00:00You bring Jason on. I want to bring Jason on. You bring him.
00:03Are we going to start football or basketball?
00:07What's your poison here, Kenny?
00:09Ask him.
00:10As Jason Lloyd appears on the Weissart Wright, we make it right.
00:13Call Kyle Wright Hotline.
00:15Lloyd was at the scene of the crime for the humiliating sweep.
00:20And also, he's been basically in agreement with you.
00:24The mild stuff is a non-story.
00:26I wonder if he's changed his tune.
00:27Jason Lloyd joins us now. How are you, Jason?
00:31Wait a minute. What am I in agreement on?
00:33Well, you've said that you thought...
00:35He doesn't like agreeing with me.
00:36Miles will just be here once training camp actually starts.
00:39Nothing to see here.
00:40But have you heard the way they're answering these questions?
00:42I'm just tired of the OTA.
00:44We have the OTA conversation with Miles every year.
00:47I'm just tired of talking about it.
00:49My stance hasn't really changed.
00:51Of course, you would rather him be here than not here.
00:53But he's not going to be here.
00:55So, why bother?
00:56He's just not going to.
00:59Well, I have felt the same way.
01:01And I felt the same way up until...
01:03I just didn't like Mike Rutenberg's answer yesterday when he was asked about talking to Miles.
01:07Oh, you're talking...
01:08Oh, so you think this is...
01:10I see where you're going.
01:12It just came off very odd to me.
01:14And, like, listen.
01:15I've been fighting the good fight, Jason.
01:17Like, come on.
01:17He does this every year.
01:19He does this every...
01:20And then I heard the answer.
01:23And I'm going, why is he answering, like, a follow-up question before it's even asked?
01:27And I'm going, all right.
01:28He was definitely told he was going to be asked this.
01:31And they went over an answer before.
01:32But I didn't think the answer was good.
01:34And so it makes me think, has he had contact?
01:36Is this something to pay attention to?
01:38And you got Breer talking about it with the guys in the afternoon.
01:42Schrager talking about it on ESPN.
01:44I think he's getting traded.
01:45It definitely sounds like more and more insiders think he's getting traded.
01:49Well, I mean, I made my stance clear last year.
01:52I thought they should have traded him last year.
01:55So...
01:55And it's not that anyone's like, boy, they really need to trade Miles Garrett.
02:00He stinks.
02:00That's not it at all.
02:01Nobody wants to do that.
02:03No.
02:04Nobody's excited.
02:05Well, you would only trade Miles if you're getting a huge haul back.
02:07That's why.
02:08Of course.
02:09And you'd only trade Miles because you're trying to fix the quarterback situation.
02:13So...
02:15Yeah, I mean, if they trade him, I'm not going to be shocked.
02:18No.
02:19Because I thought they should have done it last year.
02:20So I got two more about Miles here.
02:22And then we can go on to basketball or whatever Tone wants to ask you.
02:25Timothy Chalamet or whatever.
02:27One, are you more annoyed?
02:30Do you think more fans are annoyed with Miles over this?
02:33Whatever it is.
02:34Or do you think they're more annoyed with the media?
02:37Media.
02:37It's always the media.
02:38I agree.
02:40And that's fine.
02:41Like, that's fine.
02:42Like, that's the way it always goes.
02:45It's so funny in this, in Cleveland.
02:47And I think it's because the Browns have just haven't been able to get their shoes on the right feet
02:51for 30 years.
02:52But I've said this before.
02:54When the Cavs stink, people blame the Cavs.
02:57When the Guardians stink, which is not very often, fans blame the Guardians.
03:01When the Browns stink, fans blame the media.
03:04It's just wild to me.
03:06Go ahead and quote tweet that.
03:09Am I wrong?
03:12No.
03:14No.
03:16It's just weird.
03:18Well, the other teams haven't been bad for a long time.
03:21I know.
03:22And the Browns are always bad.
03:24And fans get sick of having it pointed out, I guess.
03:27I'll tell you, though.
03:28It's just weird.
03:28When you start talking, when, like, when trades start getting talked about, people do start to get mad at the
03:33media when it comes to the Cavs.
03:37It's just they don't.
03:38Oh, the Cavs?
03:38Yeah.
03:39When you start talking trades and stuff because you're just telling them things they don't want to hear.
03:43Oh, yeah.
03:43Yeah.
03:45But either way, I mean, that's semantics.
03:47That's splitting hairs here.
03:50Can I, one more thing.
03:51If I were Miles, I didn't get a chance to get this off my chest because we started arguing about
03:54the media and stuff.
03:56If I were Miles, I'd be doing the exact same thing because my answer is, what does it hurt?
04:00The fans might, if there are some fans, which I don't think they are, I think they're mad at the
04:03media.
