59President Trump.
26:00I thought for sure
26:02that was the case
26:04and then you'd see
26:06those watch parties back.
26:08You wonder
26:09if the aforementioned
26:12violence
26:13and the Knicks fans,
26:15the Knicks fans,
26:17beating the hell
26:18out of the Spurs fans,
26:20if that impacted
26:21the situation here.
26:22So, just sucks
26:24that this has to be
26:25a topic for conversation,
26:27but it is.
26:28I would just be
26:29very careful, though,
26:31because you've got
26:31a lot of people.
26:32I'm very protective
26:33when it comes to
26:34defending New York,
26:36my city,
26:37and Knicks fans.
26:40Just don't paint
26:41with a broad brush.
26:42I'd just be very,
26:45very careful here.
26:47Don't paint
26:48with a broad brush.
26:50Meanwhile,
26:51my New York Yankees
26:53continue to play
26:54Anthony Volpe.
26:56And nobody but Aaron Boone
26:58seems to have
26:59an explanation.
27:00Here's the manager
27:01of the New York Yankees
27:02talking to our very own
27:03Joel Sherman
27:04and John Heyman
27:05of the show.
27:06Aaron, you know this
27:07because you answer
27:08questions all the time
27:09and you recognize
27:10the tenor
27:11and frequency
27:11of the questions
27:12that right now
27:13your polarizing player
27:14is Anthony Volpe.
27:15What is it that you see
27:17that your angry fans
27:18don't see
27:19about Anthony Volpe?
27:23Well, I see talent.
27:24I see a tough kid
27:27that works his butt off
27:28that's not afraid
27:30of that noise.
27:30He hasn't found his way
27:32to the level
27:33he expects yet
27:35that we expect him
27:36to get to.
27:37But he's also still
27:38a very young player
27:39that has had
27:40a lot of real success.
27:42People have wanted
27:43to go faster
27:44or quicker
27:44or him to be
27:45at a higher level
27:47but baseball is
27:48it's not always like that.
27:50I think sometimes
27:51here we can
27:52run guys out
27:54kind of quick
27:55just because it's
27:56not as fast
27:57or as expected
27:58as people want it.
28:00I believe in
28:01the person
28:01in his
28:03kind of his will
28:04and his ability
28:05and look
28:06I think this year
28:07so far
28:08I think he's played
28:09really well
28:09at short for us
28:10but I think
28:11generally speaking
28:12his at-bats
28:12have been
28:13for the most part
28:14day in and day out
28:14pretty well.
28:15Like yesterday's
28:16a good example
28:16like he comes up
28:17with the bases loaded
28:18gets in a 3-1 count
28:20hits the ball
28:20to right center
28:21you know okay
28:22like it's kind of
28:24a good at-bat
28:25and it's just like
28:27I hear the
28:28boo
28:29like it's like
28:31somebody else
28:32would have hit it
28:32in the gap
28:33you know like
28:34so it's like
28:35be honest
28:36with what you're seeing
28:37like is he having
28:38some good at-bats
28:39is he having
28:39some struggles too
28:41is he playing
28:42his butt off
28:43at shortstop
28:43kind of
28:44yeah
28:45yeah to a lot
28:46of that
28:46we all want
28:47him to continue
28:47to get better
28:48and get to another
28:49level as a hitter
28:50and more consistent
28:52all around
28:53but it's our job
28:54to help work
28:56work with him
28:57to get to that point
29:01it's like George
29:03Costanza once said
29:04it's not a lie
29:05if you believe it
29:06and I'm having
29:08a difficult time
29:09believing
29:09that Aaron Boone
29:11believes it
29:13Anthony Volpe's
29:15presence
29:15in the New York
29:16Yankees batting order
29:18makes me
29:19sick
29:20I can't look
29:22at his face
29:23anymore
29:24this is personal
29:26not an attack
29:27for me on Volpe
29:28but me
29:29and how it's
29:30impacting
29:30my life
29:32my sanity
29:33as a fan
29:34of the New York
29:35Yankees
29:35I wanted this guy
29:37given his
29:38unconditional release
29:39last year
29:41I called for him
29:42to be benched
29:43after the Blue Jays
29:44series
29:44in late June
29:46early July
29:47anyone who defends
29:49Anthony Volpe
29:50is either
29:50A
29:51on the Yankee
29:52payroll
29:52B
29:53a shill
29:55C
29:55clueless
29:57D
29:57all of the above
30:00look at his numbers
30:02look at him
30:03I'm going to go
30:05beyond the box score
30:06here
30:06in the month of June
30:08he has one hit
30:10going into action
30:12today
30:12one
30:14hit
30:15he can't hit
30:16he can't feel
30:18did you see the play
30:19last night
30:19David Cohn
30:21on the yes network
30:22Ryan Rucco
30:23on the yes network
30:25absolutely nailed it
30:26that ground ball
30:28ate him up
30:29that was one of the
30:30worst defensive plays
