00:00Violence against women leaves families carrying loss long after the court case finally ends.
00:06Shara Miller was 41, a mother, daughter and sister whose life had been shaped by vulnerability and
00:12addiction. Her killer Tanvir Singh has now been jailed for murder. Singh, a 32-year-old delivery
00:19driver from West Bromwich was convicted at Wolverhampton Crown Court. The jury heard he
00:25been drinking heavily and taking cocaine before seeking services from Miss Miller who was working
00:30as a sex worker at the time. The court was told he took her into the back of his van
00:35in Smevik and
00:36shut the sliding door. A post-mortem examination found she'd been strangled. The judge said Singh
00:42used deliberate force after she refused a sexual request that was made. After the attack Singh left
00:48Miss Miller's body amongst rubbish at an industrial state and poured AdBlue over her in attempt to
00:54remove forensic evidence. Police say she was found partially clothed wearing just a bra and one
00:59shoe. Officers said in a victim impact statement her brother Leitha Miller described Shara as vibrant,
01:06loving and vulnerable. He said drug addiction and the loss of her children to care had changed her
01:11life deeply. Police said their thoughts remain with her loved ones. Singh has been jailed for 29 years.
01:18The judge said he was manipulative, cynical and not truly remorseful.
01:22For Shara Miller's family the sentence ends the case but not the grief they still carry every day.
