00:00should the Mets maybe look to trade Francisco Lindor?
00:04And I took that initially, and I was like,
00:07I don't know about that.
00:11I'm still processing that.
00:12Should the Mets consider moving their all-star shortstop at this time?
00:16Is that the worst idea here for the Mets in a team
00:18that likely is going to need to sell?
00:21Before the season started, I was having a conversation
00:23of some fellow Mets talking heads I'm buddies with,
00:26and we were on the topic of Francisco Lindor,
00:28especially when offseason rumblings was still kind of going on.
00:31Is there any chance that the Mets would do such a crazy thing
00:34even though we knew that wasn't going to happen?
00:36And what I said, and I'll stick with today,
00:38is that if the Mets found themselves with another dormant season
00:41where they are most certainly not going to make playoffs,
00:45while I wouldn't expect it to happen during the season,
00:48I will not at all be surprised when we hear actual rumblings
00:51of Francisco Lindor's future come next offseason.
00:54I mean, is it a lock to say that this is going to be
00:57the exact same front office a year from now?
00:58I don't think we can go ahead and make that assumption right away,
01:01knowing what's going on right now with the lack of consistency
01:04with this team.
01:05I don't know.
01:06It's a great question because Lindor is in many ways
01:08the leader of this team, and he's most certainly not someone
01:11I want to see gone.
01:13But as the Mets continue to freefall the way that they do,
01:15I think it's more of a reality check for them to see,
01:18okay, what position are they really in?
01:20Are they in a position to win now that they should just continue
01:23to try to buy, buy, buy each year until they get a roster
01:25that satisfies them and lucks out, or do they really need
01:29to take a step back and say, okay, it is time for a retool
01:32slash rebuild where maybe we don't go fully into it.
01:35However, we continue to dismantle what was previously here,
01:39and we want to build something up younger and more sustainable
01:42versus what we've gotten at this point.