30:31you could make
30:32he didn't get his body
30:33in front
30:34had no idea
30:35what the hell
30:36was going on
30:36as bad
30:38as it gets
30:39when you look at it
30:40from a Volpe perspective
30:41I've never seen
30:43anything
30:43like that
30:44on a baseball field
30:46he can't
30:47at the end of the day
30:49function as a batter
30:51can't function on the
30:52basis
30:52he can't function in the
30:54field
30:54the excuse making is out of
30:56control
30:57and Boone is right about one
30:59thing
31:00it equals negativity
31:01and that's the deal
31:03the Yankee fans boo him
31:05because he stinks
31:06the Yankee fans boo him
31:08because he's a representative
31:09of Boone being
31:10not great at his job
31:12and Brian Cashman
31:13being so tone deaf
31:15in prior comments
31:16that's about Anthony Volpe
31:17look
31:18and I liked Volpe
31:19when he came up
31:20and I never took the cheese
31:22on him being the next
31:23Derek Jeter
31:24I don't care
31:25that he grew up
31:25on the Upper East Side
31:26and moved to New Jersey
31:27and grew up as a Yankee fan
31:29I just want him to function
31:31he can't function
31:32play Caballero
31:34bring up Lombard
31:35to play shortstop
31:36for August 1st
31:38trade for someone
31:39take my guy
31:41Tommy Cohen
31:42our associate producer
31:43put him in shortstop
31:44I don't give a damn
31:46who plays shortstop
31:47for the Yankees
31:48I can't look at this guy anymore
31:50and I've been ahead of the curve
31:52and when Aaron Boone
31:54and I love that he's on the show
31:56I don't miss an episode
31:58of Heyman and Sherman
31:59it's a phenomenal show
32:01you should watch it
32:02but I can't listen to this crap
32:04anymore from Aaron Boone
32:06because it makes him look bad
32:08and here's the thing
32:10that I know
32:10from all my years
32:11covering sports
32:13sports and talking sports
32:14the players know
32:16the players
32:17the guys in the clubhouse
32:19the locker room
32:20any sport
32:21they know
32:22they understand
32:24they see it
32:25they see the execution
32:27they see the preparation
32:28they see when
32:29a manager
32:30a coach
32:31a GM
32:31when there's
32:32organizational spin
32:34because
32:34the minute they get rid of Volpe
32:36you will have people
32:38in the press
32:39who say
32:39this is why
32:40he should have never been
32:41a first round pick
32:41this is a failure
32:42it's on Cashman
32:44guys
32:44it's already over
32:46like Volpe is so bad
32:48it's no longer at the level of
32:50hey talent
32:51change your scenery
32:53let him go to a small market
32:54Anthony Volpe stinks
32:55he brings nothing to the table
32:58and when he does one thing wrong
33:00it impacts something else
33:02awful
33:03absolutely positively awful
33:05Anthony Volpe
33:07and that play in the fields
33:08and Cone and Rucco
33:10on the yes network
33:12when Cone said
33:13that ball ate him up
33:16bravo
33:17bravo
33:18despite Volpe's ineptitude
33:20the Yankees managed
33:21a win yesterday
33:22in Cleveland
33:23and of course
33:24they go for the sweep
33:25and a four straight win
33:26today
33:26Jazz Chisholm
33:27came through
33:28with that leadoff home run
33:29in the eighth
33:30to give the Yankees
33:31a 3-2 win
33:32and loved every single second
33:34of Jazz going yard
33:36and doing it against Cleveland
33:38and obviously
33:39you think about
33:40how the Cleveland broadcaster
33:42last week said
33:43you know
33:43I don't know how you get
33:44on the Jimmy Fallon show
33:45with that kind of
33:46batting average
33:47Jazz heads baby
33:48I mean I can't get enough
33:50I love every single second
33:51of what Jazz was able to do
33:53Jazz has been scuffling
33:55obviously
33:55I think he adds
33:56a lot of energy
33:57I'm a big fan
33:58of what we see
33:59from Jazz Chisholm
34:00on a night in
34:01night out basis
34:02meanwhile
34:03Paul Skeens
34:03brilliant last night
34:04at home against the Dodgers
34:05going six strong innings
34:07allowing only two runs
34:08left the game
34:09in a 2-2 tie
34:10and he was just dominant
34:11and then
34:13you saw the Pirates pen
34:15surrender 10
34:1710
34:1810 runs
34:19in the seventh inning
34:21they lose the game
34:2212-3
34:24I mean my goodness
34:25just absolutely
34:27atrocious
34:28and credit the Dodgers
34:29Dodgers are going to
34:30win the World Series
34:31Dodgers are a machine
34:32Freddie Freeman and company
34:34getting it done
34:34to me the story
34:36is what transpired
34:37with Skeens
34:38Skeens was brilliant
34:39you know
