00:00NHL action. Did we think we were getting a game number seven? By the way, tuning in,
00:05Montreal was electric on a Saturday night. They, talking about the Canadians, had a three-to-one
00:10lead, walking into the Eastern Conference Finals until they didn't. I don't know who lit the torch
00:16on the Buffalo Sabres, but they decided to get it going at the right time. And now we have a
00:20game
00:20seven, which is going to be crazy tonight. 7.30 is when the puck is going to drop the total.
00:26You see the graphic, five and a half. A slight favorite for those Sabres here.
00:30Game seven tonight, Joe. Give me a spread line on this one.
00:33Well, it was electric, Donnie, for about one period. And then it was not electric anymore.
00:40They turned the lights out in Montreal because Buffalo, who, by the way, I mean,
00:45had to make a goalie change in the first. Things were not going well. They were down 3-1
00:50before they knew it. And you're going, what in the world is that? Well, boy, did they stop?
00:55They stopped the goals. They played some defense. They got the offense. Power play
01:00in place again. And listen, game sevens are supposed to be coin flip situations, Donnie,
01:05right? Just not apparently in the NBA where it's a 30 or 40 point blowout. But Buffalo and
01:11Montreal, coin flip? I'll tell you what, though. Every game this series, all six so far, Donnie,
01:18we've gotten over a goal and a half in the first period. You know what we're going to get tonight?
01:23Over a goal and a half in the first period. They are not stopping either. Neither goalie is
01:29stopping either one of these offenses. Yeah, I'll take the over in this game.
01:33It's Monday right here on the early line. Sports Grid Network. No better place to be. It's
01:37Sonny Wrights, along with Joe Ranieri. Now let's have some fun and bring in Tom Vecchio. So much to
01:42go over. So much NHL. Game seven, start of conference championships. And away we go,
01:47Tommy, on this glorious Monday. How are we feeling today? I'm doing great. Like you said,
01:52a lot of baseball on tap. But we got game seven for the NHL tonight. We got some more series
01:57starting between the NBA and the NHL. I'm ready to go. You know, these are fun. Like for me,
02:03being an Eagles fan, it's been a pretty good ride since 2017, you know, picking up two
02:06championships. And also, like Super Bowl comes on a Sunday. They're not every day. But you know,
02:10I do miss this. And the Flyers did make the playoffs this year, Tom. But being a fan of a
02:14team
02:15in big game environments, and you have to work that day, and you just wait and count the clock
02:20down so that game actually happens. Home hockey games are sensational with those home markets
02:25and those fans. But how about this, Tom? It's a game seven. Return of the Beer Sabre. Beer Sabres
02:31will be on sale tonight. Pre-game windows following wall supplies last time. By the way, if you went to
02:36a game, would you get the Beer Sabre, or would you rather just a cup and keep it fresh at
02:40this point?
02:41You got to get one of those. Those are so unique that I think you want one. Because like there's
02:47nothing else. Every baseball stadium has the hat they can get ice cream in, the helmet. Those are
02:52fine. But there's nothing like that. So I would absolutely get one of those. I swore tonight's
02:56game, you know, I want to say it starts off a little bit slow. First period under one and a
03:01half,
03:02minus 130. I think they're going to come out with a little bit of trepidation. Like we have seen way
03:06too many goals in this series back and forth. It's a game seven. Things are going to be a little
03:10bit
03:10different tonight. Are you out of your mind? Are you out of your mind? What from these two
03:21goaltenders have you seen? And I don't care who they play, lead you to believe that there's going
03:26to be trepidation. If anybody has trepidation, it's going to be four nothing six minutes into the
03:31game. There is no trepidation. If it ain't, don't fix it. No, Tom? Listen, people can certainly ride
03:38the trend that's been going and I've been on it for game overs. Like I haven't played first period
03:42overs. I haven't played to start the series. I haven't played them recently. I've been playing
03:45a lot of game overs because you said the goals have been flying. And I know a lot of the
03:49surface
03:49level stats for Dobish, the Habs goal, it doesn't look good where he's given up, you know, three
03:54goals on five shots or whatever it is, but he's actually pretty solid when it comes to goal save
03:59above expected. You know, Alex Leon and Uko Peklukanen for the savers haven't been amazing,
04:04but this is a game seven. I truly believe that they're going to try and operate differently.
