00:01Europe is currently facing a critical question.
00:03How can it take the lead in the new era of technology and artificial intelligence while competing with the United
00:08States and China?
00:10Some of the biggest names in the international tech scene gathered at Panathenea,
00:13an event that aims to establish the Greek capital as a hub for startups, investors and innovative companies.
00:19Among them was Bolt founder Marcus Willig who started in Estonia and went on to build a global transportation giant.
00:26In US, the daily trading on the stock exchanges is almost 30 times higher than it is in Europe.
00:34And it's not because Europeans don't have the money.
00:36We just don't have the culture of taking risk, buying equities and investing the money we have back into accelerating
00:42the economy and accelerating the business.
00:44So if there's one thing we could do, it's how do we reform that?
00:47How do we get a bigger fraction of the pension funds and insurance funds and people investing back in the
00:52public markets,
00:53back into equities to build the next generation of companies?
00:55A similar message was delivered by Suo Wang, co-founder of Deal, one of the world's fastest growing companies in
01:02payroll and HR management.
01:04She argued that companies aspiring to become leaders must think globally from day one.
01:10If you want to build a really large business, you need to go global very, very early on.
01:17So that is very different than like, you know, 20 years ago or 30 years ago.
01:22You start with one region and you expand.
01:26Companies tend to start globally since day one.
01:30Despite their different paths, the speakers reached a common conclusion.
01:33Europe has the talent, universities, research centers and significant capital.
01:37Yet it's still struggles to turn these advantages into global companies on the scale of those created in the United
01:43States.
01:44The Panathenea is a great charity of the entrepreneurship and innovation,
01:48that they are willing to put in Athens on the heart of the European Union.
01:52This is the second year where the reorganization has over 10.000 participants from 60 and more countries.
