00:00Thank you, Mr. Secretary.
00:02I have two questions for you, but just to follow what you said about the $250 bill.
00:04Well, you didn't call me doctor, so I only got one.
00:08I'll shoot for two.
00:09You said that it's up to Congress that the President's face is on a $250 bill,
00:13but it is actually the Washington Post that's reporting two political appointees
00:16from the Treasury Department who have asked agencies to be ready to do that.
00:20Do you think politically it's a good idea to put his face on a $250 bill
00:24when people are struggling to afford gas in countries?
00:27You know, I don't really understand this Washington Post article.
00:30Who hears from the Post?
00:32Yeah, terribly written, terribly edited.
00:34Because basically what it says is that Treasury is following the law
00:39and that we've created the bill and that it's up to Congress,
00:43but that we follow the bill and it's up to Congress.
00:45I didn't really understand what the story was.
00:47So the appointees aren't involved in that, two of your political appointees?
00:51Yeah, of course, but we prepare for everything if it gets passed.
00:54Just like we were ready six months in advance
00:57for the one big beautiful bill for tax guidance.
01:00So we have to prepare in advance.
01:03You can't draw something up the day before.
01:05Politically, do you think it's a good idea, though,
01:07when people are struggling to afford gas and groceries?
01:09Look, I think it has.
01:11I think that it's bifurcated.
01:13Do you think we should have a 250th anniversary celebration?
01:19Well, that's happening anyway,
01:20but putting the President's face on a $250 bill is a choice.
01:23No, no, no, but, Caitlin, it's not happening anyway.
01:24It's happening because it's being funded by private citizens,
01:28by the federal government, by state governments,
01:30by municipal governments, to celebrate our country.
01:33And I don't think that there's anything untoward
01:37about having the President of the United States,
01:38that the person who was President of the United States,
01:41on the 250th anniversary bill.
02:02I will not be taking any other questions.
02:04I mean, I will not be taking any other questions.
02:06So...
02:06I don't know what you're doing here.
02:07I don't know what you're doing here.
02:07I don't know what you're doing here.