04:08And I will say this overall, if I'm wrong, this game's going to have nine total goals. Like I either
04:13think it's going to be at like three goals. It's going to end two to one either way, or this
04:16game's
04:16going to end five to four. I don't think we're going to end at five or four. You're going to
04:20miss going to lose by the book. It's going to be way over or way under. It's great. I can't
04:25wait
04:25for this game too. And again, just up most people in their own, you know, teams that they root for,
04:30they are their team fan, not NHL fans per se is okay. Once my team knocked out, I stopped watching
04:34here. This is such a fun series to watch because the electric atmosphere and Saturday night,
04:38it looked like Montreal was going to burn down to start the game. And then you might thought they
04:42would burn down when it ended because of Al McKinney believe the Buffalo Sabres hit the gas pedal,
04:46but there are some statistics that are interesting for this one, Tommy, for the Canadians following a
04:50loss this post-season five and O record 19 to nine in goals, risk goals against a penalty kill,
04:5688.9% in the state percentage of nine 11. But let me ask you this question because the game's
05:01going to play out tonight. A team is going to win an advance here. Who do you feel Tom gets
05:06the
05:06advantage or who I say, who does Carolina want to play or who do they don't match up as well
05:11against
05:11in the next round? You know, frankly, I think that the Canes are better than either team. And I said,
05:16this from the start of the playoffs that the Canes have a really clean path to get to the
05:19conference finals, that they were absolutely going to take care of the senators. I thought
05:24they were going to be better than the Flyers or the Penguins. And now they're sitting here,
05:27you know, waiting for where the conference finals, waiting to finally go to the Stanley Cup.
05:30I think they're better than both the Canes, both the Canes are both better than the Habs and the
05:35Sabres. I think they would like to play the Sabres just because the goaltending has been a little
05:39bit up and down. And something about playing at the Bell Center is very tough for opposing teams,
05:43but I think they're better than either. And I think they get it done in five or six games.
05:48Yeah. I got to ask though, Todd, because I don't know. I don't know tonight with Oklahoma City.
05:54I don't know what's going to happen a couple of days with the Knicks. I don't know what you're
05:58going to get for. I mean, listen, momentum's a real thing. I mean, it has been a while since they've
06:03played some competitive hockey and it really, even the last time they played, it wasn't against a
06:08great team. So I don't know. What, what do you do in games one? Are we looking to fade Carolina?
06:14I wouldn't be, I wouldn't be opposed to that. I would say if anything happens, it's going to be
06:20a really ugly game just because they're not in rhythm where they're D I think their defense
06:23will show up before their offense. If they're going to start off quote unquote slow it their
06:28defense, the way that they play is suffocating in playoffs. They play a very, very tough style
06:33to play against. So because the other team is so worn down, they may try and slow the game
06:37down. They don't want the Canes to get out and run, but it'll be a very ugly start to the
06:41series.
06:41They can give me a game two or three. That's where the Canes could start to pour in a couple
06:44of goals. Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres game number seven in the NHL tonight for the right
06:50to take on the retired. It feels like Carolina hurricanes at this point right now, but look at
06:55this trading Joe, the graphic 50 50 today between the Canadians and the Sabres. By the way, home team
07:02is the Sabres here after a rousing victory in game six up at the bell center. Who wins tonight, Joe?
07:10Well, who wins is anybody who expects goals here like, uh, like I do. I think that's, uh,
07:16that's the way to do it. Listen to one consistent thing that we have seen in this post season with
07:22these two teams is that you can expect goals. You can expect them early. The obviously it's not,
07:30it is not like Donnie. We're getting some great goal to a hot goalie. You can win a Stanley. No,
07:35we're not getting that here. We're getting nine goals a game. We're getting five goals in the
07:41first period. I don't, if it ain't broke, I'm not fixing it. Six and O to the over in the
07:46first period,
07:46one and a half goals. Let's make it seven. Cause I do not trust either goaltender in this spot to
07:53be able to make enough saves early on. By the way, if you take a look also, Joe,
07:58at some of these elimination games, last time we saw one of the golden Knights and the ducks a
08:01couple of days ago on a Thursday, which was May 14th, that ended up at a five to one finish.
08:05Then you take a look at Saturday night. The chance actually was for the Montreal Canadians to close
08:09and they didn't, but that final score eight to three. So just trying to pick the winner tonight and
08:14say, I'm going to take that goal, the puck line Buffalo wins by one and a half goals. So that
08:18Joe 32 cents on the yes contract, which means a hundred dollar investment pays three 13. Cause
08:23you're going to see in that third period, Joe, for teams down one or two goals, they're pulling
08:26that goalie for a long time with a chance to win by extras. Could it go to overtime? Maybe so,
08:31but I'm going to assume that this game ends tonight. Somebody is going to be a puck line winner here.