04:04If there are some fans mad at him, all right, they're going to change their minds once I get 20
04:08sacks this year.
04:10The more that talks, the more people may pick up the phone because I have the no trade clause so
04:16they can say they're keeping me all they want.
04:18But if they get somebody who offers something crazy with all this talk going on and they bring it to
04:24me and it's the Las Vegas Raiders, I can go, yeah, pound sand.
04:28I'll stay.
04:29Goodbye.
04:29Or if it's the Eagles or Rams or Cowboys or whatever, you go, yeah, let's talk it.
04:35Let's do this here as long as they offer me another contract.
04:38Or you can turn right around and go, give me another contract.
04:41I mean, he really has all the power in this situation.
04:44They gave it to him.
04:46Yes, they did.
04:46Yes, they did.
04:47And that's why if I were Miles, I'd let the conversation continue.
04:50I don't need to stop any of this.
04:52No, he went from having very little leverage to all of the leverage last year.
04:58They gave him the no trade.
05:00I was talking about it at the time.
05:01It was stunning everything that they gave him.
05:02He gave the contract and the no trade.
05:04If he put out something on Instagram or whatever, gave an interview, it would make me feel better.
05:10He don't need to care about me.
05:11He needs to care about his future, his bank account.
05:14So it might make me and several other Browns fans feel better, but that ain't going to do better in
05:18his.
05:19And he knows the second he goes out there and starts sacking everybody and wrecking games like he does.
05:24It's not that we would have forgiven him.
05:25We just won't remember it.
05:27I do think that there's at least a portion of fans that are upset with how last year went in
05:34terms of the trade demand, everything that he said.
05:37I don't think it's a large percentage, but I do think that there are people that kind of look at
05:41him sort of side-eyed.
05:43He'd steal my 14-year-old daughter's line.
05:45But I don't think it's a very high percentage.
05:49Watson starting in September?
05:50Yes or no?
05:52Yeah.
05:53Yeah.
05:53I think I've been consistent on that.
05:57At first, when this first started, I didn't take it seriously.
06:00I thought it was just like sort of a motivation tactic to make sure that Shador stays on point.
06:06But then around the owners' meetings, the light went on.
06:12I was like, oh, no, they're serious.
06:14This is really going to happen.
06:15They really are going to run him back out there.
06:17So, I mean, I don't know if he's going to last the whole season as a starter, but I think
06:20he's first one up.
06:22All right, Jason Lloyd, right now on the Wiseheart Right, We Make It Right, Call Kyle Right Hotline.
06:26What do you do when you're the Cavaliers and you were one of the last four teams playing, but the
06:32city didn't seem really all in,
06:34and then the team didn't seem really all in on competing in a humiliating four-game sweep at the hands
06:39of the Knicks?
06:41It's frustrating because it was a breakthrough to make the conference finals.
06:46That is an accomplishment worth celebrating, that it was a spot that they couldn't get to before.
06:52So, you have to acknowledge that, and you have to, I don't know if honor is the right word,
06:58but you have to, like, that was a good thing.
07:01But their performance once they got there obviously was awful.
07:04So, would you rather them lose to Detroit and not have that happen?
07:07Like, would you rather them lose game seven?
07:09Then it's really on fire.
07:10And then we're writing all kinds of things and saying all kinds of things about who needs to go,
07:14and maybe it does look different.
07:17But the fact that they made it there counts for something.
07:20I got tired of hearing the tired talk because I think Diamond was 100% right.
07:27They did it to themselves.
07:29I thought for Kenny to come out and talk about the NBA scheduling was weak.
07:33Like, you guys put yourself in this position.
07:35So, don't complain about the schedule now.
07:37You had – the Knicks didn't have to go what you went through.
07:41The Knicks handled their business.
07:45So, you know, it's sort of a mixed bag.
07:48I think that there's reason to be pleased that they made it as far as they did,
07:52and they're certainly reasonably upset with how they performed when they got there.
07:57We got Jason Lloyd joining us on the show.
07:59Sorry.
07:59I asked Lima if I could say something on the air.
08:01And when Lima says no, that means I really can't say it on the air.
08:04Oh, wow.
08:06Well –
08:07Now I'm curious to know what it is.
08:07Just text him later.
08:08It came off to me like Kenny sounded during that series,
08:12like one of those parents who just makes excuses for their kid,
08:15and their kid's an idiot.
08:18Doesn't it?
08:19And, like, their kid's not – and, like, the Cavs aren't idiots.
08:23It's just like, man, you had a terrible series.
08:26Things went bad.
08:27And what are you doing giving me analytics?
08:29Analytically, we're up 2-1.
08:30Really?
08:31And so that just opened it up for people to make fun of you.