34:40did an excellent job
34:41striking out seven
34:42six innings pitch
34:43couple of runs
34:44retired
34:46three times in the game
34:48the Pirates are 34-33 going into action on Wednesday
34:52one game out for the wild card
34:54nothing would be better for baseball
34:56than to see Skeens and the Pirates in the playoffs
34:59nothing would be better for baseball than to see Skeens going up against L.A. when it matters the most
35:05this
35:07this
35:08this should have been a win
35:08and the fact that Skeens
35:10was terrific like this
35:12against the big bad Dodgers
35:14and it doesn't amount to anything
35:17ugh
35:17brutal
35:18how about this Stanley Cup final
35:21that has been
35:22just an unbelievable series
35:24and the Canes able to bounce back brilliantly
35:27when you consider what happened in game one
35:29what happened in game three
35:31the double overtime loss
35:33the comeback
35:34and obviously in that third period
35:36they tied on game three
35:37then what transpired in double overtime
35:40with Theodore
35:42they jump out to the incredible lead last night
35:45able to hold on
35:46Stahl with the game winner
35:48just absolutely sensational on his stomach
35:50to me he was the MVP for Carolina
35:53give you know
35:54AHL journeyman
35:56our guy bus credit
35:57he was excellent between the pipes last night
36:00series is tied up
36:01even at 2-2
36:03I can't get enough
36:04look
36:05it's always great in the month of June
36:07when you have the NHL Stanley Cup final
36:11right
36:11and you have at the end of the day
36:13the NBA finals
36:15both
36:16going the distance
36:18both in terms of having great games
36:21great theater
36:22drama every night
36:23I just
36:24I can't get enough
36:26I absolutely cannot get enough
36:28of what we're seeing here in the Stanley Cup final
36:30I am going to stay with our take
36:33that you're going to see the Hurricanes win
36:35I trust Rod Brindamore
36:37and this
36:38you don't have to be a diehard fan of the NHL
36:40to appreciate
36:41just how great this is
36:43when you look at it
36:44I just
36:45I love watching the Stanley Cup final
36:48before we go
36:49we have to continue our critically acclaimed
36:51investigative series
36:53on cuisine
36:54at NBA
36:56playoff games
36:57now
36:59Walt Clyde Frazier
37:00is a friend of the show
37:01Walt Clyde Frazier
37:03is a Knicks legend
37:04phenomenal broadcaster
37:06greatest of all time
37:07as a Knick
37:10what the hell is he doing?
37:12why is he eating
37:14a french fry
37:16sideways?
37:18why is he eating a french fry
37:21like corn on the cob?
37:22why is he nibbling?
37:24look
37:25in theory
37:27I want to be deferential
37:29Clyde's our guy
37:29he was just on shine time
37:31who do I root for?
37:31I root for me
37:32I root for the show
37:33Clyde is
37:34the greatest Knick of all time
37:36even if Jalen Brunson
37:37wins a championship
37:38but this right here
37:40is diabolical behavior
37:42if anyone else
37:44other than the greatest Knick of all time
37:46would do this
37:47I would have to say
37:49that's like eating a candy bar
37:50with a knife and a fork
37:52Seinfeld
37:52Costanza style
37:53that right there
37:55is one of the worst things
37:56I've ever seen anyone do
37:58in terms of food
38:00and I
38:00you know
38:01I don't want to yuck your yum
38:02right?
38:03you eat what you want to eat
38:04you do you
38:06but who eats a french fry
38:08like that?
38:09there's only one way
38:10to eat a french fry
38:11this is not a multiple choice question
38:14what is Clyde Frazier doing
38:16with those fries?
38:18look at this
38:20and it's just like normal behavior
38:22this is not Clyde's first time
38:24nibbling
38:25and I don't want to hear
38:27because I've seen this theory
38:28you see the two fries stuck together
38:30while he's trying to do it
38:31by taking a bite
38:32no
38:33I don't want to hear it
38:34I don't want to hear it
38:35that's spin
38:36if it was anyone else
38:37but Clyde
38:38you'd say
38:39that is psychopath behavior
38:41that's I can't talk to you behavior
38:43if I saw a member of the shine time team
38:47eating fries like that
38:48just walking into the office
38:50eating fries
38:51like it's corn on the cob
38:53I mean
38:54I'd have to question things
38:57I'd have to question things
38:58I'll give him a pass
39:00because it's Clyde
39:01but that
39:03that can't happen
39:04that's the show
39:05you missed any portion of the show
39:07do what I do
39:07go to YouTube
39:08watch the show over and over and over again
