00:00was safe tigers went two to one last night they've won four in a row i think i have a
00:06new favorite
00:06detroit tiger and we will get to who that new favorite detroit tiger is i didn't expect it to
00:13be the case but i'm like oh oh it's too easy to say mcgonigal so it's not mcgonigal not mcgonigal
00:20we will get to that today at 10 35 but last four games they've won them all they've allowed four
00:27runs they've allowed four runs yeah they've been pretty great pretty spectacular the pitching has
00:34been amazing and you know it didn't you didn't think that going into um you know whatever it was
00:40the third inning or so last night valdez had gotten given up a couple of hits and there's some race
00:45runners and some a misplay on a bounce back there were runners on first and second maybe
00:53and a ground ball comes back to valdez he feels it kind of bobbles it and then it goes to
00:58throw it
00:59to javi buys at second base and he sort of shot put palm balls it and fortunately the runner sliding
01:07from first to second kind of held up on his slide because he thought he was going to be out
01:12by a mile
01:13and he was out by inches because the ball just went like two miles an hour on a throw on
01:18a toss to him
01:19well it was also salvador perez who's slower than erosion yes that helps um but buy is his face
01:26afterwards he's just laughing it was like it was a funny play if valdez looked like he threw it wrong
01:30handed yeah i mean just imagine if you're a righty picking up a baseball and having to throw from the
01:35pitcher's mound a second left-handed and trying to do it in a hurry right that's what it looked like
01:40it was a it looked like a tailor-made ground ball double play and it turned out into just a
01:44force out
01:45in second and then they end up uh scoring a run in that inning and um and it was uh
01:50unfortunate for
01:50the tigers in that inning however they come back that's what this team's about yeah well i mean
01:56not a ton of offense but enough at the right time kansas city has a terrible bullpen and the tigers
02:02took advantage in the eight well it was the bottom of the eighth man they're down one to nothing and
02:06they've done very little offensively and uh mckinstry doubles and ghost third on a ground out i believe
02:14and then grounded out um mcgonaga walks and then there i don't know it was a wild pitch that scored
02:23wild pitch scored mckinstry and then dylan dingler and then dylan dingler hit the ball hard and i found
02:29the the topic if we were doing this show in kansas city is the mikhail garcia get out of the
02:36way of
02:36that ball the third baseman for kansas city because dingler hit it hard but that was an extraordinarily
02:42defensive posture that mikhail garcia took that if he knocks that ball down mcgonagall does not score
02:48from first but on a double to left he scored from first with two outs but garcia whoo that was
02:55a
02:55quintessential ole ball yep that ball was it's so hard i didn't see an exit velocity in that did you
03:01or hear about it uh i did not that had to be well over 100 miles an hour and it
03:06was just one it looked
03:07like it was one or two steps to the right of of garcia and he wanted no part of that
03:12uh-uh none of
03:14that and as soon as it got past him you knew mcgonagall was going to score from first and
03:19unfortunately that that was the case but uh dylan tingler is uh off to a really really good start
03:24according to mlb.com the exit velocity was 106.7 oh and when i mean it's only 106.7 mikhail
03:33garcia
03:33get your chest in front of it it's rocking and rolling um uh so anyway yeah you get your chest
03:40in front of that yeah i don't get paid millions yeah because for millions i'd put my chest in front
03:45of it chris pronger revisited uh it was a i mean that was an absolute laser and um jansen comes
03:53in
03:53and gets the job done slams the door and not without a little bit of drama but yeah right but
03:58bottom line
03:58is uh they've won four in a row and i guess do people think this team is okay when it's
04:05all said
04:05and done now after a couple weeks here and back to eight and nine are the preseason expectations
04:11indeed still alive in your mind like okay reassuring you know they're not back to 500 yet
04:17they still aren't scoring a ton of runs but nobody is in major league baseball now relative to what's
04:22going on around the league bats are starting to warm up a little bit it seems like a little bit
04:27and that
04:27includes the tigers but uh you are you feeling more comfortable that the season is not going to
04:33be a disaster tiger fans where you at today with this team or are you still absolutely panicked and
04:40we do know this i'm not panicked you still think that they won't live up to the expectation when
04:45things are going poorly our phones are packed when things are going well not as much things are going
04:53well now and i guess we'd love to know if the fan base is like all right the rudder is
04:59down the ship
05:00is steadied they're going to be there in the end now the weirdest thing is i still can't get over
05:09going
05:09oh for four in minnesota like that blows my heart that blows my mind yeah and so that kind of
05:15like
05:15neuters an argument that people will have well yeah oh you're playing the the central division okay well
05:20they went on four against minnesota and now they've won uh two and uh the first one against
05:25kansas city um i'm not i'm not so sure that it's just that they haven't played they're starting to
05:30play better you can't take that away miami got off to a good start this year even though maybe not
05:36much was expected of them they got off to a good start and the tigers mowed them down over the
05:40weekend
05:41and now they're like second class team yeah i look this team is a better than 500 baseball team but
05:46this team is also i don't think there are 100 win baseball team this we yeah we had our season
05:50predictions and you know i think i don't think anybody was terribly out of line we had a couple
05:55but we're thinking about it but you know it neuters the discussion people think that is it just a bad
06:00division and yeah you're just taking advantage of a bad team i don't know if kansas city's a bad team
06:06or not but they've got a couple really really good players but the tigers are a better team they
06:12should win these games it feels like the teams that are expected to be on the fringe of of playoff
06:16contention san diego kansas city they've done fine against and then teams that aren't supposed to be
06:20particularly good that their win totals in vegas were low arizona minnesota they've struggled with
06:25minnesota better than arizona if i recall correctly but and miami actually was a team that wasn't
06:31exposed to be good that they took advantage of but you know we spent much of the first half of
06:35the
06:35season last year tampering down expectations saying look they're the best team in baseball
06:42we don't think they're the best team in baseball but they're acting like it yeah yeah we said that
06:47for most of the first part of the season realizing that you just look at the roster it's hard to
06:53imagine that this team is the best team in baseball and they weren't but they literally spent two weeks
07:00looking like the worst team in baseball and that was a short-term results long-term conclusions type of
07:04thing that we always try to avoid but now here we are you know getting into three weeks into the
07:09season
07:09and they're they're certainly restoring some faith so we'd love to know where you are with this team
07:15and i'll tell you who my new favorite tiger is today at 10 35 and provide the evidence as to
07:19why
07:20it's karshan anderson 971