08:33Like, there were tweets last night and stuff about the Cavs getting ready
08:36for analytical game five.
08:38Yeah, yeah, yeah.
08:39The stuff about being tired.
08:41The stuff – it's like, hey, guys, like, let goofballs like me on the radio
08:45say that.
08:46And let me take hits for it.
08:48You guys are grown men.
08:49This ain't CYO.
08:51Like, that's silly.
08:52It just seems so – it's so – hey, oh, God.
08:56It's soft.
08:57It's soft.
08:58And you know it's soft.
08:59And it comes off soft.
09:00And if I were a player for the Cavs, I wouldn't be happy about it
09:03because you're making me look soft.
09:04It's like, no.
09:05Like, Donovan Mitchell didn't make any excuses whatsoever.
09:07I didn't hear James make excuses for him.
09:09I didn't hear Evan make excuses for him.
09:12I don't know.
09:13James said they were the better team.
09:14He thought they were – I'm paraphrasing that.
09:16Oh, damn it.
09:16That's right.
09:17I forgot.
09:17Okay.
09:18Strike that one.
09:19I didn't hear Evan make excuses.
09:20I didn't hear Donovan make excuses.
09:21Well, that's not an excuse.
09:23Maybe that's just sour grapes.
09:24Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
09:27Donovan was the one that I thought handled it best because he was the one that
09:30kept saying we did this to ourselves.
09:31Yeah.
09:31And he was 1,000% right.
09:34The analytical thing, I'm afraid, is going to haunt Kenny for –
09:37like, the whole Jared thing with the lights were too bright,
09:40this is that moment for Kenny where the analytical thing is just going to
09:43chase him and haunt him for years.
09:45But, again, Jared seems to only tell the truth in these situations.
09:48I mean, he had another comment, and it seemed to be truthful during this series.
09:53Can't remember what it was, but it was critical of their own team,
09:55and I thought that he had a point about that.
09:57And it's just like, man, Kenny, why are you lining up and make all these
09:59excuses for these guys?
10:00They're the highest-paid roster in the NBA.
10:02They're not making excuses for each other.
10:04I can say that when James said that, maybe it's just sour grapes.
10:07Maybe he's just upset.
10:08But, like, everything else is like, you're giving me the schedule?
10:10Really?
10:11The schedule here?
10:12Where if you could have taken care of Toronto like you should have taken care
10:15of Toronto, you would have had some time to rest your feet.
10:19Toronto should have been five.
10:20Yes.
10:20That was not a good basketball team.
10:22They should have beat Toronto in five.
10:24They should have beat Detroit in six.
10:25Had they beaten Detroit in six, yes, they would have had to play game one on
10:29Sunday, but if you recall, they played pretty well on Sunday in game seven in
10:32Detroit, and they would have had three days off between games two and three,
10:36and it could have been a nice hard reset of bodies, of health, of rest, of all of
10:43that, and maybe it would have been a different series.
10:45I don't know.
10:45I mean, frankly, I don't know that it would have mattered the way that the
10:48Knicks are playing.
10:49I don't know that it would have changed the outcome of the series, but it
10:52certainly would have given the Cavs more of a fighting shot.
10:55All right, Jason, when he was younger, Dan Gilbert did not have the appetite for
11:01any kind of humiliation.
11:03He'd fired coaches of the year before.
11:05He had certainly never been reluctant to make sweeping moves if necessary.
11:10We know back in the day, it used to be no GM had ever gotten a contract extension.
11:15Is this Dan Gilbert different?
11:18Does he have more patience?
11:19Or they have something up their sleeves?
11:22Because to sit there 24 hours, not even after eliminated, and then say the coach was
11:27coming back, that did surprise me, especially the timetable.
11:31Like, not even taking more than a day to think about it.
11:36Yeah, the timing on it was a little bit surprising to me, too.
11:40Dan has not, I've said this multiple times, Dan has not been the same guy since his health
11:46problems, since his health issues, since his stroke.
11:50He hasn't responded the same way, he hasn't reacted the same way, and a lot of times it's
11:53been for the better.
11:54Like, he was a very, you know, people would describe him as a very emotional, over-reactionary,
12:00I've used the word irascible type of owner before.
12:04And since he's had the health problems, a lot of that has gone away.
12:08And I know that he is a staunch supporter of Kenny, I know he really likes Kenny.
12:13So that part, I guess, didn't surprise me that they kept him, but the timing of it did
12:17a little bit.
12:17I mean, Kenny had a terrible finals.
12:19There's no way around it.
12:20He had a terrible conference finals.
12:22Is that enough reason to get rid of a guy?
12:25Clearly, they say no.
12:27So, do they have something up their sleeve?
