00:00When I smelled my mama cooking this, I knew dinner was about to be good.
00:04One of my absolute favorite childhood dinners was a fried cube steak with cream gravy.
00:09My mama would take the cube steak, beef or venison, fry it up, make a cream gravy,
00:15serve it over rice, and serve it with some lesseur peas.
00:18Not only did we eat this for dinner on a lot of occasions,
00:21it was also a frequent flyer for breakfast.
00:23But you know you are Southern if you are eating fried cube steak for breakfast.
00:27It was especially important to serve it on Christmas.
00:31Nowadays, I don't make this as often as my mama used to.
00:34However, after today, I might be convinced to start adding it to my menu rotation a little more often.