12:30You know, the LeBron thing is what it is.
12:35You know, I've told you guys before, I don't see him, I certainly don't see him taking a
12:40minimum type deal.
12:41I don't know that necessarily he would take a mid-level type deal.
12:44Like, they're going to have to get creative if that's the route that they go.
12:47The honest thing is interesting to me, because he's got one year left on his deal.
12:52So, are you really going to make a big swing like that without any sort of commitment from
12:56him?
12:57I would be surprised.
12:59So, and that's the part, like, we haven't really talked about.
13:02What is the honest one?
13:03Because he's going to, like, we talked about Miles, and Miles is going to have control.
13:06Well, Giannis is going to have a pretty big voice, too, because I don't know that what
13:11team is going to give away what Milwaukee's asking for for one year of control, because
13:17then he's got a player option after that.
13:19So, Giannis will have a voice in this of his next spot if and when he's traded.
13:25The whole Jimmy Haslam thing is just another layer to all of this that I find fascinating,
13:30given, obviously, his ties to the city.
13:33And so, there's a, I mean, we're going to have a bunch of weeks to unpack some of this
13:38and get into all this.
13:39But the honest thing is fascinating to me, because I think he's going to have as much
13:42say as anyone over where he goes next.
13:45I thought Vardin put a different spin on it when he said, is he going to be comfortable
13:50walking into a locker room where he looks at Sam Merrill and Sam Merrill makes more than
13:53he does?
13:54And I went, oh, God, that's, that's tough to, he's arguably the greatest player to ever
14:00do it.
14:00Yeah.
14:00I was, I was going to Giannis.
14:01LeBron, LeBron.
14:02Yeah.
14:02Yeah.
14:03I'm sorry.
14:03I should have said LeBron, because you just got done talking about Giannis.
14:05And I was like, man, that, that does put a different spin on things there.
14:08I mean, we're talking about arguably the greatest player of all time.
14:13And he's been, you can, you can make a very strong argument.
14:17I've had this conversation with him before about he's, he's one of the most underpaid
14:21players of all time.
14:22Yes.
14:23He's got all these max deals, but for all the money, the billions of dollars he's made
14:27for the NBA over the course of his career, like he's been underpaid his whole career.
14:31Like you would feel you're taken advantage of in, in so many ways.
14:36And, and yes.
14:37And for everything I just said about Dan is not the same Dan, LeBron don't care about
14:41that.
14:42Like LeBron is not going to do Dan any favors.
14:45No.
14:46So, so there, that's just, there's just, when, when they were here, whenever that was,
14:52when the Lakers were here, I, I really felt like, oh man, like I could see a path of this.
14:56I could see, I, I, this, this could happen.
14:58And I'm not saying it's not.
15:00It very well still could.
15:02But they just, I don't know how they make the money work.
15:04I don't know what their appetite is, how much they're willing to move to make that work.
15:12Because anyone who thinks he's coming back here on a minimum deal or a taxpayer mid-level,
15:18I, I would be stunned.
15:20Not saying it's impossible, but I would be stunned.
15:23Yeah, Jason.
15:24If he was willing to do that.
15:25I know we got to go.
15:26I just, I know that he had to have an appreciation for how incredible, even though they were
15:32a bad team, Kobe's swan song went.
15:35And you got to see it up close and personal here in Cleveland.
15:38People flying from all over the world to come see Kobe in Cleveland.
15:42It was, I was asking people, people flew 20 hours to Cleveland to see Kobe Bryant's last game.
15:48LeBron's a historian.
15:49He appreciates the game.
15:50Does he really want to end it squabbling with ownership and coach and wondering if he's going
15:56to get a game ball and just the way that they have taken him for granted and they just don't
16:01seem to care about him there.
16:02That just doesn't seem like the LeBron James that I've known to have such an affinity for
16:08the sport that he loves and has been such a big part of.
16:12You're right in everything that you're saying, but also this is the season of posturing and
16:16this is the season of public negotiation and it's still the Lakers and it would still be
16:19finishing his career, his incredible career with an incredibly storied franchise.
16:26So once they get around to October, if it works out and they stay, I think a lot of that
16:30will be under the bridge and they'll move on, they'll move forward and he'll finish his
16:34career there.
16:35He loves LA.
16:35I know that.
16:36His family loves LA and he's never played away from his family ever in his career.
16:41His family's always been with him wherever he's been.
16:44I don't see them uprooting themselves and coming back to Cleveland for one year.
16:47And again, it doesn't mean he can't do it.
16:49It's one year.
16:50I'm just pointing out it's never happened before.
16:53Jason, thank you very much for the time.
16:55Blessings to you and yours.
16:57All right.
16:58We'll do this again soon.
16:59Okay.
